playdoh cookies

i found these at little momma and company.

she has such creative fun in her kitchen.
i was in love with the color…of course.

i doubled the recipe since there were four of them.
and i think if i ever do it again…i will make some for me to play with too.
ours looked nothing like little momma’s but that’s not important.
(hers were pretty.  ours were not.)
this was just for fun.
and so we could check something else off the summer list.

it is real cookie dough that looks like playdoh.
it was good enough to eat.
and they did.

they each got their own pan.
there was no wrong way to make them.
if we make these again i will add more flour…it was quite sticky.

mmmmmmm???
annie was the only one who wanted to eat annie’s.

they turned out pretty good.
kind of flavorless…but so colorful.
it was a little strange to eat a bright blue cookie.

but they managed to get it done.

and for those of you who will comment that i am “such a fun mom…”
they were all grounded from tv and video games yesterday
and this was to keep my sanity.
and 20 minutes after this….
they all got sent tho their rooms till their dad got home from work.

but i am still a fun mom.
just want you to know (in case you doubted) that we have plenty of UN-fun here too.

Shelly - Hello,
I was wondering….
With this cookies, does the dough start out white or more yellowish? Just wondering, even though the 4th of July has passed, I thought it might be fun to do some of these in Red, White & Blue.
Thanks!! Shelly

Angi - I LOVE your blog~what great ideas~you inspire me very much!

Chaos-Jamie - I too am very relieved to know that you are sometimes unfun. I aspire to be a fun mom, but man it’s a lot of work. Maybe if they’d help me clean up the fun.

chris - I am so glad to hear about the un fun, I was beginning to think we had the sadest family life ever, I should do more of that kind of stuff, Mason my 10 yr old just starts messy projects all by herself, because she says if she asks I would say no, she may be right, I just have to clean up the aftermath, I can handle that .
Thanks for sharing.
Chris

Sara Ito - Just found your blog, and this is the CUTEST idea! I can’t wait to do it with my kids!! Thanks for posting this!

Kim Disberger - Just wanted to share one of our favorite recipes, since I’ve used a couple of yours.
Huntington Chicken
1 chicken, cut up
4 c. chicken broth
1/2 c. milk
2 c. macoroni
8 T. flour
2 c. shredded cheddar
Cook chicken & remove from bone. (One from store works well) Cook macaroni. Thicken 4 c. broth with 8 T. flour and milk. Add gravy to chicken and macaroni. Stir in cheese, top with crackers. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Great meal, kids like.

jennifer - Just recently came across your blog (can’t remember how, what with the mommy brain and all) and I love seeing your beautiful pictures and the totally cool things you’re doing to your house. Very inspiring.
And I just wanted to say that I love your honesty at the end of this post. Very refreshing!

JONI - I bet they are thinking about getting grounded more often! (Just kidding) It looks like a lot of work to keep 4 kiddos entertained for a decent stretch. Kuddos to you for still planning something fun for them. I am STILL way impressed.

Amber - I just wanted to say hello since I’ve enjoyed peeking into your life through your blog. I found you through Emily (little momma and co.) and was drawn to your beautiful pictures. What a cute family! Looks like you’re having lots of fun this summer. I have a summer list too but my son is only 13 months so it’s pretty simple:) Enjoy the weekend!

danelle - We buy this cookie dough each year for the school fundraiser. It is a lot of fun and not too bad tasting either. Looks like sticky fun!!! And yes, you ARE a good mom.

kristin at prairie daze - i love reading and seeing your life…not in a freaky “love your blog” sort of way, but knowing your kids and seeing you capture the beauty of everyday life.
i love it.
we bought cookie dough like this once and it was weird. fun, but weird.

emily - YAY, you tried them! I am so glad, they are so much fun. I was mean mommy though and had all the fun myself. Next time I should let the kids join in too!

Kelley - My favorite picture was the 6th one down. Classic!

April - OH Meg….you are so funny.
You ARE a fun Mom….and being sent to their rooms and no TV and such tells me you are a GOOD mom too.
putting that on my summer to do list too.

PamperingBeki - Haha! I was *just* going to say “You’re such a fun mom!”
I was also going to say that you’re a much nicer mom than I am because I have a really hard time when things get sloppy messy like that. I almost never let my kids do things like that because seeing the disaster kills me. I’m getting better about it though…
