i have been using it in the shower almost everyday since christmas.
it smells delicious and is working wonders on my dry winter skin.

IMG_2296this is all you need…. baby oil (or light olive oil), coconut oil, peppermint essential oil and sugar.
IMG_2299IMG_2300you need to melt the coconut oil… it took exactly one minute in the microwave.IMG_2301it’s clear when it’s melted.IMG_2302add it all together and mix it up.IMG_2307IMG_2309IMG_2311then i spooned it into wide mouth mason jars.
wide mouth jars because after you have used a lot of it you want to be able to get to the bottom of the container with your hand… so the wide mouth works!
IMG_2315IMG_2318i just grab a scoop and start rubbing it all over till i feel sufficiently covered and smell delightful.

you could use different essential oils for different smells.
but peppermint is always my top choice.

this will be in my bathroom for like… ever now.
it is my favorite.

megduerksenscrubrecipei made several batches of this.
because all the ingredients are there so why not?
my friends will all be smelling good too.
it’s such a fun gift to surprise someone with.

if you try it let me know.
and definitely if you try other scents i want to hear about it.  🙂

Andrea @ This Pug Life - This sounds wonderful, and easy! I have been obsessed with peppermint scents lately. Which is weird, since I don’t particularly like to eat it. I bet this would be awesome for the feet using a larger grained sugar!

Ryan - Love this! Just made it and put mine in empty peanut butter jar. It’s big but has a wide mouth and is plastic so it won’t break on tile. Good for us with all the little people that end up in our shower! Thank you for sharing!!

Michelle Ficklin - Love this idea!!
Crazy question from someone who is not crafty…how did you print your labels?

Also, a couple of the questions from above, also….does it leave a slippery coating or film in the shower?

How many small jars does one batch make?

Thanks for sharing!

Crystal - Looks like a wonderful concoction! I’m going to have to try this. Thanks for sharing!!

Sarah B - We made sugar scrubs on a mission trip last summer! We led a moms’ Bible study…the ladies who live in the town we visited are busy moms in a very poor area. They do not know anything about being pampered. We wanted to really make them feel special and loved on so we brought the supplies and taught them how to make scrubs. It was so much fun and they were so tickled! We used orange and lime essential oils since it was summer. They turned out DIVINE.

kara s. - I use (and sell 😉 ) Young Living oils, please anyone who is using citrus to be sure that they know they are photo sensitive. They will burn after using citrus oils.
Also NOW oils are cut, they are less than 10% oil shown and 90% carrier oil. <3

Anita - Where can i buy coconut oil and peppermint essential oil? I don’t remember seeing these anywhere. Thanks! Love Love Love your blog!

Michelle Dixon - I made this but used rosemary and lemongrass essential oils. It turned out amazing!!

Sherry Cartwright - I made peppermint scrub for my sisters for Christmas, too. It is so delightful.

Melissa - Just made this! Can’t wait to use it. Thanks for the recipe. I had “uplifting candy cane” essential oil in my bathroom cabinet so it was perfect!

Cheryl E - Thanks for sharing this! I asked for a sugar scrub for Christmas and it was like $15.00! Now, I can make my own!

Kerri - How many jars – and what size jars – does one batch make? I want to try this but want to know what jars I need. Thanks!

Cassie - I’ve done the peppermint amazing! BUT I have also done coconut lime w/ a splash of lemon great for summer.

April R - a good friend gave me a jar with lemon and olive oil 🙂 wonderful!

Susanne - Sweet! I’ve been feeling like I needed a project!

Ashley - Where is mine? 🙂

Julie - Yum – bet you feel wide awake and invigorated after using that. Will definitely be making some for me. Thanks for the recipe.

Anne - That looks so easy!! I might have to try it.

One question: does it make your shower or tub slippery and/or leave a residue behind?

Brittany - My niece made me a citrus vanilla sugar scrub for Christmas and I love it! It’s definitely an awesome gift to give AND get!! She used a recipe, very similar to yours, from here: http://savedbygraceblog.com/?s=sugar+scrub

Melissa Smith - This looks so wonderful! Can’t wait to try!
Two Questions for you:
What kind of dog is Stanley? He is adorable.
