wednesday…..

we had some pretty HOT nights with the AC broken upstairs.

finally we had to sleep in the living room.

it was on the summer list but i wanted to make it a fun night not forced and saying “EVERYONE GO TO SLEEP!!!!”

so we will try again with a little more planning.

today is waffle’s birthday….apparently.
his sister bella sent him a message on facebook. 🙂

we may celebrate later.

treat tuesday was OREO Brownie bites from HERE.

they were SO YUMMY.
the batter was awesome.
the Oreo frosting…..for reals….good.

of course in our family they were gone in a couple of hours.

my kids are watching Jurassic Park today.
that is such a good movie.
kinda scary but SO good.
that scene just happened…jeff G yelled “GET THE KIDS!!!” and i choked on tears!
i have seen it no less than 20 times but i still teared up…what would i do if giant dinosaurs were after my kids?!

annie lost her tooth FINALLY while at her grandma’s house.
she gave me this note with her tooth in it.
and MIRACULOUSLY….the tooth fairy came on the first night.
first time for everything.

i spent my morning with sweet baby tanner.

he never made a peep.
newborns are….the best thing in the whole wide world.
i mean that.
there is NOTHING better.
they are my favorite favorite favorite.
even if they cry and poop and barf on me.
i don’t care.
they are the best part of God’s creation.

i want one so bad.

he could quit his day job…..

let's just call him Magnum P.I. from now on.

he checked on my phone through t-mobile & got all the numbers that had been called since i'd lost it friday night.
i had lost my phone 30 minutes away from home.
he called them.
he got names and figured out who took it and was using it.
and then talked to the thief's neighbor!
she said "what?! that is terrible! i will go and get it for you! that is AWFUL!"
and she called back with my phone.
Magnum drove to her house and picked it up and surprised me with it.
we are sending the neighbor a thank you gift!

he is awesome.

like….way awesome.

so yeah…….i googled magnum pi and there were over a million results for images.
a million!?!
that is pretty crazy.
and worthy of a picnik collage don't you think??

come on….you know you want THAT on your pinterest!

when i look at those pictures i feel like i am 6 years old.
my uncle had that mustache….my parent's friends had those….everyone!
can't you hear his voice in your head???? smoldery tom selleck…..mmmmm.

but you can't stop there……i had to YOUTUBE him.

and then i found you can find full episodes on hulu from season one!

oh my.

how was that for a monday morning post???

there was NO WAY you saw that coming.

chrissie grace has had a FABULOUS response to the fundraiser for Davis!

she was crying and texting me.

long weekend

we relaxed.
it was really nice.
last night as i drifted in and out of that first sleep i said to craig "thank you for just hanging out this weekend"
i loved just being together and being low key.

thank you $40 fire pit from home depot 5 years ago for bringing tradition and comfort to our family.

thanks groupon for an awesome 2 hours of fun.

thanks pioneer woman for your cookbook.

thanks coffee for all you do for me.

thanks craig for putting up the pool…..it is my summer sanity.

thank you pasta and sauce for making my stomach so happy.

thank you dairy queen for helping dry annie's tears from being left out and heart broken.
and thank you to the two 80 year old men talking so loudly to each other in the booth next to us for helping me remember Memorial Day is more than a day off.
they were talking about riding the train with Hoover to the troops!!
and seeing Roosevelt!
it was awesome to eavesdrop. :)

loved it.

we are making the summer list TODAY.
i meant to do it all weekend but just didn't.
so today's the day.

well…..i don't have a pinterest page. :)

i just go and browse.

is there a benefit to following someone?
can you see more than what is there when you look at someone's page?

i know that i could pin and like and follow….but for now…i just like to look.

butterflies

i saw this craft after the years of different butterfly punch art and i was finally ready.

i had pictures of annie painting the paper but they have disappeared.

the first step is to watercolor paint on paper.
paint all over with pattern or with out….less water makes for brighter colored paint.
and let it dry.

then punch out as many butterflies as you can.

i bought this martha stewart butterfly punch at joann’s.
they are not cheap but it was on sale and they do have 40% off coupons quite often.
and THAT punch is really cool.
VERY easy to use!
it’s in two pieces so you can punch out from any part of the paper not just on the edge.
VERY COOL.
i get why it costs more than the other brands….quality.
it’s martha! what would you expect?

we used 10×10 canvases also from joann’s….i wished i had bigger canvases….like 20 x 20 would have been great!

the girls painted them with acrylic paint.
it was fine to have the streaks in the paint….i liked it.

when the paint was dry they plugged in their glue guns and got to work with a pile of colorful butterflies.
we bent them in the middle and put a tiny dot of hot glue in the center of the back of the butterfly.

i couldn’t love it more.
it’s so pretty.
talby’s was turquoise…..annie wanted turquoise….there were tears….sigh.

annie’s was yellow.
much to her disappointment.
but still lovely and sunny.

i wanted to make 10 of them.
for me.
i love this.
you should make one too.
your kids will be very proud of themselves for making REAL art for the walls.

my kids get out of school today.
i am not ready for that.

i AM ready for….

sleeping in.
swimming.
sun tans.
lightning bugs.
watermelon.
iced coffee.
flip flops for 3 months.
popsicles.
bike rides.
sonic happy hour.
sunshine.
vacation.

but just hope that i can handle being a full time mommy again.
i have had all these quiet days since september…and now that is long gone.
adjustment to summer is hard.
but there is no going back.
just gotta jump in with both feet.
give myself a pep talk…..
YOU CAN DO IT…..BE STRONG…..it’s only 3 MONTHS….MAKE IT FUN…..GO MEG!….
you’re good enough you’re smart enough…..

i hope that works.

we need to make our summer list 2011.
that always cheers me up.

sunny evening

we finally got a break in the heat.
it rained this afternoon while i got a wonderful nap.
which was promptly interrupted by three kids jumping on me.
oh…..it was soooooo funny…..not.

anyway….the heat has lifted.
the windows are open.
the cicadas are singing really loudly.
i am letting my kids watch a movie till way past bedtime…..Kit Kittredge.
(the boys are so starved for tv they are even watching it!)
it is a good night.

these girls…..have been fighting every day all summer.
talby wants to be left alone and annie wants to be with talby 24/7 ….that is the main reason for the fighting.
so this short little break for an hour outside was really nice.
they were quoting movie lines and giggling like crazy.

this week i am going to jam whatever else i can into our days.
we still have about ten things on the summer list.
ten things in three days?
oh my.

craft thursday #7

hey look…..it's actually thursday when i posted craft thursday!
cool.

stepping stones was on the summer list.

i could make this stuff every day….well at least for a week.

there are cheaper ways to make these….but i didn't want to mess up…or risk them not turning out.
so i went with the tried and true KIT.
we bought 3 boxes at hobby lobby.
and the plastic molds too.

i made each one sepreately.
very easy….1 cup of water and the bag of cement.
mix.

till it looks like this.
you can add more water if it seems too thick.

pour it in the mold and smooth it out.
i used the paint stick and then i shook it side to side and THEN i patted it down with my hands.

then i let them go crazy with beads, glass bubbles, tiles, broken dishes and our junk collection.

what i love about mosaics is that you can practically use ANYTHING.

this project is messy and takes prep.
but i loved it.

my mirror was one of my favorite projects i ever made.
i need to make more stuff like that.

there is not enough time to make all that i want to make!!!

i still have TONS of michigan pictures to share.
but i wasn't in the mood today.

talby is gone this week visiting my parents.
i miss her.
have i ever mentioned how much she cleans?
she cleans up all the time….seems to love it.
her siblings….do not.
not at all.

i took sean and annie for their school supplies yesterday.
what a difference to have only two along side me.
it was a REALLY nice day together.

annie got rainbow tennis shoes.
they are THE perfect shoes for my baby girl.

sara jane….loved running into you at target!

i am thinking of going back to no sugar again.
but i am also thinking about making julie's peanut butter fudge today.
or pioneer woman's blueberry crumb cake.

i am so happy that there is a drink i love at starbucks that is under $3.
Venti ice coffee.
yum.
$3 is better than $5.

(my weird logic that i doubt craig agrees with)

we have XM radio in the surburban.
when i am driving it is almost always on Symphony or Pops.
if lauren is in the car it's on country.
and when i am tired of XM radio it's on christian music.
but my iPod is full of all kinds of music…..lots of everything.

AND we have been listening Micheal Buble radio on pandora….ALL. THE. TIME.
it's got a mix of modern and old.
it's a good one.

there are 24 days until school starts.
we have 23 things left on our summer list.
hmmmmm……
we had bettter get busy.

so…..do you have any questions for me?
i am feeling talkative.
or lonely?
whichever it is….now is your chance to ask me something you've been dying to know.
like "how did you get that lovely figure i saw in your video?"
answer: birthing 5 babies and lots of hostess cupcakes.
