WHAT? YOU ARE KIDDING?! NO WAY?!!!

that was my end of the phone conversation.

mr. craig bought a new (used) truck off craigslist today…heh heh…craigslist…ha.

i haven't seen it.

he was driving it home to me.

we talked on the phone about our day…the kids…blah blah blah…bye, see you soon.

the phone rang again five minutes later….

"i hit a deer"

i couldn't believe it.

the deer made it (of course…)

the truck was leaking lots of stuff making it unsafe to drive.

so i packed up all the kids to drive to pick him up 25 minutes from town.

we went for pizza and then to the drive-in movie.

i was distracted.

and crabby.

what a a crazy thing to happen…he hadn't had it even three hours!

i am so grateful craig was ok.

i came outside and told scott what happened he froze and said "is dad ok?!"

i said "yes…he's fine" but i was aware how easily it could've been so much worse.

the look on scott's face was heartbreaking.

he was scared.

grateful.

trucks are fixable…it will be fine.

stupid deer.

Jodi - I should send you the picture of our car after Chad hit a COW!!! In the dark…. in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma..Thanksgiving night…..oh the nightmare!
:o)

traci - and now you know why we hunt them. way too many in our area – very dangerous.
i am so glad that craig is ok. you’re right, it could have been worse. good thing he was in a big vehicle. sorry about the new truck.

Kathy - OMG I’m so sorry! Glad your Craig is okay I hope the damage in minimal!

se7en - Oh good grief, that is an awful thing to happen, whichever way you look at it. There is never a good time for an accident, whatever the cause or the outcome. They seem to knock everyone sideways. Frankly I think you guys handled it extremely well – good grief you even turned it into an outing!!! I hope everyone in your family catches their balance soon.
lots of love.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Glad he’s okay, but that really does suck. I feel your pain!

DreamGirlLisa - OMG! What a funny (sort of) story. I love how you kept it all positve, and especially that you went out to eat and to the drive-in anyway. Once my mom and I were leaving to take my 2 daughters to the pumpkin patch…I was driving, and proceeded to back right into my mom’s car on the way out of the driveway! We went anyway and dealt w/ the damage later…I did this again to my best friend’s car when were leaving to go shopping one day. Same thing, we proceeded on our fun day of browsing and dealt w/ the damage later(both times the damage was to my car, in the same spot on the bumper!)

Rach - Funny how kids put it all into perspective eh? 🙂 So glad everyone is OK.

Sarah Beth - So glad he was ok! It could of been so much worse! Safety is of the Lord!! You can replace a car, but husbands are irreplaceable! Hopefully the insurance will cover it!

Lorilee - I’m so glad Craig is OK. My daily drive to my school is through an area full of deer. I have only had one really close call in 23 years!
Blessings,
Lorilee

purejoy - wow. so glad he wasn’t driving a car!! and yeah, deers are pretty stupid.

sandy toe - That is so disappointing…sorry that happened!
sandy toe

jennifer - Praise the LORD that Craig is ok.
Stupid deer is right!

Sandy - Imagining Scott’s face and hearing his very grown up, “is dad ok?” brought tears to my eyes. No child should ever be without a parent. I’m glad Craig is ok!!

kelley - stupid deer. crazy. things like this just don’t happen in the oc! glad he is ok.

Amy - We once got hit on the way home from the dealership. The van we bought was a replacement for another that got smashed by a tree. Luckily no one was hurt. I’m glad Craig is okay. There’s bad luck (damage to stuff that can be replaced), and there’s BAD luck. Good thing you and the kids were not with him.

Lanny Stanard - Oh no ! I’m so sorry but glad hubbys okay ! try and have a good week-end…
Lanny 😀

Arlene - Yip – trucks are fixable.
Husband and Daddys – not so much.
Given our current tragedy.
I AS SO GRATEFUL for your family.

Heather - Oh, I’m sorry! Those kind of phone calls are terrible as is the luck in hitting a dear with a brand-spanking new truck. Ouch! Love that your family turned it into an opportunity for pizza and a movie together:)

charlane - glad everyone is ok for sure

Vera - So glad he’s okay!! How scary. I hate those phone calls.

Marie - wow! it can be a scary thing. we hit a deer on our way to pick up our oldest from school. it dented the hood of our van and there was blood everywhere. we didn’t stop because the deer ran off back into the woods, but when we got to isabella’s school, we saw that there was blood everywhere! i thank the Lord it didn’t break our windshield cause it could have been much worse. Praise God your hubby is ok.

Lisa Clear - Wow that is super crazy. Glad your hubby is okay. What kind of luck is that. Looks like her got nice car. Deer are crazy and unpredictable that is for sure, L

Penny - I am glad Craig is fine. We have deer around here everywhere. My best friend had her truck repaired from a minor fender bender with a tree in her woods. That same night she left for work and a deer hit her as she drove out of her driveway. $3,100 damages! She was fine, the deer ran off. But still the same day she had her truck repaired!
I am glad Craig is fine, you’ll look back and laugh and this will be that story you tell the grandkids.

AnNicole@OurSuburbanCottage - Oh my gosh! That’s awful. I’m glad everyone’ ok, but man oh man…what are the chances of hitting a deer the same day your buy a new car?!

Jenny Law - Where do you go to a drive in?

priscilla - I’m glad tat is truck juice, not deer juice.

Holly - that is awful that the deer would just jump out of no where and hit his truck! There doesnt that sound like a better story! Glad he is okay!

lydee - glad he’s okay. sucks thought. stupid deer.

Amber - This is the kinda stuff I go through. Murphy’s Law!!

Jess - Whew! Glad that Craig was okay. (and the deer too)
One of the most traumatic things that ever happened to me was when I was little, about 9, my mom was driving us home from a doctors appointment and a deer jumped out of the woods and landed on the hood of our car! We were okay, and very lucky that it didn’t break through the windshield. I didn’t want to get back into a car for quite a while after that.
