my grandmother.

she is something special.

she received The Sustainer Award from the Junior League.
my parents, craig, annie & i went to a lovely luncheon where they surprised her with the award.
she didn't know we were there.
it was quite sneaky.

to present the award a Fairy Tale Princess appeared.
(bonnie bing of the wichita eagle)
IMG_6517

she read a silly poem full of details about my grandmother and it ended with her name.
it was creative, witty and light hearted.

she was so surprised.

IMG_6522

they brought her to the front of the room…
she turned and saw all of us there with her friends and was even more surprised.

IMG_6524
she looked right at my mom and said "are you going to stay…i need you to fix my skype"
everyone got a kick out of that.
my grandmother is 91 and she reads this blog…she emails…and SHE SKYPES!
she is the coolest grandma in the world.

IMG_6528

they told stories of her service all these many many years in the junior league,
thousands of hours and decades with the wichita children's home
and raising five children.

she is amazing.

IMG_6536
this is her telling the group "i really don't deserve this…."
and she meant it.
always so humble.
she has been a beautiful example of grace and class my entire life.

IMG_6546
the two princesses.
grandma…you looked so pretty in your pink suit!

annie was being shy most of the day.
which is better than being loud and crazy.
even the princess couldn't get her to talk.

IMG_6550
IMG_6557
her friends watched her open her gift…gave her hugs and congratulated her.

it was so fun to see her get all that attention.
and to see how she is respected and loved by so many.

afterwards we went back to her house and my mom fixed her skype.
πŸ™‚

i love you grandma.

everyone loves my grandmother.
if you met her…you'd love her too.
she IS something special.

~kelli~ - Somehow I came across your blog…I couldn’t even tell you how….but I’m glad I did. What a wonderful treasure you have in your grandmother.
My grandmother passed away this Thursday (4/30), just 2 weeks shy of her 91st birthday. I already miss her so very much….but, I am filled with a lifetime of beautiful, wonderful memories and I know she is in my heart and is still very much a part of me.
πŸ™‚

field trip

i spent the day on a first grade field trip.

IMG_6464 IMG_6471

i was in charge of three girls for the day…wandering the zoo.

IMG_6482

usually when i take my kids to the zoo we don't stay too long.
we have member passes so we can go whenever.
we go and see a few things and then go home.
all day was a long time for me to wander the zoo! (boo hoo right?  cue the violins…)

IMG_6492 IMG_6500

i felt like that giraffe.
bad mommy.

we said goodbye at the bus….i drove to hobby lobby for a whirlwind visit.
grabbed a giant sonic happy hour drink…
buzzed back home.

got a HUGE headache at 4:30 that put me to bed at 6:00 for 45 minutes.

i did not feed my kids dinner.
annie came in while i was resting my head and whined about 4 times "i'm hun-gry
(it WAS dinner time)
but instead of being nice and sweet…
i yelled "then go get some food!"
(she does it all day everyday on her own with out any help from me…)
she started to cry and left the room.
my head was still pounding and i was back asleep within a minute.
later we found her asleep in her bed.
poor annie…probably cried herself to sleep from mean old migraine mommy dearest…with no dinner!

so there it is.
monday.
bleck.
it's over.
good riddance.

alyssa - Thanks for being honest about being grouchy to your kids. Makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one!

traci - that sucks. i have had 1 migrane. it was terrible. made me puke. i never want another one, ever.

Karina - Oh my, you make me LAUGH! That picture of the giraffe, and that’s how you feel at the zoo – HA! Thank you for making the everyday so much fun, and with gorgeous photos too (I am saving up for a camera like yours!)!

kat - Oh dear, migraines truly are the worst. I suffer from them too, luckily I only get a few a year though. We have all had moments when we have yelled at our children, they get over it quickly. I hope your feeling better!!!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - You are such a hoot. I have to agree with another commentor up there on the list. I too have been “blog stalking” you. Your blog never fails to make me laugh, smile or cry. I just love the way you write and your photos are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for being such a big part of my blogging day!!

purejoy - i want that giraffe picture for every time i have a migraine (almost a 3x a week occurance, and usually have some level of a headache every day. sorry you were hurting, and it’s totally understandable to bark at your kids when you want to rip your head from your body. a little mommy love makes it all better.
good luck with the head.

danie - So I have been “blog stalking” you since December and I LOVE your Blog! I check nearly every day. You have taken the place of Martha Stewart in my heart LOL! Today I was having a rather hard mommy day and thought of your blog. And I thought “man if I could just get it together too!” But I knew you couldn’t be perfect and wondered what you struggle with. Then I logged on this evening and low and behold you are normal like the rest of us! I just knew it had to be true! God bless you for sharing your life with us all, it is such an encouragement to craft, decorate, befriend, create and mother!!!

Sarah - I’m sorry you had a bad Monday but I am glad that you were so real about it. We all have days like this!

Carmen - Hope you are feeling better. Our school does the same thing for first and second grade, a trip to the zoo and the parents are the ones that watch the kids. The teachers “supervise” from the picnic tables. I know they work very hard at school but it is so much responsibility to watch 2 or 3 other kids! Last year I had to do it 2 weeks in a row. No trip to the zoo this year!

Cris Marsh - Migraines are the worst….
Love you new blog banner…

Linda - I don’t know you, but you are hilarious! Its so great when a mom is real–it makes all of us feel better for the times when we’ve been mommy migraine. Thanks for making my day a little lighter

Jess - aahhhh! welcome to the club!!! you are one of us….you had us fooled for a while with all of your craftyness, cute dog,and happy rainbow kid! you just made us all feel a little bit more normal! sorry about the headache…thanks for being real! hope today was better!

krystall - thanks for being real

adrienne - hilarity! we all certainly have our moments. try excedrin for the headache- works for me.

adrienneK - this made me feel better…to know that you…scream(too) im not a crazy screaming looney or something but i do loose it from time to time:( hope today is bette<3
adrienneK

Laura - don’t get me started on the zoo (I, too, have posted on a visit to the dreaded place)
When we go, we are lucky to see TWO animals.
My kids want to buy the expensive food
then the ice cream
then we see the alligator
then cry that it is too hot
and we leave.
there ya have it. trip to the zoo.
now, stop reading, and go make Annie dinner….

sandy toe - Field Trip=Headache…it did as a “teacher” and now as a “parent”…
sandy toe

Keri - Ugh…I feel your pain. Migraines suck. And, usually, so do field trips. =)

carissa... brown eyed fox - love your new header… perfection!
and i just have to say… THANK YOU… thank you for being you… and being true… i am NOT alone!
πŸ™‚ the “validation” just brought tears to my eyes!
love to you! and big ‘ol hugs too!

Lori Danelle - I’m so jealous!!!! Wichita has an incredible zoo. We try to make a visit whenever we are in town. But I definitely hear you on the joys of having a membership and short visits! With my 2 year-old we sometimes last a half hour, we sometimes make it 3, but it so nice not to feel like you MUST stay all day to make it worth the money. Everyone enjoys themselves and you get to see different things each visit!

Chasity - here is to a new day!!!
chasity

heather h - LOVE your honesty…it was refreshing πŸ˜‰
And I agree with all the above-we all have those days

Victoria - Ugh…migraines are the worst…especially when there are small children involved! Thanks for being real.

Courtney - That gave me a good chuckle… thank you! πŸ™‚

Lisa - Oh Meg,
Don’t feel too bad. We all have a Monday like that once in a while. Annie knows you love her. I would have cried too if you deprived me of your fantastic cooking πŸ™‚
Take care,
Lisa

Trish - Life is like that. I just yelled at my daughter for not focusing while getting dressed. The mean part about that is she has a REALLY difficult time doing it… she has CP. Why do we take things out on our kids? We always feel horrible afterwards, and it never gets us anywhere? Somedays I want to pray for more patience, but then I realize to get more patience you have to go through more things that try your patience. This rain doesn’t help me. Hope you headache goes away. Glad you keep it real for all!

Lyndsey - My Chicken Blanch looks like she had a twin on your field trip! Check her out on my blog…
http://www.puravidaculture.com/search/label/Chickens

Wendy - All day at a zoo with kids? Wow, that’s just asking for a headache…

Jeana - hi! I’ve been lurking your AMAZING blog too, and GOSH you’re mean lol. I just wanted to stop in and and say thank you too….for keeping it real. I often feel like this with 3 little boys and one is special needs. Mine happen all too often I’m sure, but I’m learning to grasp this life God has given me and really enjoy it more often! I hope today is a happier one for you and little Annie =]

Christina - Yes, hoping your day is better today-and what I have to say is at least you can blame your behavior on a wicked headache and not just your personality (which some other people I know-um, myself-are just stinky at parenthood and have those moments more frequently). My husband makes up for my wacky tendencies with lots of love, understanding, and wisdom for my kids!
And great pictures, by the way.

traci - I remember a fieldtrip that just ZAPPED me. I somehow made it thru the day (even road a loud, bouncy bus back), fell into bed and slept for about 2 hours with a HORRIBLE headache!! Teachers who do it daily are amazing. I teach 3 times a week and it zaps me….by the way…..great pics and Im sure Annie will recover..lol.

Angela Conklin - I miss my kids being little. I do not miss field trips.

Tracy - Aww…. Meg – I hope you have a much better day today and that migraine is gone so poor little Annie doesn’t get mistreated again and sent to bed with no food – LOL – you KNOW I am JUST kidding – right?! I actually THREATENED my kids (who are both 15) with sending them to bed the other night with no dinner and they laughed at me! They said that was child abuse! LOL Sooo… I feel your pain and I am sorry that the zoo day was a bad day all the way around – however, on an upside – you got some GREAT pictures, as usual! Have a great day, Meg! {{{BIG HUGS}}} Trac~ :o)

Vera - Ha! One time I had a migraine and my 3 year old wouldn’t stop playing in my closet pulling clothes off hangers, but I was in too much pain to close the door or give her something else to do, so I told her there was a giant spider in my closet. It worked. I’m going to have to show her that picture of the giraffe – it’s awesome, and those are her favorite animals!

lorel - Perhaps the mildewy rainforest and muddy barnyard induced your migraine?
I haven’t been on any of Macy’s field trips. I figure the other parents can do that – I see the kids every day! AFter reading your post, it is probably a fair trade. Hope today is better.

Ruth - Oh bless your heart! Field trips did me in everytime! But now I miss them. What’s a mom to do??

amy (not corey) - So we have 3 more field trips yet before school is out. How many can I put you down for??? πŸ™‚ I just wrote in Talby’s planner, “Thanks again for coming with us yesterday! I hope you enjoyed it!” I guess I know the answer to that, huh? You were probably really hating GB and I yesterday. I think it was the best field trip I’ve ever been on! πŸ™‚
Take a nap today. And a bath.

Becky - meg, i nearly squealed with delight when i saw your comment. the only thing that made me cover my mouth was my sleeping 10 month old. i mean, i’m not ready to walk out the door yet, so why wake her, right? i have those days too. and i have NO idea why i haven’t commented yet. i’m usually pretty good at making myself at home. to borrow a word from erika and darby, i would love to snorgle the face of that cute waffle.

Kat - You are the meanest!
Kidding!
Poor Sam and Stone have seen me like this a few times.
Hope today is better!

Katy Durec - I’ve recently started lurking on your blog, and I appreciate your honesty in this story! I can resonate with it all too well, and I only have one small child! πŸ™‚ BTW – Your house is amazing!

Brooke - ooohh lady…i call this “mean mommy mode” unfortunately my girls know the term all too well…thank goodness kids seem to have quicker reset/forgive/forget buttons than adults do! i am sure you and annie will have an awesome tuesday…at least that is what i am hoping for you this a.m.!

katherine - oh boy… what a day… it’s good to know that I’m not the only one that suffers bleck Mondays! Lucky me… I’m going to miss my son’s pre K zoo trip. I’ll be out of town with the baby! My dear mil is stepping in. phew.

kasey - you can join me in the mom of the year award! lol.
{come join me today on my photo challenge girl}
xo

Aby - WOW!! You ARE real!!!! You mean you’re not the constantly perfect, constantly creative, constantly attentive, constantly cool mom I’ve been thinking you are all this time!??! You have no idea the pressure you just took off of me!!!! LOL!!! Hope you’re feeling better… Annie too!!

Jess - Yes, thanks for keeping it real. I have been guilty of doing the same. Today is a new day! Smiles and hugs!!!

Christy Lewis - I LOVE your blog! Everyday I tune in to see what super hero mom act you are doing for that day……… I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you don’t hide anything! Glad to see that I am not the only mommy who gets migrain so bad that I have to hide in my bed and pray that no one finds me (some how they always do)! Hope you have a better Tuesday!

Julia - In my book the first mistake was going to the zoo. Friday I just DROPPED OFF my daughter, 4 of her classmates and her teacher and yelled “see you at 12:30” as I was speeding away. I don’t do zoos. My kids can blame me as much as they want for their lack of zoo time. I’m not buying it.
I do wish I was there for the Sonic run. When the kids and I go to Walmart (right next door) we try to time it to get there at happy hour. Once I had them scattered all over the store getting groceries so we could get there by 4. Serious business.

Mary Elizabeth - i hope your tuesday is more pleasant and no headaches .. those can just end any good times … for everyone involved. so hip hip hooray for tuesday today!!! have fun, hug annie 10 times extra today for her crying and all will be well again!!! πŸ™‚

Lorelei - Thanks Meg for keepin’ it real!!

Sara - here’s a big hug for you! I leave today for a 3 day (overnight) 8th grade field trip to Huntsville Alabama (space camp)and I am NOT very excited about it. I’m sure I will feel like the Giraffe…

Sandy - We’ve all been there. Knowing the great mom you are, you and Annie will both feel all better today. Here’s to a happy Tuesday!

ElizabethE - I hate field trips — honestly, haven’t our kids done enough?

dellie - You are such a classic – I know exactly how that feels. I stayed up late last night and my son decided to wake me at 6:30, which to some may seem late but for him is really very early …and I was not a happy camper!

she’s a rainbow….

IMG_6189

have you seen these?
sidewalk CRAYONS.
they are sidewalk chalk that are super bright.
it makes chalk drawing even more fun.
i highly recommend them.

i got them at wal-mart…$5.

Julie - I love this happy picture! I bought sidewalk chalk yesterday because of it and I don’t have kids. Not sure what I’m going to do with them, but $5! There’s gotta be more than 5 bucks worth of something fun to do with them…Your blog has been a happy discovery for me. Thank you!

Michelle - Your daughter makes me smile! She is so cute.
My 7 year old daughter seems to have similar fashion sense–whatever feels good and makes her happy is what she wants to wear. My husband, who admittedly is bothered sometimes by her outrageous fashion sense, said she looks like a walking crayola box and hence nicknamed her “Crayola”. Of course, she finds this hilarious!
Anyway, after I saw your post about the sidewalk crayons, I had to get them for her as a special treat! Thanks!

Carrie K - greatest picture EVER!!
shes such a sweet kid and a fantastic dresser…the socks are my favorite part!! heeheeheee

julie - i’ve read your blog for awhile. I love it! we actually have your husband’s pancakes almost every weekend! πŸ˜‰ Just had to come out of lurkerville…that picture is so stinkin ADORABLE! I love all your shots…but this one takes the cake.
Julie in Washougal, WA

Linda@ Restyled Home - That picture brings tears to my eyes, it is so adorable. You are brilliant to do it. Mine would look like a generic stick figure, but I am so inspired I just might copy you anyway. Of course, I will give you full credit…maybe they will think you did the awful drawing!! πŸ™‚
You are such a sweet mum, even if you do yell when you get a migraine. Thank goodness for that, or else I’d just feel bad about myself…!!!!
Cheers,
Linda

gina - I did see those last Thursday a t WalMart… and now I’m going to go back and BUY them.

Tracy - Annie is just a doll, Meg! I look forward every day to seeing what you are going to have on your blog from the day before and sharing in your day to day lives. I love seeing what clothes she throws together! You may just have a future fashionista on your hands! My daughter, when she was young, did the same thing and now she looks like she just stepped out of a magazine and is only 15! She sure didn’t get it from me because I personaly prefer tshirts and jeans any day over dressing up! HA! I guess she got her taste from her friends and from the fashion magazines – which, ironically, she wants to be when she grows up – a fashion designer! Have a great day, Meg! Hugs, Trac~ :o)

Beth - Love that and gotta try that crayon/chalk. Do you have one of those spin-art chalk things from crayola?

emily :] - i lovee sidewalk chalk. is that okay for an eighteen year old? & i’m going out & buying that asap.

Aubrey - that’s cute–you made her dress, didn’t you?

Christy - Annie is so stinkin cute! I always love her outfits.
That chalk looks awesome. I will have to get some. Not pastel like the normal chalk, cool! My son loves to make houses with his chalk.

Margaret - We love sidewalk chalk around here. I may have to go get some of that. My son has a chalkboard wall in his room, and he often uses sidewalk chalk on it.

Sarah - Fantastic!
I love sidewalk chalk πŸ™‚
And i love the self portrait!

Trina McNeilly - These look fabulous.. we love sidewalk chalk.
You lucky thing you… going to U2 in Chicago.. I was suppose to go to that very one but am not now.. it is a very sore spot so I shall leave it at that.
I am with you with the dreaming of getting pulled up on stage….maybe you should pray about it… God will give you the desires of your heart — ha ha!
Have a great week!
x Trina

Kim - Wish I had a sidewalk!

Anna - Ooooo, aaaahhhh! :o)
I am gonna have to get me some of those for my Addie (and me too)! Assuming you drew the picture…GOOD JOB!!!

Aby - Too, too cute!! I wish I was as much fun as you!! So do my kids!!!

Amanda - That is the most adorable picture…. oh neat!
God bless-
Amanda

Chasity - that little girlie has a style all her own…love it!
she seems like a fantastically fun girl to be around.
have a great week.
chasity
those dog photos….i can’t believe it’s the same dog!
he is wonderfully goofy.

a thorn among roses - those are cute…and my girlie pies love the more pattern and more colorful look too! well, so do i, for them anyway!

Erin - Meg, I really enjoy scrolling through your blog & looking at your photos. You have such a great eye for detail & composition. Thank you for sharing what you see with us!

erica - ok first of all your little girl dresses EXACTLY how i always imagined my daughter (whenever i have one LOL) will dress! i LOVE little girls with their own style! and second those sidewalk crayons look so cool! i’ll have to try them out, my 2 yr old little boy will love them!

Meredith - She is truly the most photogenic child isn’t she? I’ll be on the look out for those crayons, but I’m not sure that we’ll have them in Australia yet. (We’re usually at least six months behind in K-mart stock)

Kristen - Adorable!

N. - lol! I have a 4.5 year old who dresses very similarly…

Kate - man, i would’ve loved that as a kid, because sidewalk chalk in general is hard to hold, or was that just me? and the crayon shape seems like it’d be easier to grasp. plus the whole brighter colors. i do love me some brightness.
and she has the BEST fashion sense. i love it.
-kate

Wendy - Ooo! I need some of those! I might even let my daughter play with them…
As always, your daughter is adorable!

Joni - What a CUTE photo….LOVE IT! And I miss the days of having kids young enough to get happy about sidewalk chalk…maybe I’ll just go buy ME some! Hehehe! Your little gal has some talent!
XOXO
Joni

Courtney - I totally bought those last week and my kids are working through them FAST. They are so much more interesting than the blah colors that used to be out there. They (Crayola)also have a pack of chalk that has way more colors… like 40 or something… it’s good too! Also, I just made a video with the song “She’s a Rainbow”, so could we be more on the same page? Here’s the vid:
http://www.vimeo.com/4190456

Staci - Cooool! Gonna pick some up tomorrow when I make one of my tri-weekly stops to Target or Walmart πŸ™‚ BTW—Love Waffles new look πŸ™‚ We got our little Westie, Mac, his first cut last week…and when we picked him up…it took a lot of convincing to my little Jake that it REALLY was our Mac!!!!!!

Kat - I love that picture! So adorable!!!

leigh babcock - Wow! She is so cute! I’ll have to get these soon.
Thanks!
Leigh Ann

MGF - Might have to run to Walmart this evening, thanks for sharing. The normal chalk is dull colors and there are so many here.

Starnes Fam - How fun! Have not seen these, but will check them out. Thanks!

Vera - That picture is great. We HAVE TO get some of those crayons – my girls will FLIP for them!! Thanks!

CherryTreeLane - I love this!

Julia - That’s the cutest picture – her socks are adorable.
I’ve noticed that when someone compliments me on something I instantly say “Walmart $6” or just plain “Target” and nothing else. On Easter a girl at church complimented me on my dress and I just looked at her and said “Target” , nodded my head like “you heard me”, and walked away. It’s like some sort of code. So you saying “Walmart $5” means maybe “Can you believe it? I was just walking by the crayola display and I saw them and I couldn’t leave them there. And only for $5!”

sandy toe - How cute~
sandy toe

Kelly - I think I might need some of these for ME! πŸ™‚
What a great self portrait!

just for fun….
Waffle mug shot
************************************************************
by the way…i am almost done with all my etsy orders.
you have all been so patient with me.
it's been a lot work but i have loved it.
i think every time i finish a pillow i say "now THIS is my favorite."
right now there are 12 sitting in the craft room again…waiting to ship out.
i know our postal workers by first name now.
i hope you all love your pillows and shirts as much as i loved making them!

Sarah B - Now that is a Different Dog! Just like my blog. Ha ha.
Love his big goofy grin. Just started reading your blog awhile back…so interesting!

Amanda Willey - Waffle is absolutely adorable! I have a giant Schnauzer that looks just like Waffle, only she is black and in serious need of a new summer do.
Your photos are wonderful!

Emily James - I want Waffles hair back… much much adorable!
I like a hairy Waffles… But of cos I still like him now.

traci - he doesn’t even look like himself. he’s so cute. he does look pretty proud of his new do.

Tracy - I LOVE Waffle’s new haircut! He looks amazing and so much LIGHTER – in the literal sense! :o) Thanks for sharing and I’m sure HE thinks he’s ALL that and a bag of chips every day! Look at how he’s catered to! He has all of you right where he wants you! LOL He’s a doll!
Hugs, Trac~ :o)

Mindy Harris - Our Boston Terrier, Marley, has a tumor in his colon. We find out in a few days if benign or malignant. Do you mind praying for our little guy? He’s only 5 1/2 yrs old.
THANK YOU!

Aubrey - i can’t believe how different he looks–and i think he’s actually smiling about his buzz.

Ashley - He doesn’t even look like the same dog! Our little pup doesn’t have quite as much hair as Waffle but he does have long hair and we are going to take him to the groomers in a few weeks to get it all shaved off for summer. I’m anxious to see how it will turn out.

Elisa - total crack-up!!!

Christy - So cute! He looks like my Lab Tucker. I have two & they are both dorks, but couldn’t love them any less.

Brooke - this is too cute…he looks like he cannot stop smiling…i love it!

Amber Mershawn - I’ve never left you a comment before, mostly because I don’t know you:)….but Waffle, well, he broke the ice with his cuteness. So I had to tell you that I wished I lived in Kansas just so I could meet him! hehe Stinking CUTE! We have a chocolate lab….. & I know dorky dogs. Ugh….

Andrea - That hair cut is hilarious. He looks just like my yellow lab now. Melts my heart. Is he self conscious about the change? Please tell me you got photos of the “process”. Because I would LOVE to see that!

Anya - Waffle looks younger! Like when a bearded man shaves his whole beard off. Very handsome, no wonder he’s strutting around like ‘he’s all that’!

Lyndsey - I love your dog! He is just to cute for words. I’m thinking of giving my dog a makeover now to.

Nina - wow….what a difference! I’m sure Waffle is going to enjoy that hair cut for the summer. And you’re going to enjoy him being much easier to clean up afer those rainy muddy days…….

Anna - OH – MY – GOSH!!! He looks so different but oh so soft! I can’t believe the change. I bet that was fun giving him the cut (assuming you did it). Have a great Sunday!

elizabeth - i can feel her softness through my computer. she must act like a girl after a makeover. Does she strut different. she has to know how how great she looks. I need to know her groomer and need the same done to me.

Diana Parra - Wow! Who is this dog?
He is adorable no matter what his hair length. πŸ™‚

Jamie - OH MY GOSH! He is ADORABLE!!! My heart melted when I saw your first picture. He looks so grown up! He made my night! Just makes me smile. Such a handsome dog under all of the cute curly hair!

Lisa - HE LOOKS ADORABLE. I BET HE IS SOFT!!!
HUGS FROM FLORIDA

Lacey McKay - What? That’s the SAME DOG??? That’s unbelievable! He looks great!

Melissa Moran - Is Waffle a Doodle? We have a goldendoodle named Harvey and we call him the “foreign exchange dog” when we have to shave him down….he even acts like a totally different dog! We love him so much and think he is the greatest! I have heard from other doodle owners that they all feel the same way! Our guy’s name is Harvey, he is 4.

Lauren - I absolutely love waffle with all the hair.. πŸ™‚ i think that the name fits him well! i like him without the hair as well but i think he should be “Pancake” now! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ i think that fits with the no hair waffle! πŸ™‚

wendy - Meg, did you take him to a groomer or do it yourself? He looks great!

vera - i just love waffle he makes me want a dog!

jennymama - I absolutely love your blog! I’ve been on here for nearly an hour trying to find a link to your etsy shop! Can you please email me the name or a link? Your home is GORGEOUS!

Jenny - Waffle is gorgeous!

Jane - I was just about to say “Extreme Makeover- Doggie Edition!” But, Kim beat me to it! I love Waffle both ways! Wish I could pet his chenille coat!

Michelle - Wow. I thought he was a different dog. : )
Michelle

Kasey - Wow, what a makeover! He’s a cutie.

Yard Sale Mama - Waffle is one of the funniest dog names I’ve ever heard!! I would not have believed he was the same dog- what a change! Such a happy guy :o)
~Rachel

amy (not corey) - I saw Craig with him outside last night and couldn’t believe it was the same dog! He looks like a Lab now. Marley’s face and ears and tail are all still so fluffy… how did they shave Waffle’s ears and tail?! Very cute.

shelby - haha look how happy he looks!! he look so much happier than your previous post! i love it!!!

jimaiemarie - omg, that is NOT the same dog LOL!! Gosh, that it so darn cute!! I love that he REALLY DOES look proud of himself!!! haha, go waffle!

Julia - The only thing that looks the same is the nose!

Deputy's Wife - Oh my goodness! Look at the transformation! He’s a new dog!

Shannan - I LUV my pillow! As for Waffle, he looks like an impostor! A very cute one.

Kate - oh my gosh! that does not look like the same dog. both versions of waffle are cute as… a cute dog, though.
and i thought i was the only one who wore christmas pajamas past christmas. haha.
-kate

joy joy - all i can say is wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowo

Aby - Oh my! He looks like two totally different dogs!!! He’s precious either way, but I LOVED his “curly” hair!!

Sarah - Wow! He looks so different!
I think it’s so funny that dogs totally react to a haircut.
He looks real good!
But, I think I’d miss his goofy shaggy look πŸ™‚

kristin - no.

Sophie - Awwwwwwww!
You can see his little knobbly knees. ^.^
Can you say adorable?

kat - Holy Moly!!! I can’t believe how much different he looks! Such a handsome boy. I think he looks great both ways! “Waffle” is seriously the best dog name ever. Who named him?

Vera - He is SO cute, and those are great pictures!! Every time I try to get on the floor to take a picture of our dog, he comes bouncing over and I just get a picture of some fur.

Penny - Waffle!! Waffle the coolest dog ever! How handsome and young he looks. He should have his own blog! He would have a huge following.

Jennifer Wilson-Miller - Wow what a difference. I have to get my goldendoodle cut soon too, now I know he will look like a new dog!

Liz - I love your pooch and, oh my gosh, how grown up does he look now?

Mary Elizabeth - Are you sure you didn’t go borrow a different dog for pictures? heehee πŸ™‚ He looks so handsome! You did a great job and he must be a great boy to have sat still for oyu to do it.

Melanie - Hi Meg! We have a maltipoo (not as big as Waffle) and he looks the same way before & after a haircut. My son doesn’t like it when we get him shaved. He is overweight & has a small head & Caden thinks he looks weird:) Did a groomer cut him or did Craig? Waffle is so cute and he has turned out to be HUGE!

traci - Haircut completely changes the look of a dog just like a person..lol Doesnt look AT ALL like the same dog. I wouldnt be surprised if people asked where Waffle was..lolol
He looks like the greatest dog ever!!!!!

Sandy - I love Waffle with and without hair. I still dream of getting a dog just like Waffle! Haven’t found him yet though.
Enjoy summer, Waffle!

Lanny Stanard - He is all that and a bag of chips and a hat and even a tee shirt! I LOVE IT… give him a big kiss!
Lanny…

Ruth - No waaaay!! He just dropped about 20 dog years πŸ˜‰
Crazy – hopefully taking off his winter jacket will spur on the summer to come already!

Danielle - Meg, I too would love to order some pillows —don’t know if that was a temporary deal for Cora or not but I could even pick them up —I’m super close- all my family lives in N-town. Let us know if you plan to do more.

Katie - He is such a cute dog! What breed is he?

ang - Wow!!!! What a haircut!!!!
Love my pillow, especially the sock monkey fabric! Definitely my favorite!

Michelle - I love it! We have a mini poodle (and who knows what else) who looks like Waffle only black hair, every time we shave him the cat won’t go near him for a few days thinking that we brought a new dog home. I am sure Waffle will enjoy his new cooler hair cut now that the weather is warming up.

Wendy - Wow! He doesn’t even look like the same breed anymore! Of course, he’s adorable both ways…

Karen~ - Oh my goodness! He’s probably thinking I can see now! He is a very cute dog!
Karen~

CherryTreeLane - SO awesome. Love the banner!

sandy toe - Meg..I can’t find your etsy shop. I would like to order the red pillow with the white soft polka dots on the back…can you give me some info?
Debbie@djgteach.com

sandy toe - I can’t believe that is the same dog~
sandy toe

Sue - Megan, are you absolutely SURE that the doggie salon didn’t make a mistake and return the wrong dog to you?! I hope you don’t mind that the picture of the big hairy Waffle is my computer screen’s background page. I crack up every time I look at that big silly dog with the eyeball glasses! And Mr.Sullivan just drools over his picture and keeps asking when we are going to get a dog…… Sue

MOMMYS GIRL - OMG HE LOOKS SO DIFFERENT HOW? IT’S A NOT SO NEW DOG

adrienneK - oh he is soooo cute!!! now i must post this quickly before my three year old sees his picture and begins to ask for a doggie πŸ˜‰

Elizabeth - wow, it doesn’t look like the same dog!

Jamie - Wow! That is one of the best before and afters I’ve seen in a while! It has been fun seeing Waffle grow up on your blog!

Jessica - what a cute doggie!! He looks so sweet!! What kind of dog is he?

Jess - SOOOOOOO stinkin’ CUUUUTE! He really looks like he is smiling!

Darby - Waffle, you are a big dork… but I could eat your face off! You are precious, precious, precious… and Meg, if you were the one with the clippers you did a great job! Hope y’all have a great weekend!!

purejoy - my favorite? the one with his tongue hanging over the side. i wonder if he is noticing a whole new world out there. . . you can see his eyes now. what does he see?

Kim - Um- I was like- oh they got a new dog! It’s like Extreme Makeover- Doggie Edition! What a cutie and you can so tell he is so proud of himself. Have a great weekend!

he’s a dork.

waffle is a big, goofy, trash eating, cat chasing, puff ball dorky dog.

IMG_6175
he is getting a haircut tonight…weather permitting.
i will miss that squiggle hair on top of his head.
but i will not miss the huge hair balls all over the house.

IMG_6103
he sits for treats really well.
and he shakes and sometimes he lays down.
on monday annie yelled "EWWWW…waffle just got dog lick on me!  YUCK."

IMG_6098
annie wrote on his head with markers.
she said "i was giving him tatoos!  he likes it!"
(he probably did actually…then he probably ate the marker when she was done)

IMG_6184  IMG_6177

IMG_6168

i love him very much.
except when i let him out on a rainy sunday morning in only my robe and slippers
and HE RAN AWAY.
it was a lovely site…chasing a dog while trying to hold my robe closed…
grabbing him by his tail…
then literally wrestling him to the ground and sitting on him to catch him…
dragging him inside by his collar in my slippers that were drenched from the rain.

yeah…didn't love him so much then.
but 99% of the time he is pretty great.

i can't wait to laugh at him when he gets his hair cut.

cheap kamagra - how do you get a black/grey value scale in tattoos?
is it mixing black and white or wut?

viagra cialis levitra - Hi. I have a heartshaped face, and today i’m getting my haircut. I was wondering if anyone could tell me some good ways to get it cut and give me some links of pictures. well please help! thanks in advance.

renee' - i love your dog, hes so cute, i had a dog like him years ago.

karem - BAHAHA!!! that was funny!!
Reminds me of my dog Wembley!!
thanks for the chuckle!

Jennifer P. - Loved reading till here. Waffle makes some great before and after pictures πŸ™‚

Kelly - very fun and I don’t even like dogs. πŸ™‚ Kelly

purejoy - okay, i started backwards. i saw the post waffle. and he is adorkable!!so i thought, wow that’s alot of fanfare for a dog groom! until i went back and saw the huge ball of fur waffle was!! i am (well, was) a huge fan of the little corkscrew thing going on on the top of his head, and i’m thinking a little crazy hair dye would have done him good!! i love annie. . . tattoos?? what a nut!

emily - i want to meet waffle. he seems like he has a good dog soul :] when he’s not running away in the middle of the rain.
& you have inspired me to get a goldendoodle. when i’m all grown up & everything :] great post.

Deputy's Wife - He is adorable! I can’t wait to see pictures of his new “do”!

Aubrey - Did you leave the squiggly hairs on top for a waffle-hawk?
I was lookng at your side link things and saw that pregnant lady who’s been taking pictures of her belly all along the way. Sheesh she looks good. Maybe I should do that–except I would frighten the heck out of cyber space with all my faded, saggy stretch marks from the first three babies. I s’pose I’ll refrain.

Sherri Rowalnd - Waffle is ADORABLE!
Unrelated question…..what color is the chocolate brown in your bedroom? I love it.

jamie - That was a truly Adorable Post. I laughed outloud! Thank you for sharing Waffle, he is so Sweet. Jamie

valerie @ Robots and Candy - Oh you gotta post pictures of the post haircut Waffle.
What a fabulous dog!

adrienne - Have you seen Marley and Me? Puppies are so naughty, but bring so much joy! He’s adorable.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - What a sweetie! I’m sure he will look like a completely different dog after his cut. Sometimes they even act different. Isn’t that funny!

Sarah - What a cutie! Is it really true that they don’t shed? That would be amazing since they have so much of that adorable fluffy fur!

sandy toe - He is very cute….sandy toe

Angie - Waffle! Waffle! Waffle! I heart that cute little doggie. Thanks for sharing some pictures with us!

Penny - I love Waffle! He is a perfect dog. We have two Golden Retrievers and our female Bailey is due for “little Waffles” at the end of May. We are so excited to have Goldendoodles. Please post a picture of Waffle after his haircut. handsome boy!

Anna - Your Annie is such a little ham. She cracks me up!
One just knows by looking at him that he is a big lanky, dorky dog…he just looks that way. Would have paid money to see you out chasing him in your robe…and in the rain. Bahahahahahahah…!
I was walking along our river walk (MO River) two days ago and a lady was walking her black labradoodle…he was cute but I still like Waffle’s color better.

Kat - Hahahaha! Great post. My daughter Lauren, who’s two, always wants to see a picture of “Waffle” whenever I sit at the computer. I first saw him on another blog a few months back, that’s how I found your blog, and I showed her the picture. She LOVES him too. What a sweet boy. Dogs are the best. Especially big, goofy, silly dogs!

Amanda - Waffle is absolutely adorable!! Looks like he’s a good cuddling dog!

Ruth - Hahaha! What a story. Naughty dog! But your photos of Waffle are always priceless… love that fuzzy fluff… good luck with the haircut!

Lanny Stanard - Oh i love that dog! he will look funny after his haircut, but make sure to tell him how great he look no matter what!
xOxO

gina - lol. which is why i don’t have a dog. chasing after 4 kids and a husband- even when it’s not raining and i’m fully dressed- is tough enough sometimes. πŸ˜‰

Kaitlyn - I love your dog. I’m still begging the husband for one just like Waffle! I doubt that will happen. I can’t wait to see his hair cut! Although I love his hair like that. So cute! ;o)

DeMo - He looks so adorable he almost looks fake, like the best stuffed dog you could have.

CJsmom - Let’s correct that last post. He’s so photogenic. Not to mention so lovable! Love your blog Meg!

CJsmom - I absolutely love this dog. He’s so photogenic. Not so much loveable. Can’t wait to see him with his new do.

Heather Anuta - I love these pictures! I once had to do the same thing- chasing down my dog. We has just moved to a new house. I was in sweats and no shoes and it was about 20 degrees and had just snowed outside. I guess he wanted to explore the new neighborhood. My sister finally caught him and it was luckily in my best friend’s yard. Had a hard time loving him that day.

Julia - That last picture is great. It looks like he’s thinking “it’s so exhausting being me”

Ivy Bettinger Smith - PLEASE take pictures of the new doggie-haircut! I think Waffle and my little Pumpkin would be good friends!

Jess - my kids want a dog like waffle…when..or…IF..we get another. he’s just so stinkin’ cute. i would love to see him next to our 4lb. teacup poodle!!! those would be some great shots! (they have similar coloring)

Mandi Morris - I love that dorky dog, and I can sympathize with the bath robe incident. Our lab has put me in some compromising situations too!

Amber - Ooooohhhh, I love Waffle πŸ™‚ I have a teeny 7 lb furry terrier I feel that same way about him and we always laugh at him when he gets a haircut…he’s going tomorrow πŸ™‚

Katie - don’t cut his hair he looks so cute!!!!!! I love your dog!!

Lee Ann - Oh! I want a “waffle” so bad! Yes, I know he would make me mad, but it might also provide entertainment for the neighbors around here as well. Fun picture of you out there!

emily

i scouted out some spots for emily's senior pictures but was feeling unsure.

i was so releived when she said "i just want it to be where i wouldn't normally wear my prom dress."
YAY….we were off to the abandoned CO-OP.

emily….you made my job so easy.
your smile is so genuine.
i love all of these
but this one is my favorite….

IMG_6000
IMG_5999_2IMG_6012

or these….

thanks emily.
my first senior pictures were a success!

(anyone know why pictures lose their color a bit when putting them on the blog?
these are so bright and vivid in iPhoto and then here they seem a bit washed out???
if you know….fill me in please.  :)

Carrie K - seriously stunning!!! the photos and the subject!! fun fun pictures…makes me want to be a senior again…haahaahaa

princesslasertron - what a gorgeous young lady!

Heather - Those are all fantastic, but the one of her in street clothes in the crook of the tree…sigh. She will cherish that one always.

Kelli - These pics are great! Very Down-to-Earth! I was wondering if you would be willing to take my son’s one year old pics and a few family shots? http://www.theschrags.blogspot.com

Clair (Emily's Dad) - Megan, these photos are absolutely wonderful. Not only is it impossible to select a favorite from what you’ve posted, I would imagine it will be all the more difficult when we see all you shot. Thank you for bringing such creativity to your session. And yes, the girl’s pretty cute, too. Thanks again for providing Emily with such a wonderful experience.

Jennifer - A++++++++wesome! Love them!
Smiles,
Jen

Lisa - WHAT A LOVELY GIRL. ACTUALLY, YOUNG WOMAN. GREAT PICTURES
HUGS FROM FLORIDA

gina - Gorgeous. those prom dress/urban shots look like a fashion editorial. What fun senior pictures!

Sophie - Wonderful job, Meg!
Beautiful shots of a beautiful girl (:

kate - are you a professional photographer, Meg? If not, you should! You are such an incredible genius! I love, love, love your photos! You made your subject so very beautiful! πŸ™‚
Cheers,
Kate
http://www.toyourstruly.com

Sarah L - Amazing, I have the same prob ,dying to get my hands on photoshop and a decent camera! Love love love these!!i

Courtney - Yeah, to get consistent color, you need to calibrate. And not use iPhoto πŸ™‚ Have you gone to manual on your camera yet? That’ll help too. And have you ever been over to ilp? The best thing ever, I promise! So many helpful people!
http://www.ilovephotography.com
Good start!

silverdaisy - Okay… love the one where she is hugging her knees (B+W) and her toes are sticking out, great photo! also the one in the red doorway with the interesting light play.

Sandy - Those are great Meg! My favorites are with the pink background and the one in the tree (that’s my ultimate favorite). What a great idea to have her pictures done in her prom dress. Does everyone in that area do that? They don’t do it here, but I love the idea (too bad my daughter graduated last year!).

kitchendoor - Meg, those are gorgeous. Really. I wish my senior pictures had been one iota as cool. Instead I look like I am about to commit mass murder on my way to Tony and Tina’s Wedding. Thanks for sharing these!

Sandy Coppertone - Great job. I like the barefeet with the dress better than the flipflops.
I have two suggestions. Check your white balance and try a polarized filter for outdoor shots. In the photo by the water and tree, a polarized filter would have done wonders for the sky in the background. Google images for “polarized filter” and see some examples. In some of the shots her skin has a green tint others a blue tint. Adjusting the white balance will solve this. (I apologize if this was intentional)
If you save your picture in GIF rather than JPG format it will be more consistant on the web. (but then you open a whole other can of worms when your ready to print…)
There is a ton of info for self-educated photographers out there. Take advantage and beware of the sales pitch!

Staci - So SO beautiful…the pictures and Emily πŸ™‚

Jamie Sampson - gorgeous! you totally rocked it. Go Meg! Go Meg! Go Meg! and the chants go on and on πŸ™‚

Kate - Wow! Beautiful! Great Pics!

sandy toe - Very pretty..I love her sitting on the tree looking out..lovely.
sandy toe

emily :] - MEGAN! OH MY GOSH I LOVEEEE THEM!
thank you sooo much. i had a BLAST.
can’t wait to see the rest :]

kasey - beautiful girl.
xo

Laura - I am off to find my prom dress and a stinky alley! Meet me there!
FANTASTIC!

katherine - beautiful girl, beautiful photography!

Rachel - Fabulous shots!

Keri R. - These pictures look great! I want to take some like this in my wedding dress… I just have to have this baby first. πŸ™‚ But my hubs is getting deployed 2 months after the baby is born so I figure if I can lose the weight in time, pictures like that would be cool to send to him in Iraq. I also love the new blog header!!!

cori - cute girl…great photos!
I am pretty sure Karen Russell did a whole post about this once. Maybe look through her archives and see if it helps.

robyn Beckley Vining - it happens to me, too. i was using a blogger for my photog blog and bagged it and am building a site for my business that will include a blog function. it seems it is when a photo has been *edited* for color- anytime i do that they get washed out. blogger does a terrible job interpreting color. i don’t know about typepad.
i have an lcd screen and it doesn’t matter. the sad thing is that i know they look best on my screen, and worse everywhere else. so that’s a bummer.
nice job.
fun, right?!

chas at the wild raspberry - love the combination of fancy and earthy…really nice.
and the setting in the trees by the pond is breathtaking.
what a great photo session.

Kim - These are amazing. I just love the one of her leaning up against the building. She is beautiful.

Marie - Awesome job…you’ve become quite the photographer, I just got a decent camera 4 months ago and my friend has already asked me to take her daughter’s senior pics…we’ll see how it turns out!
I just tried uploading to flickr instead of directly from my I Photo and then taking the url from flickr and posting it that way and it seems to maintain color that way for me better on my blog.

Jess - Awesome pictures! As always. I love the one in front of the red door.(with the sunlight) If you ever find yourself in South Carolina, you MUST let me know.

Cheryl - Great photos and she looks absolutely divine!!

traci - I love the one in the tree and the ones with the window by her!!!!! Awesome job meg.

valerie @ Robots and Candy - Those are great!
She’s a champ for looking fabulous in a place that smells like manure. I would have looked like I smelled something in every single picture. I’m not good with bad smells….

Julia - fabuloso job! My favorite is the one against the red door. I love it when someone is really into messing around (as she seems to be!) – it’s so much easier than when they’re barely tolerating having their picture taken.
oh, also love the pic under “Johnny’s” so much fun!!!

Rebecca - Moniter calibration; iPhoto has default settings that may not transfer over to those on typepad.com.
Try editing the pics in Photoshop for the web, that may help maintain consistency.
And good work–she looks lovely!

Starnes Fam - What an infectious smile. She’s absolutely darling. And, your photography is fantastic!

danyele - i have the same prob…i think it’s just the way the monitor displays them.
anyway, i love the shots…that johnny’s sign is great! and she is beautiful!!!

AnNicole@OurSuburbanCottage - What a beauty, and I love the photos!

sarah - She’s beautiful and what a great dress..and especially love the flipflops with the dress πŸ™‚
