cleaning

we have to clean this morning.
like all those clothes that annie pulled out over a week ago are still there. i have 2 weeks of things piled up in my room. i have many loads of laundry to fold and no baskets because they are full of folded laundry that has been upstairs for a week not put away.
it’s just so much more fun to scrapbook or pull weeds.
but today i have to get it going.

so i will put a picture of me doing the opposite . . . laughing and relaxing.
so happy i don’t even care about the double chin! 🙂
craig was the one making me laugh . . . like always.

sunlight

our bird sunlight got out this morning. he was flying all around the kitchen.
i just left him. . . all day.
i figured he needed some air time anyway. two years locked in that cage.
once he figured out how to not bonk in to the windows it was fine.
that’s a banana next to him that annie thought he’d want to eat.
one second after i took this shot he flew off right at me! and we all screamed . . . like he’s such scary bird.

this is what happens at 6:00 when annie get s no nap.
but if she does have a nap she is up until 10:00 driving talby nuts!
can’t win. pay now or pay later.

weeds

i spent all day today pulling weeds in the flower beds.
(between making meals, fixing snacks, filling sippy cups, running carpool and going to soccer)
it was sunny and 70’s so i was very happy to be doing it.
lots of worms and rolly-pollies for the girls to play with. . . love to see that. talby actually pulled weeds herself for awhile too. when she’d get the whole thing she was so excited. “i got the ROOT!” holding up her prized weed.
actual words that came out of my mouth today: “boys!! get out of those wheelbarrows! they are not for people!” and also “you can’t swing a shovel around! if you hit someone with a shovel you may kill them!”
this is a crazy house.

the pink flowery stuff is from the daddy/daughter banquet i got to help decorate for on sunday. craig & lauren said it was a really nice night. (ahhh . . . so cute)
i got to pick up the 3 dozen balloons on one of the windiest days in kansas! watching me get those in the truck could have been on funniest home videos i am sure. add in a 12 year old girl who wanted to play that she was floating away . . . it was a scene.

**trying a little different technique this post so who knows how it will work after i push save.

kristin - seeing talby during clean up time at preschool, i am not at all surprised at her participation!!! : )

birthday boy

Other than scott’s temper tantrum at the end . . . we had a nice birthday for craig.

his mom brought us dinner. we ate his pirate cake . . . arrrrrrrgggggg! he liked talby’s choice of pirate decorations. Sean got out his own pirate costume to set the tone a few hours even before the “party” started.

then craig’s mom graciously stayed with the kids and we went out. we didn’t even know where we were going – anywhere just OUT! we sat and had a drink and people watched – it was plenty of entertainment for us.

happy birthday mr. duerksen

show and tell on friday for sean. we brought the bunny for him. the class loved it. Sean was beaming!

a dump truck delivered our woodchips yesterday. it’s always fun t get new stuff even if it’s mulch. i think it has finally gotten me excited about getting out in the yard. . . . not that i have yet.

and look at what this naughty baby did now! she is a walking disaster. this was what i came in to find after she had her nap. naughty.

today is craig’s birthday so i have to get to walmart for frosting supplies. i will definitely post pictures of the birthday! talby got to pick the decorations.

boo hoo

My phone was stolen.

craig played the part of Magnum P.I. last night and figured out that my phone had been used yesterday afternoon and then called all the numbers that the “thief” called.

no one claimed to know who had called them.

so many lies.

that person had the choice – right or wrong – turn it in or put it in their pocket. it is just sad.

so at least i don’t need to blame annie (not that i was) i know exactly where it should have been. she was walking by the mirrors in hobby lobby and seeing herself “talking” on the phone and then a minute later she was looking at a book. she threw a fit right after that and when she threw that fit she had no phone. so it should have been there by the book but there was a five minute gap from the fit and from when i realized we didn’t have the phone. bummer. so by the time we were calling it it had already been stolen. that quickly. you don’t expect that from the hobby lobby crowd.

AND if you don’t know . . . Holderman is kind of like the Amish . . . they wear bonnets and keep things very plain and simple but they drive cars and work and talk on cell phones. sadly though that’s about all i know their life style.

annie’s expression says it all.

the unexpected

not the day i was planning on.

breakfast with the family and peter – chaotic but good.

decided to take the girls to the zoo.
got there around noon. just wanted a nice day in the sun . . . it was gorgeous out today!
we pulled into the parking lot and every spot was full. and 20 school buses. no joke.
i felt my anxiety level rising.
for some reason i decided to stay???
we got the gate and were told “it’s free! it’s Earth Day!” normally i love something free.
we went in and it was just thousands of people! normally at the wichita zoo you see A FEW other families when you go on a school day.
annie wanted to see the elephants so we went straight there
after about 4 minutes i said “Mommy hates this. talby pick anywhere you want to go but let’s just get out of here.”
“ICE CREAM!!”
and that was that. we left the zoo after a 10 minute stay.

then we ate yummy ice cream at cold stone creamery. . . for lunch.

then annie lost my cell phone at hobby lobby.
why did i let her hold it? why? it was a bad decision on my part. i so hope they find it. as i was searching for it an older Holderman woman said “do you want me to call it for it you?” of course i said yes but it didn’t help. it went to voice mail right away. i was dying laughing on the inside.
i have thought it so amusing since we have moved back to kansas to see so many holderman women . . . in walmart and then almost every time they are talking on cell phones. it’s just funny.
and now here she was to help me. sweet. she kept calling it over and over.

and annie keeps saying “mommy you mad?”
i answer “i was mad . . . now i am sad . . i miss my phone”
