flea market style

have you missed your favorite magazines since they practically ALL went out of business?

i HAVE.
i miss Cottage Living, Country Home and Home Companion…to name a few.
my mail box is a sad place these days. (except when chargers arrive…and surprise necklaces!!)

well i am happy happy happy to see people trying it again.
even happier when i "know" the people running it! (in blogland and through emails)

i am all about flea market style.
i can't wait to see what they come up with.
linda….matthewheatherki…IT IS GOING TO ROCK!

Mock_thumb[15]

you can read their blog for now until print day.

i hope someday they will call me and say "meg…can you take us on a junking trip through kansas?"
to which i will answer "ummmmm…..YES!!!"
then they will say "can we stay at your house? could you make us baked french toast?"
again…."YES!!!"

i would be all. over. that.
do you hear me linda and heather?  let's do it!
bring Ki and Matthew with you too.
i promise i will change out of my pajamas even…and give waffle a bath before you come.

the first magazine hasn't come out quite yet…but soon.
and i will be getting it THAT DAY!
it's fun supporting my "friends".

go leave them a comment today ok?

Heather Richter - Can you do the shopping trip before I move out of Kansas this summer? (military spouse). Just sayin’ I’d love to know the places to go! You’d rock the magazine world, too. Take care, Heather R.

Heather Bullard - Well, I think I will just have to take you up on your offer. Packing my bags and heading to Kansas! Thanks so much for the open invitation and the shout out for our magazine! Smiles, H

Laura Phelps - I flippin’ love LInda, and I am excited too!!!!!!!!!!!
And just so ya know…I would love to have french toast in your home and go flea marketing in Kansas…ya know…should ya ever ask me to..I would so totally say yes…and I dont have a magazine to publish you in or anything…but I can bring you cake…
think about it…
I know, I know…hard to say no, right?

matthew mead - This is Matthew Mead… we will be fighting over who goes to Kansas to see you and go junking… I’ll cut the straws myself before we draw. Thanks for the mention. Matthew

Carisa - You can be sure if Ki is in your house, I will just “happen” to be in the neighborhood as well.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I miss my magazines too. How dare they just leave us high and dry??

Grace Matthews - This is my kind of magazine…even the poor need to decorate 🙂

Chiot's Run - My mailbox has been a sad place as well, and NO I don’t want MORE magazine to replace Country Home, they’re nothing alike!!!!
Thanks for the recomendation!

mom - You can bring them all to Lawrence and I’ll feed them too! Then we’ll go to all the fun places here! Would love that.

Cate O'Malley - I’m very sad about some of my favorite magazines folding too, particularly Cottage Living and Domino. And this week, Cookie and Gourmet. Love them all!

Kathy - Looks like a great blog….I miss magazines!

Heather - I love magazines, probably a little too much. So, I can’t wait for their blog to be in print. I’m going to read it while relaxing in bed, just like the good ol’ days. I miss you Cottage Living!
I guess I could try reading my favorite mags online while relaxing in bed with my computer, but I’m pretty sure it just wouldn’t be the same.

susie whyte - i loved country home!! i will miss their Christmas edition this year. Can’t wait for this mag…LOVE Ki!!!

jody - will do!
thanks, meg.
jody

Miranda - GASP! Thank you for sharing! Am subscribing right. now.

Thanks for letting us know.

mary - thanks for the heads up meg!

kristi rediske - I do miss all those magazines-I wish they would come back. I will check out the new magazine-i love flea markets and junking too.

chris - Ok first you then me next , don’t they want to come to Canada’s oldest outdoor market , they can stay with me , they should make their rounds right !
Chris

your cool friend Cheryl - I’m still mourning the loss of Country Home. Their replacement of BH&G is just not the same…

Ashley Ann - Can I pretend to be publishing a magazine and be hooked up with a junk trip through Kansas with you…and that french toast? I’ll even wash Waffle. You don’t even have to change out of pjs – I’ll wear mine too!

Melanie - Very pretty pictures. I can’t wait to look at it. I love me some magazines. I subscribe to a lot. I would be ashamed to tell you how many. I just made the baked french toast and it was wonderful. I will check out their blog.

jennifer - So exciting! Can’t wait to see it!

Linda@ Restyled Home - Meg!! Thank you so much for helping spread the word about the magazine! I would love to hang out with you for a weekend. I bet we could fill a magazine with all the inspiration found within your home and family life!
Not long now till it hits the stands…maybe early February?!

Flower Patch Farmgirl - It’s pretty sad when the best thing that arrives is the PB catalog and National Geographic for Kids. Decorating blogs are great, but I really miss actual pages.
ps- They will totally take you up on that offer, right? How could they not??

Lora - We are SO having baked french toast this weekend. And, yes, I miss Home Companion…..I just thought they stopped getting it in my little Northern Canadian town. 🙂 I’ll be checking out Flea Market Style!

DreamGirlLisa - I miss those mags too, especially Country Home and ME. Looking forward to the new magazine though. Thanks for your blog, nice to visit a “comfy place”.

Kristin - Those are the exact 3 that I miss a ton to! I will have to check out this new one. Thanks.

Katie - Speaking of baked french toast, Meg, I’m making it for the first time this weekend. It sounds so good — I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for always making your blog so fun and so very happy — your kids are beautiful and Annie makes my day. Happy almost weekend!

amy d - when is it coming back? and if you get to junk through kansas, you better take me with you! 🙂 …and i really miss my country home mag!

waffle the wonder dog

he is such a funny dog.
he is a goldendoodle….i know someone is going to ask so i am telling you now.
he is so sweet and goofy and dorky.
elisalou sent him a snazzy new collar and i LOVE it.

could he BE any cuter?

IMG_3696

IMG_3703

IMG_3706
as always with elisalou you get to choose your own fabric to make it just right for YOUR dog.
i chose the red and white polka dots…it was a no brainer.
i put it on him and thought he was adorable.
craig and lauren both said seperately "why did you get him a girl collar?"
huh?
i do not agree.
it's a boy collar.
yes…it IS.

IMG_3709

IMG_3722

which one will you pick?

AND she is running a PROMO as well…if you order a dog collar between now and Oct. 31
you get a Halloween collar FREE.
waffle looks stunning in his also.

3940261557_5bdc425dbd

go pick out the one that will make your dog look as cute as mr. waffle.

talby drew this on the kitchen chalkboard yesterday….

order viagra - Girly girl, alternatively spelled girlie girl, is a slang term for a girl or woman who chooses to dress and behave in a traditionally feminine style, such as wearing floral dresses, blouses and skirts, and talking about relationships and other activities which are associated with the traditional gender role of a girl.

Kimberlie Rose - Thanks Megan! I just ordered one of these for my Cooper and can’t wait to see it on him. Love your blog by the way.

Kat - Waffle’s new collar rocks! He is secure enough that he could wear any color collar and still rock it! Too cute. Love fabric collars on dogs, my Boxer, Fergus, wears an Amy Butler Lotus collar.

julie - at first I was agreeing… it is a bit girly. my black dog has a manly solid black collar. but then I realized. waffle is super trendy and metrosexual. rocking it. l.a. style. makes my dog look all funeral-y.

Mrs. - Looks like Talby’s Waffle needs some dinner! He is incredibly thin!

Amy - I enjoy looking at your pics of Waffle, because he is almost identical to our doodle, Max. I loved your recent post about how your cat hates the dog. We adopted Max 8 months ago on his first birthday. The cat has hated him since day one, and I’m certain she curses us daily for bringing this beast into our home. 🙂 Meanwhile, Max thinks she’s the cat’s meow (bad, bad humor) and wants to play with her every chance he gets. Quite frankly, I think she would be bored to tears without him to antagonize. Doodles are fabulous dogs!

Kirsten Tangeros - Thanks for the tip. I plan on ordering 2 for my dogs…. I think Waffle looks very dapper in his collar. He kindof reminds me of Harpo at “Antique and Resale” on Harlem Ave. in Chicago. Ever been there? Giant white poodle prowls the store, wearing vintage ties….. Waffle has the same vibe.

Kwana - What a sweetie in such a cute collar. Love the pics!

Penny - Waffle, Waffle, Waffle. I just love Waffle.Yes, he should write a book. You could do a children’s book and I am sure it would sell big! Our Sophie, also a Goldendoodle, is beginnig to look like Waffle in the face and I am so happy. She is a scruffy cinnamon bunch of love. Gotta love those doodles!!

Meredith - I’ve been hankering for an elisa lou tote bag for ages (big hints to the hubby have so far gone unanswered) so I’m a wee bit perturbed that your dog is more stylish than me. But truly, who could begrudge Waffle the wonderdog anything! The red polka-dot collar is definitely boy – groovy, retro boy – but boy nonetheless. Meredith xo.

Diana - Huh? Where did they get the *girl* idea in that? Hmmm. Red is such a snazzy color. And polka dots… well, they just make the red that much more cool! You go, Waffle! *woof*
Great likeness of Waffle, Talby! You captured his cuteness and personality perfectly!

Jerri - I have said it before I just love Waffle…he is too cute!!! I think he knows it too! 🙂
Cute collars!

HomageBlog - Boys can TOTALLY wear polka dots! He rocks it 🙂 ~K

Christy - Love it! One of my boy dogs (have 2 yellow labs) is wearing a zebra print collar which also might be a little feminie, but he looks so cute!
I like the polka dor collar & the Halloween one is too cute! Off to check out the shop. 🙂

Sue K. - waffle is soo cute! he looks just like koda did. i miss koda…love the collar and maybe talby thinks you should feed waffle more! 🙂

Tanya - Sooooo cute. I had a scruffy little visitor at the pool today. He was about half the size of waffle.

CherryTreeLane - I want to hug him and just run around in my backyard playing fetch with this cutie! So sweet!

Betsy - Super cute! I’m amazed at how much my schnoodle (poodle/schnauzer), Minnie, looks like Waffle in the face. Don’t feel bad about picking the red, which I think is totally a boy collar. I have a pink collar, pink leash, pink tags and pretty much all pink things for Minnie and people still ask what HIS name is! Arg!

purejoy - thanks for the tip on the collars. i have three mini-dachshunds that all need a bit of snazzzz and so we can tell them apart!! haha.
waffle is adorableness on steroids. that dog is photo-personality!!! love him!! (and his fly collar)

Nancy-The Goat and The Kid - Red and white polka dots are not girly. I would put Rex and Charlie (our wonder dogs) in one for sure. You have to have dogs with sass, right? Everything can make a statement, even a dog collar. Way to go!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I’m off to check her out. Waffle is super adorable and I love his polka dots:)

Ashley - I love it! Waffle is such a photogenic dog 🙂
I went to elisalou’s site to order one for my dog, but I’ve made it all the way to the Payment Info., and it hasn’t said anything about the free Halloween collar. Is there a special promo code for that?

Elisa - I personally think he looks very handsome in his polka-dot collar!
Love him!

Kacey - Love the collar! Now I’m wondering if my dog needs one… 🙂

amy d - talby’s picture is cracking me up. i didn’t know (elisa lou) did collars…i must now get one for miss miley. and miley wants to know when waffle is coming over to play.
maybe this weekend?

Ruth - too cute – he always looks like such a smooth mover with the short hair! super fly, and he knows it.

Angie - WAFFLE!! I love posts that feature Waffle! Man, I heart that dog.

Rachel / cREaTe - he really truly is the cutest, most scruffalicious dog. and just the name. i wish he’d write a book – i’m sure he is full of stories. 🙂 LOVE his new collar. since when was red white & blue GIRLY? he’s just patriotic.

Pineapple Princess - So SUPER DUPER cute!!

Shar - NO, he could not be any cuter. I have a brown standard poodle and also a blond standard (rescued after hurrican Ike). But, I am loving the Goldendoodle. I just love it when Waffle gets a mention in the blogs. Will check out the collars.

missye - He is adorable! And I don’t think the collar is girly. Very non-gender specific. LOL!!!
We have a 5 month old brown Standard Poodle who is a mess but such a love. I just love your Waffle stories because I can sooo relate.

Georgia - LOL love the picture !! Talby has made him so skinny! 🙂
Love the Collar, im going to check the collars out as my 2 dogs need new ones which are a bit Snazzy! Loving the pictures as normal your fAB! 🙂

Sarah - Too cute!! I would say that the collar is gender neutral, so I’m kind of on your side, but can see what they are saying about a hint of feminine in the collar. I personally love Waffle with his super fluffy long hair, but totally understand why you would want to keep it shorter. Do you let it grow out between cuts or do you have a length you won’t let it grow past?

Thanks *duchess*

Renee - I’m so jealous! A clean house and girlfriend time? Sounds like heaven. xoxo

Mandi - I ran across this recipe today for quesadillas and thought of you…I haven’t cooked it yet, but it sounds delicious and EASY!
Here is it:
Slowcooker Quesadillas
-Throw chicken breasts (can be frozen), can of black beans, can of corn, can of diced tomatoes, lots of cumin, and salsa seasoning (if you have it) or a splash of salsa in slowcooker in the morning. At dinner time, scoop onto tortillas, top with cheese, and put under the broiler.
I’m cooking it tomorrow…I’ll let you know how it goes!

kasey - what a special time!
xo

Jaimie - Sounds fun! A clean house always feel better too.

happy mail (part 2)

IMG_1948

i had a very kind email from stephanie last week.

she was sweet and full of compliments.  i clicked over to her link and saw her making salsa.

YUMMY.

i told her to send me some….and she did!

i was kidding.

but she did it anyway and it was such a treat for us.

we don't make our own salsa here so when we get the good stuff we are so happy.

THANK YOU stephanie.

it was so much fun to get salsa in the mail!

IMG_1941

then my order from uberstitch arrived.

i am LOVING the name UBERSTITCH.  you must say it with a swedish accent…like farfegnugen.

look at her packaging?!  the fabric is folded up so nicely and wrapped in a pattern.

with a map tag.

love. love. love it.

she had the fabric i have been searching for everywhere.

IMG_1944

school days handwriting.

it brings me pure joy.

it could be the best fabric EVER.

and the zebra fabric?  it's made by sis boom….another awesome site.

that jennifer paganelli is so talented.

with this fabric i am making pillows for the kitchen sitting area with blacks and whites.

the zebra print is going to recover a chair seat.

and more fabric came but this was from anna maria horner.

i just got the scraps.

that girl has some SUPER fabulous fabrics.

i would like to just sit in her studio and stare at it…for days.

IMG_1196

her branding is gorgeous.

polka dots on floral on another floral and swirly writing…be still my heart.

and this package came from patricia (an artist) from pve design.

IMG_0498

it was a care package from one mom to another.

she sent 3 pretty dresses to my girls that her daughter had outgrown and a stack of magazine articles

on party themes to craft ideas to advice on parenting.

i felt like a very blessed woman.

you blog readers are so kind to me.

i love every comment you leave.

i appreciate every thoughtful word you say.

i smile every time you say i made your day.

thank you for letting me share my love of color here everyday…it's like free therapy!!

Chanel Handbags - IT IS hard to look at the Capitol in Washington, DC, without a frisson of excitement

megan duerksen - oh…sorry. 🙂

Alv - I think the accent you’re after is german, we swedes has nothing to do with über. 😉

Pineapple Princess - Whoa! Those look GOOD!
I think you’re a great mom.

Abby - That salsa looks so yummy!!
Believe it or not but I bought some Sis Boom fabric at Alco while I was back in KS, I love how they have some quilt store quality fabric at great prices.
I would love to have PVE do a painting of my parents home, might have to do that for their 35th anniv. next year.

Kristine Robb - mmmm i am totally jealous of your mail!
i am considering your colorful blog my “mail box” and just filling up on the free JOY!

Heidi Jo the Artist - Oh this salsa looks soooo yummy! I eat salsa almost every single day, yup that is how much I love salsa. 😉 I wanted to thank you so much for your happy things links besides your awesome blog of course. You always find the best links. My favorite of late is the miniature houses by Ana Serano and the small magazine. I am currently working on a project that has made me fall in love with miniatures! I have a feeling this small magazine might help me out a bit. If I get the project finished (hopefully soon!) then I will dust off the cobwebs and blog about it. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sarah L - I adore that school hand writing fabric – its too die for

Kat - you are so awesome, I love reading your blog. Thank you for sharing your love of color!

JerriR - Could write a lot but will simply say I love to read your blog daily!!!!!

Starnes Fam - Isn’t this a fun blogging world we live in? I love it. Not sure what I would do without it.
PS – love the salsa friend’s ode to Seinfeld in her blog post title.

Rach - I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… YOU GET THE BEST FABRIC EVER!!!

Angela - Awesome!!! Speaking of mail, did you get my email where I shared a link where another blogger made your rainbow cake for her son’s 2nd birthday? I got so hungry!! 🙂

Amy at The Red Chair Blog - What a visually appealing post! Pretty, pretty! Two things to share: #1. I was just–not 2 seconds ago–on the Anna Maria Horner site looking at those scrap bags before I clicked over here(insert Twilight Zone music here). #2. I love the IDEA of that school handwriting fabric, but seeing it instantly took me back to 2nd grade and my mean old teacher who constantly criticized my handwriting. Hmm.

Sarah - We must have the same “thing” about handwriting/lined paper, because that is to DIE for!!! I’ll have to get myself some.

Julia - Wow – you had a great mail day!

jennifer - There’s those polka dots I caught a glimpse of yesterday. Yeah! I love it!
And such fun packages. Loving all your color, as usual.

Ashley - Meg,
Thank YOU for sharing!

Sara Cameli - Hi Cutie, love your enthusiasm about packaging. I hear ya. Whenever I see awesome packaging it makes me soooo happy too! I am at school late for parents night, happy to have something fun to check on before the mayhem begins…

Tammy - Hooray that I don’t have to GOOGLE for great sites, I just check your site and *poof* I instantly have several others to add to my favourites and browse through over tea. Meg, hon, LOVE your posts. You rock my blogging world. 😉

Penny - Thank you Meg. You give so much joy from your blog. I just love when I see there is a new post!! Your photography is amazing! I am glad you have had a great mail week.

Kacey - Oh, your blog is like happy therapy for ME! I love to look at your beautiful pictures – and the bursts of color everywhere. Love it all! (I’m guilty of being a very occasional commenter – so sorry!)

elizabeth - Thank YOU for bringing color and happiness into each of my days!

adrienneK - oh such a happy post!!! that handwriting fabric is the cutest !!!!

Magchunk - Wow those are some great mail days! I recently hosted a craft supply swap on my blog, so I’m really looking forward to finding some fun packages on my doorstep soon! One of my fave blogs, Sweetie Pie Pumpkin Noodle, organized a penpal swap, so I love getting letters from my new penpal too!
Love all that fabric. I went a little nuts in the fat-quarter section of Artco the other day and I can’t even get my (mom’s) machine threaded!

Dana D @BoysMyJoys - I love all the fabrics!
We just made patchwork aprons this weekend. It made me think of some of your pillows while we were working on them!Your scraps would make a beautiful one!
It’s here: http://boysmyjoys.blogspot.com/2009/09/patchwork-apron-girls-weekend.html
Can’t wait to see the finished kitchen area 🙂

Joni - You sure did have some fun packages! I hope you all have a lovely weekend….to say farewell to summer!
XOXO
Joni

Staci - Man!! You win!! You DID have a great mail week!!!! Guess I’ll be checking all these lovely ladies out!!!! Thanks Meg! You bring UBER JOY to BlogLand =)

Summer - Love fun mail! Thanks for the inspiration!
Summer

purejoy - love getting mail. it’s like a party in my mailbox.
comments pretty much rock the house, too!
and color?? i love your color. i want to be adopted by you.
seriously.

pallie - Getting goodies in the mail ALWAYS makes my day/week/month…depending on what it is!
By the way, this is my first comment on here but I have been keeping up with your blog for a long time now. After all this time reading your posts, admiring your handiwork, ogling your photos and stealing your ideas, I wanted to let you know that I want to be like you. Seriously.

Heather - What awesome happy mail! And thank you for the beautiful pictures you post. They are a happy spot in my day!
Heather

Sarah - Awww! I love how kind people can be (even people you only know online). This world really is a beautiful place if you take the time to notice it. I’m loving the fabrics and the dresses! Too cute! I can just imagine Talby and Annie in them. The hot sauce looks great too! Everyone’s been blogging about salsa and other tomato-related things lately.

Aljolynn - Colors are the fruits of my life! So THANK YOU for bringing such color into mine. Totally envious of your packages!
I really need to learn how to sew.

donna - you need to stop posting the cute things you get…because I am one of those people who hear about something and buy it….so far I bought that cute purse that you blogged about a few months ago….and today i ordered a necklace from vintage pearl……..thank goodness i don’t sew.

Stephanie Carroll - You’re so welcome 🙂
I hope it was good!!

Kathy - Love Happy mail! I rarely get any mail here, it’s so expensive to mail even a card so other than bills I get zip! Love pve blog she is so talented. Can’t wait to see what you do with your new fabrics. Happy Thursday!

happy mail (part 1)

don't you love a good week of happy mail?

i love just one day of happy mail but a week's worth…that rocks.

first thing that made me happy….

jewelry from the vintage pearl.

oh my goodness -i am loving it!

IMG_0435

i have never had any jewelry with names on it…erin hooked me up!

i now own a necklace that says meg & craig.

because that is just so very ME.

IMG_0443

i love it.

it feels so high school musical.

or ELF…"i'm in love! i'm in love and i don't care who knows it!"  (click here if you want to see that clip)

with my necklace it's like i am announcing it to the world.

don't worry…i love my kids too.

IMG_0448

my kids like this bracelet even more than i do.

it is so special to them.

they touch it and ask to see their names…feel their name.

and that makes my heart just swell up….aaaahhhhhh.

IMG_0451

and erin just knows me. (even though she doesn't in real life)

she must know that my most favorite font in the entire world is this one.

especially when it's not in a perfectly straight line.

OR…maybe it's her favorite too so that is why she uses it.

yes that's probably it.

but she has other fonts too…if you like that.

and i saw one more necklace on her website that i had to have.

IMG_0457

a sewing machine charm?

serious cuteness.

this one makes me so happy….i know you love as much as i do…how could you not?

her website is easy to use.

it's beautiful to look through and very hard to choose a favorite.

some of my other favorites…

Vp

i first found the vintage pearl on today's creative blog.

she's on the featured list.

she is a photographer too.

she has a great since of color.

i think if you go on over to erin's site…you'll be there for awhile.

read about her.

buy some jewelry from her.

leave her a comment to make her smile today.

🙂

more happy mail to come….stay tuned.

I have had one of those charm name necklaces planned out forever – I’m waiting for this baby to be born so I’ll have all of my kids’ names for the charms (and I want the tiny pearls for the babies we never got to meet)… I can’t wait, it’ll be my mother’s day present to myself next year 🙂

Melanie - By the way…where’d you get all those beaded bracelets you are wearing in the bracelet picture? Those are gorgeous, too!

by the way, totally random:
i had a dream last night that lauren and i ended up visiting in her room for HOURS. she was mature, logical, level headed, funny, kind, considerate. it was such a realistic dream, other than i don’t think she has 2 bathrooms in her bedroom.

Sarah - I’m thinking Erin might be really busy for awhile…she deserves to be that’s for sure. Can’t resist that necklace with the cute little hearts…do you think 5 hearts would weigh my neck down too much? I think neck muscles might be just what I need.

kat - I love her shop. I have been contemplating several pieces for a few months now. It’s just so beautiful. I love your choices. That necklace is too cute and your bracelet is precious.

shelly - Cotton headed ninny muggins! I want one too!!! Love the other jewerly too…where did you get that?

http://loridanelle.blogspot.com

Amber - cute cute cute. loving your new blog header too!

Elma Riedstra - Oh I love your new necklace:) I would love one with all eight of my kids name but i’m sure that would cost a ton. Can’t wait to see more treasures:) Have a great day.

Christy - I lover her stuff! I am trying to decide what I want to order!

purejoy - i ohhhhed and ahhhhhhhed over your bracelet too. i’m sure it has nothing to do with the photography!! (you are amazing, really)
i just want to be adopted by you. i’ll shorten my name so it fits on the bracelet. you can call me k.
whatever works.
btw, like the new header. makes me super happy!

mclare1982@aol.com - I second Jen’s comment, your other kids have “classic” names, but I’ve never heard of Talby…is there a story?

Anna Marie - I just posted the video to my facebook. One of my favorite parts of that movie…ha! “Are you feelin’ strong my friend?”
I just found her today through another blog…she has bracelets for little ones too…so sweet!!! I love that Craig and Meg necklace!

i am a celebrity.

or at least that is what sarah called me.

IMG_1924
sarah at clover lane interviewed ME!
it was fun.
she has a great blog…you will love it.
she has five kids and a dog too.
(what kind of crazy person does that?)

p.s. i don't ever EVER want to be a celebrity.
after my dvr show the other night (at 1 AM) the show ET came on.
oh puke.
they honestly said…"did Kate Gosselin get implants?!"
then they zoomed in the photo of her to full screen on her bikini clad chest?!
i said "who cares!"
and switched it off.
if that is what being a celebrity means……i never want it.

not that anyone was seriously suggesting that i was.  :)
or would be.
it was just going through my mind.

Elisa - crap I always call you Meg!!

Shannan - I really liked the interview. Such a pleasant surprise! And I could not agree more with your comment on focusing on the positive on your blog. It’s fine now and then – but I’m no sucker for a “heavy” blog. Let’s have light! And fun! And pretty! And funny! We could all use a little more of those.

Starnes Fam - Her blog is fabulous. Totally agree!

jenn - Hey…just read your interview and got a little choked up when you openly shared about getting pregnant at 18 and making it. I don’t want to share a bunch via the comments section, so, suffice it to say, I have a very close and precious family member who is in that same situation…and is fighting hard to make it work, to defy the odds. I know she and her husband will be super encouraged by your lives. I’m sending her a link to your blog. Thanks!

Mrs. Dunbar - I read the interview yesterday. Loved it. I am so glad you referenced Phillipians and that your marriage has survived 5 kids! You are a wonderful inspiration.
PS When are you going to put some more wonderful things on Etsy?

juliann - Great job Megan! I am proud of you for being honest about your life, and for sharing your faith. I am sure that is part of what draws so many to you! May God bless you and your family and grow you all closer to him.
Love, Juliann

Kathleen - You are so real and so inspriring. I know you don’t realize this-even though you are a celebrity!
Congrats on your interveiw and the magazine spot!
Even my kids love seeing what you’ve written if they are walking by. Snails and Waffle are the faves!

sara - i really enjoyed learning more about you, on sarah’s blog too (another of my fav’s). very cool! take care!

Kimberly Au - I googled “Baked French Toast” for an upcoming trip with my family. I stumbled onto your blog and just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed reading it and looking at your wonderful photographs! And I can’t wait to try your recipe. It is the one I am using next week for friends and family!

Sara - I like you even more now.

Elaine Schienvar - I loved reading this interview … how cool. I also LOVE THE PHOTOS AND HOUSE. WOW!!!!
From another mommy of 5 (girls) who married pretty young.

Amber - Hey! Great interview! I think we all wish we lived next door to you 🙂
BTW, I’m another mama who met her man at school… crushes at 12. Dating at 15. A year break a few years later & now we’re both 34 and have been together 19 years. Married for 14 years.
I love to hear there are other people out there who stumbled upon the best thing at such an early age! Congratulations Meg-an 😉

evan - awe what a great interview! kinda cool to learn those little tidbits about your life (aside from your blog) you’re totally inspiring. and totally cool.

Joy Cronauer...Joy at Home - country living??? this month? that is awesome! i’ll have to go pick it up! tell us how that transpired! this year i found your blog and sarahs so this morning i was happy to see my favorite blogs were chatting! too fun!

meso - you are on apartmenttherapy.com for your heart-shaped rocks…you are a celebrity in my world… m

adrienne - that was a great interview… i learned a lot about you!

kristin - i just read your interview…very nice…my heart really is warmed.
way to go.

Laura - I’ve read all her other celebrity interviews, but had never ‘known’ one of them… you’re the first! Of course I only cyber-know you (can I really call that my brush with fame?)… Enjoyed the interview- see you in cyber-world- or at Sonic 2-4 — 🙂

Angi - I have been reading your blog for about a year and I’m hooked! I would definitely consider you a celebrity, just because of the fact that when I saw you in the Country Living~I totally freaked out!!! I think that What I love the most is how “real” you really are. Thanks

andrea liese - that was a great interview. i did learn something, we have a similar story, had the same guy for a long time (12 years for me) and both got preggers really early in life (17 for me). bu twe pushed threw and made it, and no one thought we would. good story, i love to tell people he is my best friend

andrea liese - scrabble cheeze its are the best

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I feel the same way. I would never want to be famous, rich maybe! Anyway I love your blog and to me you ARE famous. You were in Country Living magazine for heaven’s sake!!

dawn - Great interview. I don’t want to be a celebrity either. Who needs someone else keeping tabs on your cellulite, taking a totally unflattering photo — and then printing it on the front of a magazine for all the world to see? Not me.
You have a beautiful family. I admire you. I have one child and one dog — and am frazzled regularly!!! Oh well. My kid has fun. Our house is a mess and we sometimes call toast and berries “dinner” — but she’s loved and she smiles lots. Even when her hair is stuck to her face with boogies and peanut butter… 🙂

Kristine - I have been a reader for a little while now…your craft room and house got me hooked! I actually can’t remember how I found your blog…but it’s a good one!
Appreciated the verse you noted from Phillipians in your interview. It helped me remember that God initally makes all things good. I just need to keep seeking out the good and the lovely and keep it at the forefront. Thanks for that encouragement, albeit in a roundabout way!
Last tidbit, I’m actually from the Chicagoland area. Graduated from Wheaton College and lived in that area for a short while after…your shots from the Highland Park area remind me a lot of that neck of the woods. I’m in MN (7 years now)…doesn’t sound like a big move, but there are SO many differences!
Great interview and keep up the fabulous photos! Love it!

valerie - You’ve inspired me. I love your blog and decided while looking at it that I’m going to add more pictures to my blog. I have 5 kids (and a husband, dog, house and laundry) too. (Got pregnant at 18 too). My two oldest are grown. Three girls are with us, 14,13,9. Life is very good and keeps getting better. But really, you’ve inspired me.

amy (not corey) - So when I move away to the farm someday, and you’re all bloggy-famous, will you still be my friend?

the rauths - so fun! i love the blogs you point to … but i love your blog more! so much fun. you make 5 kids look realistic. love that! btw … my one comment on kate … after 8 kids i’d probably get a boob job too , and a tummy tuck. no harm no foul! keep up the great work!

Lane - I liked you before I read that interview and now I like you even more!!! I LOVE your blog. You make me want to have 5 kids and a dog…right now we’re at 1 baby and 2 dogs! 🙂 I love that you are so honest and real, but aren’t complaining or ranting….like you mentioned in your interview. You are truly inspirational! Keep up the great work!
We have a lot of the same favorite foods too……I want cheese breadsticks and ranch right now!! 😉

Kathy - Great interview glad I found your blog! Have a great day!

Anna Marie - OH MY GOSH!!! Did Megan get a boob job…did you see her chest??? Ugh!
Bahahahahaha!
I will be sure to address you as “Megan” from now on 😉
I love you MEGAN! You bring happiness to my day. I was a little less happy yesterday because you didn’t get to post 🙁

Carrie - You are a celebrity. The fact that you are so fun, real, and stinkin creative and aren’t afraid blog about it all makes you a blog celebrity. And really, you share so much of yourself it makes you one in your own right.
You don’t get the paparazzi, but then again, you don’t get the swag either. I bet you could have had real snails flown in from California on demand if you were.
Meg “I have never seen real snails. Please find me some snails”
Agent “You betcha Meg. Let me see what I can do”
So, you pick…on demand snails, or adoring blog fans knowing all your business. : )

Mary Elizabeth - You are just on a roll these days .. the magazine and now this .. everyone just wants a piece of miss meg!!!! I might just have to share you on my blog as well. {after vacation!!}

sassafrasanne - face it.
you’re a celebrity.
now let’s sell something of yours on ebay.
🙂
p.s. love the interview!

Shar - I read your interview and really love everything you said. I love your blog and read it everytime you post. I am a grandmother now living with just my 2 dogs but I just really enjoy everything you say. I love your family, your dog, your faith, all of it. And, I love that color of turquoise up there. Is it something you painted and if so what is the color?
Thanks for the entertainment!

Laura Phelps - you are a blogebrity.

Sara at Be Still and Know - great interview meg. you’re totally a celebrity 🙂 …in an awesome “non camera zooming” kind of way 🙂

Wendy - So, would you want to be a celebrity if it didn’t mean that you had to have cameras zoom in on your chest?

kitchendoor - Oh MAN, now I am dying for a Cheez-It. We tried the grown-up Wheat Thin version at my house a couple of weeks ago, and Boyfriend was NOT impressed. The real deal or no deal, I say.
Off to check out your interview 🙂

Trina McNeilly - I like this picture… It makes me happy and it makes me want to eat cheez its….I”m going to read the interview… yay!
xx Trina

Heather @ Cookie Mondays - That was so much fun! The biggest shocker to me is that you mainly go by Megan, not Meg! You’re totally Meg to me. You know, I got pregnant with Chloe at 18 (yeah, not that great at birth control either) which was a big part of making me who I am today! You rock!

Diana - Your interview was amazing! I would love to be a friend in your house sipping hot coffee and chatting about nothing and everything!!!!

Sarah - I promise I won’t zoom in on your chest and ask if you have implants. 🙂 I can’t promise the paparazzi won’t though!!!

adrienneK - wow! i didnt know you were pregnant at 18?!
honestly i feel like crying right now (i was pregnant at 20) (none of my friends had kids etc etc…i now try to live the best life i can and for my kids,my husband and i had to grow up very fast.) one thing that helps me is well blogs going and seeing what everyone is up to,(knowing that other people have chaotic lives but still manage to find themselves amongst it all)you have been such and inspiration to me…ok im gonna stop i sound UBER cheesy!!
congrats celebrity momma!!!

Alyssa - I do not have any idea how you have 5 kids and a dog and a clean house…..I cannot for the life of me seem to manage 3 kids and one 3 yr golden retriever who is at this moment eating a crayon…..making little crayon pieces on the floor and my 18 month old is turning the TV ON and OFF.
What are your words of wisdom….Ms. Celebrity?

so back in may i got a phone call.
ME:  hello.

CL: this is heather and i work for country living magazine and some of the girls here love your blog"

WHAT?
i looked around for a hidden camera.

ME: HA HA HA…is this a joke?

CL: no…we really do.  you take great pictures!
we wanted to feature you in a section called My Country Life.

M:  ummm…i don't live in the country.

CL: that's ok.

(she was calling from new york city so i would say newton is probably pretty "country" to her.)

it was semi-weird for her to know so much about me because of the blog…but that's what i get right?
i answered her questions and still kept thinking it was a joke.
she chose the picture from the blog.
and it's my favorite picture of all of 2008.
annie is just so proud of that fish…and that little polka dot suit on her little bod…her bangs.
and she loves mike.

here's a scan of the little piece….

(Hey, thanks for the shout out on your sidebar. My blog has enjoyed the fleeting notoriety this past week)

Karina - I LOVE your blog; your house and your photography absolutely should be featured in a magazine – it would be so easy for the magazine since you’ve already done the decorating and taken the pictures! You have a huge fan in me, up in Canada! And Annie is as cute as pie, if that’s an expression.

Steph - That is so awesome Meg!! Congrats!! I love that picture too btw. 🙂
