i love this shop!
i hung this sign from Spunky Fluff up in our little stairway at the farm house.

Bill & Ted had it right.
i think those are good words for my children to read over & over as they walk up the stairs to their bedrooms.

and this one… i adore it!

songs is on… ready to go?

we moved to this little farm house rental in march.
it's cozy and we love it here.
in case you don't know our back story or forgot…. we moved to be in smaller community, closer to our kids' school and to use the other house for craft weekends. it was such a big decision but has been nothing less than awesome.

our bedroom at the (now) Craft House was a ridiculously LARGE room.
it made no sense to have a bedroom that big…it was GIANT.
but of course we also got very used to that size of room after 7.5 years.
and now our bedroom is more of normal to smallish size and has also taken some readjusting too.

and it's just fine.

we got our bed when we first moved to the craft house.
and craig has said several times "i can't believe you haven't painted it yet"

someday….
but who has time for that? not me right now.
and it's fine how it is.

we have my grandmother's night stands that she had in her bedroom my whole life.
she always had her rotary dial phone where i have my computer. :)
the bottom part pulls out to give more space or tucks in if you don't want it.
mine is always out and filled with junk… over flowing onto the floor and all around.
while's craig's is tucked in with nothing on or around it.

that is such a true picture of US.

we have room for one dresser in the corner and we each have a closet.
i decided to hang my jewelry on the wall because there is no other place and because it's pretty.

my jar of heart rocks…such a fun collection over the all the years of motherhood.
my "be intentional" art work was several years ago by Jeanne Oliver.

what got me determined to take care of our room and make it a priority after 9 months of not…
even though it's a rental…
was because of this sign from Between You & Me…. with the lyrics from a song that remind me of our decision to move and take crazy steps to do what we needed for our family.
as we tried to make those big decisions last spring that song was on the radio at all the right times.
and i would smile and know that we were doing the right thing.

all we needed was each other.
no matter where we lived… we were HOME.

so i hung the sign first and then worked around it with pictures of us over the last 21 years.

we have been married for 18 years but dated for three years before we got married.

this print from Studio Mela was the perfect touch.

the butterfly pillows are at target right now.
they needed to live at the farm too.

pictures from our first prom, our wedding, our favorite vacations, our 10 year anniversary trip and family pictures all hang here.
this is a special wall.

it's sacred ya know?

marriage is a really big deal.
you vow to stay together FOREVER.
until you die.
so… it really should be honored and cherished and nutured.
surrounding us with reminders of where we came from, who we are and are becoming is one way to do that.

Penny - We have been married 29 years and we have lived in small apartments, a mobile home, a very tiny house with three children and then a bigger house. Every single place we lived I made it our home. No matter if we were renting, buying or what. It was our home. And I will tell you I have been happy at every single place we have lived. Now of course I dreamed of our own home when we were renting. I dreamed of a house when we were in that moblie home. But I was happy every place we lived. Now that we have a larger home with lots of space our girls are growing up and moving on. Isn’t that the way life is! Some of the happiest memories I have are the days with our three little girls in our tiny little rental!

the world of adoption processing is nuts.
it can be wonderful and amazing or it can be LONG and painful and completely frustrating.
i think it's safe to say that the Jupin's have experienced the latter for now
but they are HOPEFUL deep down that the wonderful and amazing is still yet to come.

we have been praying for Davis to come home to his forever family for a long time now.
it's heart breaking.

He needs a mama to hold him.
He needs a daddy to tuck him in at night.

God knows this.

He knows what He is doing.
His timing is perfect… He is good. He loves Davis. He KNOWS.

Christine - I love to watch the debates. In my opinion, this is the most important election of my lifetime. At least up to this point. The two candidates have two very different visions for America, and I want to be informed.

Jeanie - I went to college with him! (Pete K.) He was in plays there and super, super talented.
As for the show, I have never seen it, but he has the talent for whatever role he is playing, I’m sure.

Agnieszka - Love me some Parenthood, too. I’m surprised so many people like Kristina. I find her annoying. The same goes for Hattie. I don’t even know why. I like Sarah and Amber way more. They’re both fun, smart and witty. Also I think Camille is great. I think she’s and ideal mom of adult children. I don’t think I have a favorite man character. And definitely no crushes 😉 But I like them all.

Leslie - Parenthood is THE best show on! I love watching the dynamics of a big family and I just bawled last week when Hattie showed up and they broke the news to the whole family. I love a good cry 🙂

Colleen - I agree, I missed Parenthood too! The debates just make me anxious. Everyone (and I mean everyone) is so mean-spirited and sarcastic. We don’t need that. I love that picture of Adam. He and the guy that plays Joel(Julia’s husband) are tied in my book. Also, I really like Ray Romano on the show. I hope his character sticks around. He has good chemistry with Lauren Graham (Sarah).

Penny - I love Parenthood and was so bummed when I realized it wasn’t on. Hated the debate and went to bed! I wish we could see more of Camille. I just feel like there is so much more to her. I am very happy about the introduction of Ray Ramano’s character. Love him! I can’t really say I have a favorite. I love Sarah. It bothers me sometimes how Adam and Christina’s house gets so noisey when they all talk at once. That is the only complaint I have about the show. Love Love Love Parenthood!

Halley - I love Christina and Adam! I guess it’s because I relate more to them than the others. I have cried the for every episode this year! Somehow this show just connects with the heart of the family. Also find Sarah’s boyfriend slightly annoying and very “little boyish”- dump him and move on. Ray Ramono has a surprisingly soft side. 🙂

Sarah - Parenthood is one of the two shows I like that my husband does as well. I felt the same way on Tuesday when I turned the television on at the end of a long day and saw the debate, not my show. Sigh. I scoured Craigslist for some treasures instead. Headed over to Amy’s shop now. I love the HOME sign you have pictured and think it’s perfect for our new home that was a truly emotional long drawn-out process to purchase. Yes, we’re finally home. 🙂

Jen - I LOVE all the people on Parenthood! But that is one HOT picture of Adam!! I love Julia too. Probably because I am very much like her.

Andrea - I don’t know if I have a favorite on Parenthood because in some ways I can identify with every family. That’s what makes the show so amazing! When my kids are grown, I hope I’m Camille. She’s mellow, yet supportive, and fun.

Tiffany - How u feel about the debate, I feel about the Olympics, especially the kids. EEEK! I can’t stand to watch, too much tension – I can hardly breathe, and so I don’t. I came in late from teaching yoga and I watched the end of the debate, then I went in to the bedroom and got cozy turned on my tv and dvr and was like the home alone kid screaming and shocked, Noooooooooooo! I am the queen of “wholesome goodness” shows, as my husband calls it. It all started with Ed the Bowling Alley Lawyer, Gilmore Girls, and many others. While the rest of the family was skeptical, I pushed for Parenthood…I have definitely won my husband over.
It reaches all of us.
I completely relate to Kristina…and now with breast cancer…I haven’t had it myself, but my mom is a nine year survivor (this month).
I LOVE all the characters and the chemistry. It is ALMOST real life. ALMOST.
Can’t wait to “see” you in class!

alright….it’s a new day.

so i got lots of texts yesterday and emails asking "what's going on??!"
i guess i was making people nervous or being dramatic?

or keep it to myself too often that when i explode people get nervous?
i think people were worried.
it's all ok…it's just HARD….and i wish it wasn't so hard most of the time.

but i got it all out in writing here yesterday and felt so much better almost immediately.
God gave me another day to try again.
thankful for that.

we made chocolate chip cookies. (best recipe ever)
a double batch.
and it was like yummy therapy. :)

then i took the four youngest who were off of school to a movie.
and freddys for dinner.

it was good to get out of the house.

still liking this book a lot.
i am about halfway through….it is very interesting writing…i am so curious to see where it leads.

i had a happy box on my porch.
it's about time i got on board with this company.
what has taken me so long….seriously?
i am a convert.
love them and want to get some more already.

good thing we gave waffle that bath…..

watching talby play volleyball this past weekend made me realize how very tall and grown up she is getting!
right before my eyes.
and she was the only one with out knee pads… #parentfail

speaking of growing up… holy cows.
i don't get the hair but i understand the need to make your choices and have a "style" you like.
i am not sure what that is…but he does and so i am not making a big deal.

he looks good in black and red though.

i am a sucker for good marketing that is visually awesome.

this morning i printed out my pdf files from CLEAN MAMA and i am ready to get organized.
i love that she has the jobs written out already.
that was a huge for me.
i get so overwhelmed with chores and cleaning and keeping up at my house.
so becky has all kinds of ways to help me get organized and doing it such a cute and colorful way!!!

I didn’t write yesterday b/c I didn’t know what to say….except I have moments like those…monthly. Times where I want to scream at my girls, “YOU BETTER START APPRECIATING EACH OTHER!” We wanted siblings because of all the love and joy they bring to each others’ lives. So start enriching already dammit! And the days when nobody listens? Or storms out of the room? Or stomps up the steps? Hello 10 and 12 year olds with attitude.
Anyway. The bad times pass, but they are not fun when you are in the throes. Most definitely you are not alone, and I’d be willing to be you handle it a lot better than I do.

I hope you realize that being a good mom means we get overwhelmed and we get frustrated and we feel like we’re not enough, yada, yada. A good mom does feel like that…alot because you care and you want so desperately to raise kids that love the Lord, and love you and love their family. You want them to succeed in the world and in their life. Check all of that out…that’s alot that we have to do and think about. I’ve said many times that I really don’t know how I would get through raising kids if I didn’t have God to lean on. If I didn’t have prayer and His word I would have to be heavily medicated to do this job. It’s a heavy load to do by yourself. Glad you’re feeling better today. Chocolate chip cookies help 😉 but so does a big God.
P.S. My son went through the wild hair stage at about that age. We let him do his thing and it lasted about a year and after that he’s kept it short ever since. Sometimes I think letting them do their thing (within reason) is the answer.

Sarah - I completely understand where you’re coming from with the hair. I let our 6 year old get a real mohawk this summer and even painted it for him every morning after I spiked it up. It made him happy, it was what he needed after our big move so I went with it. And I’m so glad you’re feeling better! We really do all have those days.

Corny - Kids, I raised 4 and they can embarrass you sometimes, BUT as long as they don’t steal, and are drug free they are going to be just like there parents. Just fine!

I am cringing at that volleyball picture though… #7 has her fingers interlocked. No, no, noooo…. my old volleyball coaches’ voices are playing in my head. haha.

Brooke - Those jeans…don’t even go there…at least I couldn’t. They are not like the target version. They are made for talby size girls with no hips. Not that I’m bitter… At least they have great marketing! I think you are doing a great job walking through this honestly….and knowing that all parents walk through the journey of not knowing if you are doing things right. You’re doing a great job. Clinging to your husband and the Lord and just hoping (praying) that you are not screwing anyone up and that everyone will choose wise things SOMEDAY….
