i was here too late.
i may still drag my family out here anyway for some pictures in the dead flowers…if it rains.
it was dry dry dry out here…dust everywhere.
i had a one thought while clicking away with my camera "GOD IS AMAZING!"

such beauty all around me.
these are such a special treat…..like sunshine right in front of me!

AmyB - So pretty!!!

Beth - Can I use your sunflower pictures for an art class project? They are so much prettier than fake sunflowers. πŸ™‚

~LucyLu ~ - I love the sunflowers where were they? last time we saw you, you could not find them anywhere!
~LucyLu~

meghan - God is amazing. Those flowers are just little reminders…love it.

Laura - I’d like to schedule a photo shoot for the family in dead flowers portrait
LOVE that

candace - AMEN! πŸ™‚
Thank you for sharing the beauty of God’s creation.

katherine - I LOVE sunflowers, they are my favorite….your pics are gorgeous! And yes, God is amazing….love your blog too ~ Blessings, kathy

Courtney Walsh - LOVE sunflowers. they are so happy and fun. Your shots are super awesome! πŸ™‚

Transparent Mama - Amazing photos. You said you don’t use Photoshop. I am just curious what you use to edit them.

Lauren - Wow, these are sorrowfully gorgeous. And the close-ups–what design! I love those little details that He throws in there πŸ™‚

Taylor-Ann - I just love your photo’s. They always look so beautiful and these sunflowers are no exception. They don’t look dead at all.

julia - you could do a representational sort of photo shoot with the flowers. have your kids look sad/neglected, have them roll around in the dirt. call it “late in the season” or maybe “past due” something like that. As Tim Gunn says “Make it work”.

Elizabeth - I always think they look like women’s heads — here, bowing to the universe…

Biz - You are so talented!
http://busybizblogs.blogspot.com/

Gemma - I love sunflowers : )
Gemma x

Sugar Mama - Have you ever seen the dark red sunflowers? So pretty! I like to mix those with the classic sunflower. God IS amazing! How can that be questioned when surrounded by nature?

Privet and Holly - If you hadn’t said
they were half dead,
I never would have
known…..I was too
captivated by the
THOUGHT of a whole
field of these beauties…
Wow!
xx Suzanne

Heather - In the face of beauty, how can we not believe?

Angela - love your sunflower photos. even half dead they are beauties. the flowers, not your photos. love your new mirror by the way. i have one hanging in my garage waiting to be painted. turquoise or yellow. it can’t decide. indecisive mirror!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I’ve got your sunshiny sunflower print right in my living room. Makes me happy every time I look at it. They are an amazing reminder of God’s handiwork!

charity palmer - Sunflowers are my favorite flower πŸ™‚ And GOD is AMAZING! I love your blog!

Sheryl - Just wanted to say that you inspired me to run. Not run away, but run “just to that tree”. Thanks, I really want to get in shape and you are my inspiration to try running.
I also wanted to say thanks for giving my “Project Pillowcase” a boost — we ended up with 107 dresses to send with this group going to the Philippines! That is totally, TOTALLY awesome — and so much GOD.

Flower Patch Farmgirl - That last shot is plum-perfect.

Heather - Amazing indeed. Beauty around every corner…and everywhere in between- if we take a moment to look.
Meg- your photography is amazing! I can not get enough of it. What a gift you have been given!
Blessings,
Heather:)

Amanda - Gorgeous! I’ve wanted some neat pics of some sunflowers…but~
Please be careful out in those fields…There is a HUGE sunflower field behind my father’s house and I took my camera and started out there one day with the kids and he stopped and wouldn’t let me. He said they plant those for the (i think?) Doves because it draws them in and the hunters hide in the flowers and dove hunt…just passing that along πŸ˜‰

Amy - These photos are beautiful!

Kasey - These photos brought a smile to my face and brought back memories. When I was in the Middle East I remember seeing fields and fields of Sunflowers. It was amazing… kind of strange to see such a thing in the middle of Iraq, but it almost gave us a sense of peace. Very beautiful flowers.

shelly - Beautiful!
You’ll have to make a quick trip to il, my best friend has a little field of them that just started blooming late last week! (She gave ma a huge bunch of them…I put the lovelies in my livingroom and then my poor hubby started sneezing like a machine gun! Oh well…they look nice sitting on the porch too ;))

Tara - such beauty from God!!!

Holly - so pretty!

paige - so true! i love a glorious sunflowershoot too!

Tracy - Absolutely gorgeous pictures as always, Meg! You never cease to amaze me in capturing God’s beauty even in dead sunflowers. Awesome! :o) xoxoxo

PaisleyJade - He is! Beautiful photos! While we were in Israel we saw fields and fields of dry, dead sunflowers and I just wished I could have seen them in full bloom.

jaz - What beautiful amazing pictures (and flowers) !
Do you want to do our little photo challenge with us this month? The two topics are “Something Old” and “Beautiful” – those sunflowers would sure fit in the Beautiful category.
Gorgeous!

sarah - love it!
what did you use to round the corners of your photos like that? it’s so in right now…

Your girls are beautiful

Anessa - I love those flowers. My parents had bushes like those outside there house. We would play barbies around those trees and use those little flowers as bouquets. Vera - I have mixed feelings. I’m SO excited about having the kids home and all the fun travels we have planned this summer, and a huge YES to iced coffee!! But when the big kids get out of school at the end of this month is when I have to stop working from home and go back to the office, which means leaving my little baby at home, and THAT I’m sad about.

We loved it and I cannot believe how flaky that crust is! Your pie has the perfect mix of everything not making it too peanut buttery! LOVE.
Thanks for the recipe πŸ™‚

Kimberlee J. - Talby is getting TALL. So cute. I’ll have a chocolate chip cookie dough cone from Braums, please.

Betsy - WOW! You guys get out a week before us. My students come until the 28th and teachers come back for one slow day AFTER Memorial Day. Ugh!

Melissa Morrill - Dear Meg,
Could you please let MOther Nature know that she missed Utah?
Spring would be awesome anytime now πŸ™‚
But your pictures are awesome.
As are you.
Thanks!
~Me

Ashley - I love those pictures! The flower bush there are the kind that are in my grandma’s yard. And we actually had the flower girl at our wedding 7 years ago, throw little clusters of them down the aisle…because they are such a big memory for me! What kind are they??

clean craft room…again

it was closing in on me.
it had to be cleaned.
a little rearranging…letting in some more sunshine…sweeping…tossing…reorganizing.

IMG_6766
the yellow cart became shelves…the top of the lockers were put to good use…a chandelier was hung.
the chandelier used to be in our bedroom but when we made the new closet walls
we forgot to make a place for it.
so it's been in a box for a year…thank goodness it's not anymore.

IMG_6723
IMG_6782
IMG_6744
look….clean counters!

IMG_6761
the window to the right was blocked so i scooted the lockers down and let the sun shine in!

IMG_6770  IMG_6790

IMG_6799
i finally hung the hooks on my door.
i was waiting till i painted the trim and the door with real paint instead of just primer.
then i thought "who the heck cares….it's MY craft room!" so i hung them up.
IF i ever get that door painted i will just take the hooks off.

IMG_6805
i hung my little red shelf that i have had stuck in a box since moving from illinois.
it's the perfect shelf to hold the chalk.
and bottle caps from africa.
and suckers for kids who come in my room to draw on the walls.

IMG_6759
it's such a happy space.
makes me want to breathe big deep sighs of loveliness.
i want to be in here all day long.

but that big crazy family of mine expect so much of me…meals, laundry, groceries, car rides, sports!!!
when is a girl supposed to get crafty?!

ha.

i find time.
i just wish there was more time in the day.
last night i thought "i'm so tired but i am ticked that i have to sleep…i'd rather just go go go"

but my bed is so comfy that i quickly fell asleep
(and had totally bizarre dreams by the way….
in my dream someone said to me "you are not white trash!  you are so far from it!"
i woke up and thought "what the what?!")

well anyway…if you need me…i'll be in the craft room.

Egor - next year, i hope you add september’s (indian lakes) to the list. they have a bleu cehsee-stuffed burger that is excellent. btw, i do hope to ping you once the weather gets nice to check out the stump smoker.~ carpetbagger

Louie Cunningham - Ooh, your craft room is looking good! Keeping things clean and organized can be a little hard, but when you see results like that, you can’t help but work hard to make sure that things are kept in such a state. Well, invest in ways to store some of that stuff later on to prevent an accumulation of clutter!

carpet cleaning lakewood wa - Cleaning up our closets means cleaning the clutter and all stuff that are scattered. This is a routine that we have to maintain in order for us to be able to have the cleanliness that we deserve. hanks a lot for sharing your points of view with us. Keep up the good work

Rachel Ridd - You literally have the best craft room that I have ever seen. Please share where all of the inspiration came from. Is it things that you have been collecting over time? It looks like a room of things that you love.

Morning T - WOWEE…I am in awe of your craft room, it’s absolutely incredible!
Love your blog and your Easter egg adventures were too cute…adding you to my blog roll so I can keep up with you.
Happy Easter to you and your sweet family Meg!!
T

kelly - Love the room…so fun and filled with bits and pieces and it made me want to jump in there and get crafty. I can so relate, I have been trying to clean my bead table for a month, thanks for the incentive!

Carolyn Ruth - I can’t even tell you how jealous I am of your craft room! I LOVE it! Even when it’s messy, I wish it were mine. Although that’s actually true of your whole house…I have looked at the pics of your house many times. πŸ™‚

Vera - I have to admit – I covet your craft room. I LOVE it! It’s about the size of my living room, and my craft room is a table and a dresser in our dining room ha! But just looking at your pictures was the inspiration I needed to finish sewing my kids’ Easter outfits.

Magchunk - I love how colorful and just packed to the gills your craft room is! It is bursting with creativity. After this post I just want to color, sew, stamp, cut, and glue!

Ann at the Handley Bungalow - Hi Meg! Being the 84th to comment, I doubt you’ll see this but I just had to say how much I LOVE your craft space and every wonderful, perky thing in it! The pictures of it alone are uplifting. You are such a creative gal and I know you inspire many, including me for sure! Hope you have a wonderful Easter! XO Ann

sara's art house - Oh my goodness! Your chalkboard wall is gorgeous- I am so going to erase all my white words and add colored chalk!!!! Love it. Love the verse.

Rachel - The bird with a french fry poster is awesome! My daughter and I have a spot where we park and throw fries to pigeons; they land all over the car and we laugh until our bellies hurt. Weird dream! Speaking of weird dreams, my daughter woke up the other day and said, “Mommy, I dreamed you were feeding me washcloths for breakfast and I didn’t want them but you said don’t waste the food you made.” Wonder what that says about me? πŸ˜‰

DreamGirlLisa - I sooooo LOVE your craft room! I need to make mine more colorful like yours, although is just a mini version, it could be a lot more inspiring. I’ll keep looking at your pictures and maybe I’ll get to it…when I have time. I totally get the not wanting to waste time sleeping πŸ™‚

kristine - looks fantastic (once again)! good for you!

TheBookworm - Lovely room!
Oh how I wish I could get you to decorate for me. Or at least make me a few things…pillows, blankets, etc!

kathy b - If my spare space could look pretty instead of just junky I would indulge myself an area for crafting. You manage to impart that prettyness to your area.
It makes me chuckle to recognize some familiar pieces of chenile. At my house they just kept getting moved around without ever being made into anything. They just made me feel guilty. I hope they don’t create any guilt in you!
Kathy b

Meredith - A pocketful of sunshine, Meg. It’s so important to have a happy place to “escape” to far from the maddening crowd.

linda lou - meggie it’s me again when i say i’d take the chandelier off your hands i mean i’d buy it$$
within reason unless its got true meaning in your life (: my aunt gave me her’s out of her new build home over 20yrs ago and it has hung in two different diningrooms so if i move from here it goes with me and i hope its not the nursing home ): lindalou

Maria - ok, 3 things:
1. Can I move into your craft room? love.it.
2. ‘what the what?’…lol, this is a new saying in our home after ds4 repeated after hearing it…his version was hilarious
3. did I mention I love your craft room? sigh. those red lockers!

Jenna - Are you selling these upcoming pillows on etsy?? I want a pillow so badly πŸ™‚

Diana - what did you toss?? what?! i want it!
LOL!
ahhhh, sunshine, mmmmmmmmm!
β™₯

linda lou - meggie i’ll take the chandiler (sp) off your hands?? i cleaned today w/my daughter in law and you need sunglasses it so clean….
linda lou

amanda fuentes - I have 3 of the little red/white polka dot boxes I spyed on top of a pile in one of the pics.. 50% off Vday clearance! I love them! I NEED one of those red/white polka dot bags hanging on your still needs to be painted door.. πŸ™‚ Red and white polka dots are my favorite!

peta - oh I heart heart heart your special crafting space. such carefully placed INTERESTING and unique pieces. Mine is so bland and looks like it stepped out of a flat-packed store (because it has). I am inspired to go thrifting and paint some chalkboard paint on something!
thanks for sharing. i could look at pictures of the corners of your home all day long.
Happy Easter!

Sally Mangham - Love the hooks on the door. I also LOVE the littl red shelf. Too cute!

amy jupin - LE SIGH!
you’re killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i look at these pics and i see so many of the same things i have. are we total twinkies or what?

Lynn - Oh I love love love your space! How fantastic! Where did you get the print that says “Today I will be happier than a bird with a french fry”? I love that!

candace - what a fun space!

Tere - I’m in love…..

Emily - I agree! You are SO far from white trash!
(I’ve been having odd dreams myself)
You have inspired me to put more love (and color!) into my little craft area. I love your red shelf. And the chalkboard. And the cherry tea towel hanging on your cabinet. (Reminds me of mine, http://thatcraftymrsv.blogspot.com/2010/03/aprons.html) Seems we all love lots about your lovely little room!
And if I lived anywhere near you, I would love to come and sit in your craft room with you while you sew and we could talk and I would have a lollypop. (:
Emily

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Best place Evah. I still adore that white/green chippy cabinet with the pink felt flower thingys. And your verse. And your “I am here to serve with JOY”. Oh, and your dream. From one crazy dreamer to another – good one. πŸ™‚

Trasie - UUUMMM If I promise to pick up after myself can I come and live in your craft room?

sharron - a happy happy place.. i loved my visit.
blessings~

Kelly - lovely! Thanks for showing us. I have the exact same thoughts about having to sleep but unfortunately I’m not sleeping well these days at 8 1/2 months pregnant. πŸ™ Kelly

Shara - I wanna live in your craft room! I’ll help you make pillows!

jen - I was thinking to myself, I wish that I had a craft room like Meg’s. The funny thing is that I could have one–not a beautiful light-filled one (it’s in the basement) but I could MAKE IT NICE if I ever made the time to paint the drywall, to hang stuff up, to out in some storage and a couple of tables…IT’S UP TO ME. And I am inspired by your room.
Thanks.

nella paper studio - this looks like the perfect place to create something bright and fun! Love the chandelier.

Rebecca Reynolds - As much as I love to sleep, I too, wish I didn’t need to. It just takes up so much time! πŸ™‚

susan wilson - Fun seeing the Snap on Tools holder in your pictures. You purchased that at my garage sale a couple of years ago. I orginally bought it at Round Top in Texas.

Valley - Oh *sigh….
You make me dreamy!!
Looking forward to getting my hands on some of your pillows….always a day late….lol and usually a dollar short…it’s that stay at home mom thing! Hehehe
Happy Easter!!

patti - so lovely. i’m watching the clock waiting, just waiting for the play room to become my craft room. my kids are only 5 and 2 1/2 – i think i’m going to be watching the clock for a very, very long time. but it’ll be worth the wait when i get there! πŸ™‚ have a wonderful weekend and easter!!

Marie - I want your craft room;) It’s lovely. And you literally made me LAUGH OUT LOUD! I feel ya…I have so many things to sew and paint! When my hubby came home from work today and asked what we were having for dinner, I cheerfully replied, “leftovers”! (Cause, ya know, microwave=more time to craft!) He’s not as enthusiastic about that as I am…? Time to go all out and plug in the crock pot! πŸ™‚

purejoy - dude. i would never leave. i’d leave to go menus by the phone and tell my family to order carry out. i’d put in a cot. and a coffee maker. and a portapotty. seriously. never leave. i’d order in a basin of water and take sponge baths and open up windows when the stank of me got too bad. geesh. what a perfect room. it made me want to go thrifting. ohmyword. i was in heaven for just a second.

Sarah@Clover Lane - ooooooh…house pics….you know how i feel about looking at your house. i’ll take any glimpse i can get.
love.

Jill - Cleaning a craft room is so fun. I love the rediscovery of goodness, the promise of crafts to come. Thank you so much for sharing your space.

Amy Lynne - I cannot wait to have a craft room again! Yours is just beautiful and so cheery! Love it!

AshleyAnn - So it is breaking a Ten Commandment to covet your neighbors wife….is it still breaking a commandment if you are coveting your online friend’s craft room? Just curious.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Your creative space is so fun and colorful. I LOVE THAT CARD…a bird with a french fry. It just cracks me up:)

J.B. Kinrich - Yum! Makes me want to come play in your craft room!

kelly - Love your chalkboard wall… especially the verse written on it. πŸ™‚ That’s EXACTLY where we’re living right now. πŸ™‚ Everything looks lovely.

Dick in Ohio - The black wooden Snap-On Tools box caught my eye. I was a Snap-on Tools distributor some twenty years ago. Still buy them and use them everyday at my business. Best mechanic’s tools you can get. Really enjoy your blog. Proud of you for going to Haiti, enjoyed the pictures.

ashley - Oh Meg! Everything is just so lovely and happy. I want this room, actually I want your whole house. Or maybe just a sprinkle of whatever happy dust you use.

when i found this typewriter at the antique store…i nearly passed out.
i had planned on perusing the store but there it was in the second booth….DONE.
no need to shop anymore.
there is no way there was anything cooler in the entire store.
period.

**********************************************************************************************************************
thank you for all the encouragement in the comments yesterday.
after i wrote that (long long post) it was like a cloud lifted.
my thoughts were out of my head and i felt good about them.
love that.
so excited to see where the journey leads.

happy weekend….see you on monday!

Whitney - I just discovered your blog today! So much inspiration for my own! I loved all of your pictures- beautiful family, beautiful house, beautiful crafts! Your dog is so cute- looks like my Wheaten Terrier- what is he/she? Love it all! So happy I found you, thanks to Ashley Ann Photography!

Jen Tufts - AHH! I’ve been looking for a typewriter like that since I saw a photo of one on flikr last year. Can I ask how much you paid? I’m tempted to say if I saw one, I’d take out a loan to buy it because it seriously makes my heart stop.

valerie - the typewriter is gorgeous. does it work?

Michelle - Just took a tour of your painted lady home. Beautiful, the pictures as well. Must be heaven to live what you love!

Andrea - LOVE! The leopard shoes.

lindsey - That typewriter is awesome! I am quite jealous of this find. πŸ˜‰

pve - I was thinking that you just need to let go and let god. Place your trust in knowing that you are not in control, you are merely here to serve. I think you are serving so many – so well – and that someone is indeed watching you with a grand master plan.
Good things to you – Happy Thanksgiving.
pve

Flower Patch Farmgirl - I hope hope hope I never tire of that perfect shade of aqua. I can’t imagine that I will, but I also used to think that about Shabby Chic everything.
Also, I love that you have “pray” listed under Chores. It just cracked me up. πŸ™‚

Mandi - 2 Questions:
1) The circular “M” tag that is in one of the pictures–is it for sale? I have a collection of M’s hanging on my living room wall–I call it my M wall and when I saw the one in your photo, I fell in love! Just wanted to check.
2) I also love the flowers–are they hair clips? Are they for sale?
Thanks!
Mandi

sherry - Been eyeing your rainbow cake/cupcakes for a few months in anticipation to make them when my youngest turned one…it was a long process but so fun! Thanks for sharing that!! I think it will be a new tradition at our house for sure!
Here our some pics… (pay no attention to the outside of the cake–not exactly my forte πŸ™‚ )

wednesday

it is gloomy and DARK this morning.
i overslept and scott woke me up at 8:00…the time the bell rings at school.
so our morning did not start off well.

annie didn't seem to mind at all.
we got the big kids dropped off…i changed out of my pjs and we walked to her preschool.

IMG_8654
can you believe the fall goodness around us?

IMG_8665

she had on her brand new Cora dress…and her mac n' cheese for F week (food).
she couldn't wait to get there.

IMG_8660
IMG_8679
her choice.
what a happy sight to see.

if i got to go to her preschool…i'd be running there everyday too.
IMG_8680
there was a Feast set up with doll babies….

IMG_8682
and pumpkins everywhere.

IMG_8687
IMG_8691
IMG_8692

such a happy place.

i didn't want to leave today.  i should have just sat down and played too.
oh well.

i am going to go walk in the gloomy weather…and suck in all the fresh air i can.
i need it.

on a different subject…
yesterday i got to photograph my youngest model yet.
gretchen jane came in to the world at 1:28 PM and i was there to see it.
a pure blessing straight from God to my lovely neighbors.
it was a true honor to be there…i can't even describe it.

who could possibly feel gloomy after that?

kbbryant.wordpress.com - Oh I so miss teaching preschool. I took a deep breath and immersed myself in the classroom photos and pretended I was back. This time of year is so fun when you work/live with preschool age kiddos.
Thanks for the making my day.
Kathy b

that’d cheer me up any gloomy day
πŸ™‚

valerie+madigan - Greatest post!!
Where can I find a Cora Dress for my peach?
And those funky tights are a dream paired with the dress….

Valerie+Madigan

Jerri - Aren’t you glad that even when you oversleep the day doesn’t have to remain gloomy and bad?!?! I like to think that these are the times God allows us to get the rest we needed! πŸ™‚ I love the beauty of Fall and Annie looks adorable in her Cora dress!

Lucy Buller - Cute………………………………………………….. we have such cooooooooool leaves! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

kristin - oh, this makes my heart swell.
i love seeing this place through someone else’s eyes…and heart.
it is a happy place.
thanks for being part of it….what will i do next year? you could get on that…

jennifer - OMGosh… I want a Cora dress! For big grown up me! :o) So cute! As is the little peanut wearing it! And those fall colors.. to die for! We skipped fall here and went straight to snow and winter. The leaves fell green… I’ve never seen that before. So sad! Oh well…

Toni :O) - I LOVED this post and that Cora dress…this post made me SO happy and I smiled, smiled big…now I can go and tackle my huge workload…thank you. You’re awesome and I wish you were my neighbor! Hugs and blessings to you on this Fall day! :O)

Sarah @ Clover Lane - What’s funny Megan is that her preschool classroom reminds me of the photos of your house! All colorful and fun and creative and imaginative and bright and cheery!

Ruth - those are the happiest pictures ever! beautiful cora dress, and adding the striped tights was just perfection… go annie!

Her class does look great.
Can’t wait to see your baby pics. I felt that way today…kind of blah (our house really gets me down, my life feels out of control, blah, blah, blah) and I was walking through our church (which has a school where my son attends) and the child care person was taking the babies for a stroller ride in one of those really big buggies that seats six little ones. They were all strapped in like a roller coaster ride. The baby girl in front had on those little socks that look like shoes (so cute!) and her feet were sticking straight out and she was twirling them around at the ankles, like only babies can. None of them were crying, most of them were smiling and watched me walk by. I cheered up in a half-second. There was no way around it!

Debra - I love how your little girls wear such bright and cheerful clothes! The preschool looks like a fun place too.

Rachel / cREaTe - i ADORE that shot of annie’s striped legs, red patent leathers, apple dress & the red hedge. BEβ€’Aβ€’Uβ€’TIβ€’FUL. just gorgeous.

Jennifer - Thanks for sharing the fall pictures. We had an early freeze (ahem, snowstorm) the weekend before last, and all of our leaves fell and froze! Without ever turning any colors. πŸ™ It was the dreariest saddest fall ever (followed by a weekend of 80 I might add).
