Craft Weekend #14

this was a pretty awesome group of women.
and they are late nighters!

🙂

my kids just got on the bus and i am headed back to bed to sleep the rest of the day.
i will tell you all about our weekend soon.
but right now i can barely keep my eyes open.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

i wanted to share with you a beautiful piece of art that Lori Danelle made for me.

IMG_9397-1

it is cut paper!

every detail is so delicate and perfect.
i love seeing how each line is connected… SO creative.

she hand cuts all of this!!

IMG_9399-3

IMG_9400-4

she made this for me based on this post i wrote back in september.
i had had a very bad day related to parenting and this verse was the hope i was clinging to.

isn't Lori's work absolutely stunning?
can you even imagine how long this would take her?!
it is AMAZING.

Love never fails.

Go see Lori's great talent at her shop and read her blog.

i really think that i need this print at my house.
and the craft house.
who doesn't need that cheerful reminder daily?

thank you Lori for blessing me with such an awesome reminder of the gift God gave me… LOVE.

Tiffany - What a talented lady! That sure is stunning! Excited to hear all about your weekend!

chandu - Meg ! Lady ! You definetely know your shoes..be it the pink sparkly converse or those silver flats you are wearing.Love your choice of footware and that brings me to my question…mind telling where you got those sandals, thats exactly what I am looking for.PLEASE !

ashley @ little miss momma - I love learning how small this world is when I find out I am connected to someone I have never met. Hopefully I will get to meet you one day when I’m out visiting Bens family. Are you still it the same ward?
xoxo, ashley

sarah katherine - on the listing in her blog it says they are all laser cut, not hand cut

Claire - That paper cut is amazing. I tried to hand cut some (much less intricate that those) before and they turned out so disappointing. That blue she uses is so happy!!

Lori Danelle - So glad you like it! It was my pleasure. 🙂
Looks like you had an amazing group at CW! So much fun!!!

Gina - Phenomenal paper cutting!! That is my favorite Bible verse and I have a different print of the verse that hangs in my bathroom. I read it often! But I think I need the papercut version. Thanks for sharing and have a good recovery from Craft Weekend 🙂

Katey Deasy - THAT is amazing. What a gift of love. WOW! So inspiring. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to hear about the weekend. Hope the Kanas storms miss you guys.

Mique - Still feels like a dream. The pic turned out great! And I love that design from Lori Danielle.
So grateful that I was able to come this weekend. You and Kimberlee are the best hosts!! xo

SV - Wow! So pretty! There are so many talented people in the world. Looks like another great weekend! I don’t know LMM personally(we attended church with her husband before we were all married and know her in-laws) but, from the looks of her blog, she seems like such a nice and fun person…as I imagine you to be, too. 🙂

happygirl - That is gorgeous. You rest well.

colette - This group of gals got an extra bonus… Little Miss Momma in their group! That’s awesome!! Looking forward to hearing more about it!

Sarah{Handbags*N*Pigtails} - I actually saw an entire storefront display that was paper cut this past weekend! Hubby and the girls and I were walking through a town we hadn’t visited in awhile and I stopped and just stood there in awe staring at it. I love how art has so many different forms.
And I spy two familiar faces in the CW photo-Mique and Ashley. Can’t wait to hear about the newest weekend.

so pretty.

i have a fabric addiction.
i bet this is not news to you.
i am so thankful that i have found a way to be able to feed my addiction through my job.  :)

i can use it for craft weekend.
i can use it for my shop.

although i order a lot online (hawthorne threads and fabric.com) my favorite way to buy it is in person.
there is something about seeing the colors with my own eyes… feeling how soft it is… putting it together with other patterns… it gets my creativity going.

i thought maybe you would like to see what i chose last week at Sarah's.

my love runs deep.

🙂

craig and i had a discussion about "art" last week.
we discussed what inspires us… art or not.
he and i are very different and that is totally fine.
the things that inspire him, do not inspire me and the things that inspire me, do not inspire him.
it was interesting to talk with him and learn more about him.

because in my brain… color and pattern and texture is supreme.

i can barely read books or concentrate sometimes on certain things because i am thinking about creating.

i see these patterns and i want to draw.

i see these colors and i want to paint.

i feel this fabric and i want to sew.

i am at a restaurant and i notice the shape of the light fixtures or the tile on the floor.

i see a sunset and i notice what colors are in it and where they meet and blend.

i LOVE these things.
i thrive on these things.
i get antsy when i am not able to find it… like gray winter days stuck in the house.

and it's fascinating to learn that other people do not think this way… and then what does make them tick?

where do they find that inspiration?  what makes them happy or brings joy or satisfaction?

isn't it amazing how we are all so different and unique?

i love that God did not make us the same.

and that He gives us people in our worlds who understand us.
or that may not understand but can appreciate the gifts we each were given for our own life.
such a blessing.

Thanks God for color and pattern and ART!

what are you thankful for?

where does your inspiration meet joy in your heart?

Penny Smith - Have you been to a “Love and Respect” conference? It was really good. Great two days. We do pretty darn well, but what they had to say helped us still! And yes. We are VERY different!!
All that fabric was wonderful-I ESPECIALLY love the wood grain!

Robin - Inspiration feeds the soul – as does your blog which is one of two that I look forward to looking at every day! No matter what – I have to see what’s up at whatever!
It’s funny you talk about inspiration – I have been mired in the muck of taxes and paperwork and “quicken” for the last ten days and am usually a right brain gal so I desperately needed a creative “fix” today. On the way to the supermarket I veered left into the Michael’s parking lot and literally, just SLOWLT walked up and down every aisle simply LOOKING for an hour. I didn’t need or want anything. I just wanted to see color, materials, inspiration. It filled me before I went to do the week’s grocery shopping and a sense of peace and calm came over me as I investigated glitter, paint, silk flowers, and such. It was completely frivolous, and pure joy. All I bought were some lime green paper straws. For someday. A lunch with friends? I imagine cutting out flower shapes and gluing Daisies to the straws…with lemonade or iced tea……
Thank you for always being an inspiration!

Wendy - Love these fabric pics! I tried to go to Sarah’s once when we were in Lawrence and it was closed. 🙁 Wonh wonh I love your pics.

rosewoodfloral@hotmail.com - Meg, I love how you put into words the things that make your heart sing…I am so aware of all the little things that make up this whole beautiful world too…. My hubbie sees almost none of what I see…he likes to be in the woods. He likes to hear birds and the crackling of leaves as critters move underfoot. I like those things too, but I would be noticing how the sun’s rays are shining thru the trees, how the patterns on the bark are spectacular, finding a kodak moment in just about everything I looked at. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t take photos, cause there is just so darned much beauty all around us and I want to preserve it!
love your blog~

denise@victory rd. - i think if you found fabric for me that would inspire me. you could be my personal fabric shopper. 🙂
i do love that God made us all so unique. it would be boring if we were all alike.
it is important that we value our unique differences and celebrate them (as you do here).

Flower Patch Farmgirl - FOR THE LOVE, make this sister a skirt with that first peony and the gray stripes. OR the second peony fabric and the green/white stripe. (It’s your fault for pairing them up!) See how accommodating I am? I give you options!

Flower Patch Farmgirl - FOR THE LOVE, make this sister a skirt with that first peony and the gray stripes. OR the second peony fabric and the green/white stripe. (It’s your fault for pairing them up!) See how accommodating I am? I give you options!

Blanche - Love the bicycle fabric. Who made it?

Jenny B. - So true. I went to an education seminar a while back where the speaker talked about the different ways boys and girls learn and see the world (like literally, with their eyes). One thing he mentioned was that most girls see color and texture, while most boys see lines and movement. God made us different. 🙂
Digital scrapbooking really gets me going. I stay up late creating pages, and when I finally go to bed, I lie down with a smile on my face and tell God thank you for all the pretty colors. 🙂 That’s when I’ve felt successful. When I’m struggling to make my photos and the papers and do-dads come together, I gain appreciation for God’s creativity and the fact that he SPOKE the world into being. I sometimes wish I could look at my blank computer screen and say, “Let there be a colorful, heart-warming page for my four-year-old’s birthday,” and there it would be. Ha. 🙂 I read a post recently about creativity and how we can know it matters to God, and I loved what she had to say:
http://karapaslaydesigns.blogspot.com/2013/03/design-does-it-really-matter.html

GardenOfDaisies - I’m here visiting from Jemm’s. What gorgeous fabrics. Love this explosion of color and pattern. It will be interesting to see what you make with them. I love all the wonderful color in the world, too, but I also find a lot of comfort and serenity in gray days. I think it’s my way to recharge.

Jen - YOU inspire me! Your blog, all that colour, you help me through the blah! Spring inspires and being still stuck under piles of snow D O E S N O T H E L P! Flowers, tree buds, all living things, all things imperfect and time worn, dilapadated old houses…I want to fix them ALL up and bring colour and cheer to the world. And I have a mean fabric collection too…which I don’t do enough with, but it keeps growing!

Melissa - My 4-year old niece watches tv and during every commercial for kids items, she says “WANT THAT”. This is what I said looking at your fabric. WANT THAT. WANT THAT. LOVE it!

Angela A - I too love fabric–and finally figured out I could make quilts to use it. And have a reason to buy more. I buy a lot online with good sales but also try to go to the stores, especially to see new lines and the larger scale prints. It’s harder to see those online. I am inspired by the fabric, the colors in them, by nature and travel, seeing new patterns, textures, color combos, and people. I am inspired by blogs and real life houses, seeing how others use color and decorate in new ways. I also spent a long time staring at the lamp over my table at Chuy’s trying to figure out how to make it.

Jen - Thank you so much Penny! It was an amazing day with God at the very center!

roganne - such beautiful fabrics! how could i possibly go to sleep now when i want to create something! i too have a deep joy in my heart for creating things…giving new life to something that is unwanted…planting seeds and watching them grow. He made me a nester! and i love Him for it!

jodie - Love the fabric-great choices you made there!!
me, i am thankful for the….honeycomb pattern…gets me every-time….what a great design created by the creator…so glad he thought of it so I could be mesmerized!!!(not to mention the little creatures that help make it -so amazing!)

Kelly - I love the bicycles on the white and both peony/cabbage rose? prints. I too love color and pattern and texture and notice things like tile and light fixtures. i love that my husband appreciates that about me and knows it about me. He has an eye for the visual in photography and such but also is inspired by other things as well. I am also inspired by breezes. Moving air and water are both a big deal to me. Kelly

Sharla - I thought I had spotted bike fabric – NEED now! Thanks

Kimberlee Jost - Where joy meets my heart:
The beach.
Barnes and Noble.
Recipes.
That one fabric. You know the one.
Greenhouses full of flowers.
Cheese.
Wine.
Bread.
Europe.
Love.
You get the idea. 🙂

kerry - Oh that bicycle fabric is just GORGEOUS!!!!! I’m in love 🙂
I’m inspired on a daily basis by others who fill their blogs and therefore my mind and heart, with colour, love & happiness! *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*
Kerry x

happygirl - I love that God made us all different, too, at least in the things that inspire us. I’m super glad for God’s love and forgiveness, too.

Danielle - Great fabric choices,I saw at least ten that I want right now! Sunny days, being outdoors, color, textures, pattern and my kids all inspire me:)

sharon - I am thankful for all of our senses that God blessed us with! At the moment im thankful for the wonderful fabric eyecandy youve shown us! Wow! Thankyou!

Stephanie - Oh my. There is such beauty here! I totally get what you’re saying about color and pattern and texture. I LOvE color. But since I can’t draw or paint I tend to want to express it through photography and sewing (when I have the patience). There are not many things I can get lost in, but photography of nature is one of them.
Thanks for always creating beautiful blog posts!

Jack - I always find your blog and your love and use of colour so inspiring! I always look forward to reading your blog posts and looking at your lovely colourful photos!

Stephanie Talty - Love the bicycle fabrics!!!

C - I get what inspires you. I worked in retail for 20 years and my favorite thing was to do the merchandising. Creating displays with the products and making clothing/fabric look like other things to creat the atmosphere in the space. Now I see colors and supplies and want to create. I also notice the light fixturea and tiles…i think my husband thinks I’m crazy sometimes, but he has his things too. Thinking outside the box is so much fun…CREATE!

Penny - Jen, what a beautiful wedding your family put together! You can see the look of pure joy in your daughter’s face.

Lora - Yes! I don’t “get” people who don’t notice things like… flowers, colors, furniture, gardens, home decorations, pictures, wind chime sounds, paint, textures, turquoise! 🙂 I don’t know how these people live in this beautiful world!? But, you’re right, God made us all different. I’m glad he made me this way though.

Lindsey - I too am inspired by fabric and color. I smiled when I saw your fabric choices – many were the exact same as I have bought lately! Love them! I feel the need to create everyday, even if it is something small. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to do so.

Tracy - Aaaahhh…what a beautiful post! I’m thankful for books to read and knowledge to learn! God is good 🙂

Jen - These are lovely! I am 45 years old and am just finding my “inspiration”! I was forced (by budget contraints!) to do a lot of creating and sewing for our daughter’s wedding last year. I found that I LOVED it and I’m starting to gear up to do my first scrappy quilt! I can’t wait! I’m wondering if you have a “target price” for your fabrics? Do you try to get them below a certain price per yard? Do you wait for sales? Do you use every last scrap? Just being nosy!
On another topic: we had Lynnette’s creamy ham and noodles for dinner last night. Always a YUMMY hit at our house! Thanks for sharing.
Jen
P.S. Proud momma moment: our daughter’s wedding (that I had to get “my craft on” for was featured on the fabulous wedding blog, Style Me Pretty, if you’d like to take a peek! It was SOOO much work but worth every second for the amazing day God gave us!
http://www.stylemepretty.com/2012/12/05/gettysburg-bb-wedding-by-abby-caldwell-photograph/

Heather Simnitt - I am inspired by God’s creation. I love the beauty of a sunrise, a sunset, the mountains, the beaches, the prairies. Flowers and water and all the gorgeous things God chose to place in our world – totally sets us apart from the other planets, KWIM? How you feel about fabric and art – it’s how I feel about travel. Some people don’t get it. I’m not looking for a continuous vacation from life….I want to explore, learn, and take in the magnificent creation that God blessed us with. I think about where to go and what to see and do all the time. We no sooner come home from a trip before I am inspired by what we saw to want to go out and see some more…plan another trip….look into exploring this amazing sphere!

Jenn - I completely agree! We are all so different. I’m thankful for those that love numbers, my husband gets them. I find them boring. But we need number people. I love creating. I definitely gravitate towards others that are like me. And those that aren’t, I try to convert them…hehe.

Jen - Super love the bicycle and wood grain fabric…

angela - My seven little grands….nothing gives me energy and happiness like spending time with them!

Seriously Sassy Mama - I am thankful for color. Especially color in paint and ceramics. I am thankful for dishes. They make me happy!

Mary - There is not a single pattern or color here I do not like! Color sends me too. My husband is a financial planner…my eyes glaze over when he begins to excitedly explain to me a plan…it does take creativity to do what he does…it’t just different! I am learning to actively listen…lol.
The top of my list for inspiration is color, design, pattern, books, lets not forget books…I love pulling all those together…I love arranging and re-arranging rooms…I love working in my journal and showing women how to take their first steps in using visual journaling as a way to connect with God in new ways and exploring their hearts with color, image and word!
Yes, thank God for all the ways he enables us to be creative…he provided unlimited ways to express ourselves didn’t he…
Meg, I love coming to your blog, daily. I am always inspired, encouraged and always get a punch of glorious color! Your beautiful heart shines brightly here.

Jill - Oh my! We are kindred spirits! I am exactly the same way. You should see my fabric collection. I just like to look at it! I have to stay away from the fabric stores… and there are some fun ones here in Omaha….because I can’t go in without walking out with a bag full of inspiration!
On another note. I have been a blogger for a long time… however, some life changing things have happened in the past couple of years causing my blogging to come to a complete halt. Anyway… I am ready to hop in again. Visiting you always makes me smile and inspires me so much. I want to thank you for that. I am ready to move forward again. I miss that creative outlet so much. I just hope people will find me again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
And by the way…. you are just too darn cute!!! And I love reading about your beautiful family!

shar y - Great question and beautiful post! I am thankful that I can see beauty in so many places. Just this morning, on the way to work, I was admiring the sunrise glow in the sky and how the light posts on the freeway looked so cool in front of that glow. It was so pretty!

Linda - So beautiful! Makes me happy to see all the colors and brightness. Grateful for all our differences! Have a happy day!

tinaehb3 - I loved the color blasts 🙂 I’m trying to knit a scarf. Only my second project since trying this….it’s definitely going to take me more than a day 🙂

Angela A - Thank you! I love your blasts of color! That’s what brought me to your blog. I worked on a quilt and finished it today. I have another one waiting behind it, but I think I need to add a few blasts of color at my own house, and work out a better system to take quilt pictures outside. And go to work.

it’s a good monday.

IMG_20130114_124639

i slept until noon today.
i did get up from 6:45 to 7:30 to see my kids off to school but then straight back to bed.
sleep is a good thing.

craft weekend was pretty excellent this past weekend.

lindsey and joy came as helpers and were nothing less than amazing at that job.

we did not plan our wardrobe… we just happened to all match perfectly!

IMG_20130111_203441

wendy came too!!  (blurry picture is better than no picture? maybe 😉

she took a bajillion photos for us doing all the things we do at Craft Weekend and i got to spend time with her which was super happy for me.

i hope you loved being here as much as i loved having you here wendy!
maybe you should ditch your world tour and just come to craft weekend every month???
there will be cinnamon rolls….

i know you are tempted.

kimberlee pampered us all with food that tastes so much better than anything i could ever make.

IMG_20130112_181952

and our crafty guests were awesome.
so kind.
so happy.
so lovely.
such a treat to have them and get to create alongside them.

tulips are so cheerful in the freezing cold of january.

IMG_0785-2
we made a really cool painting!!

IMG_0899-3

and these were the treasures i brought home from the antique store on saturday.
a quilt…some vintage trims… salt shakers for holding tiny craft supplies…sugar shakers for twine…and a pencil sharpener for the craft house because we are always looking for pencils!

i can't wait to share about the actual weekend.
and tell you about our awesome sponsors we had this month.
it was just a really great time.

now… i guess i have to go run off the cheesecake & cinnamon rolls i stuffed myself with this weekend.
or at least i should go.
but… i would have to get out of my jammies.
and it is 25 degrees out.

we'll see what happens….

happy monday to you!

hey there…

i started writing this last night…..

i am eating a bowl of cocoa pebbles in bed at 12:30.

i just packed for Craft Weekend…ironed my shirts…filled my bags.

i am ready to get this party started again!
we took a long-ish break over the holidays.
i miss kimberlee!

annie had appointments today about her arm so we did that all morning.
then i ran to hobby lobby for CW supplies and other errands.

i took a sweatshirt back to american eagle for sean that was too small.
i spent 15 minutes deciding which one… picked… paid and left… only to discover when i got home that i bought THE SAME SIZE I WAS RETURNING!!!

so lame.

sometimes i am such a ding dong.

the cashier's look makes so much sense now when i said "it's too small." and then bought the same size.
i wish she'd spoken up.

i made lettuce wraps for only myself for dinner.
and ate them standing over the pan on the stove.

i did yoga from a dvd i got at the grocery store.
🙂
as soon as it started i thought "what was i thinking? i didn't even read the box?!"
it was fine.
a lot of breathing… i liked it actually.
i feel all stretched.
misson accomplished.

i registered for the half marathon in april.
paid real money.
scaaaaaary.
i figured it would help motivate me.

————————————————————————————————————————————-

and then i fell asleep.

now i am here with kimberlee.
we are getting everything ready…catching up on life and setting up.

IMG_0595-9
i have about 24 hours to make this space pretty.
with all of this….
IMG_0601-10

so i have to quit writing and get busy.
it is time to crank up the music and WORK!

Susannah - Awww… I hope someday to be able to go to craft weekend. Another blogger I read just said she was going this weekend. I’m sure you will all have an amazing time!

Tiffany - *sigh* I miss CW, the food, the fun, and all of the amazing women there. It seems strange to say I miss you and the other women since we only spent a few short days together, but it’s true. 🙁 Those ladies are in for such a treat!

Jennifer - Target has a block set of rainbow-colored knives and I think of you every time I walk past it! I’m glad to see you have one (yours looks even nicer).

I want to go in such a big bad way.

anyways, give kimberlee a hug from me.
i just know y’all are going to have a blast this weekend.
xo.

Juliane at Modern Mural - Loving that outfit! It looks like you’re having a blast. All the colors, all the possibilities for crafts and artworks for the wall and for that amazing space: so great!

lauren - seeing your pics makes me smile a different smile now that i’ve been there in person….it’s a smile of knowing that the pictures truly don’t do the EXPERIENCE and the fellowship with such great PEOPLE justice – and that 12+ more ladies are about to have their minds (and hearts) blown wide open!
ENJOY THIS WEEKEND sweet meg & kimberlee!

Have a great craft weekend!

Melissa - My mom aunt cousins and I so need to come to a craft weekend!

Leadia Jarvis - I want to come back. Need a helper?
Looks like you are geared up for a good time.
I gave up dairy and grains a long time ago, but Cocoa Pebbles and Capt’n Crunch were my late night vices 🙂

tiffany gardner - one day…
and hey… you will be running through my neighborhood for that marathon! my kids run in the kids marathon every year. I will be cheering you and my brother on for the race. Yay for you!!!!!!!

Sarah{Handbags*N*Pigtails} - I think I drooled the first time I saw that mint dotted shirt in the store. But then when the only size left they has was XS I wanted to cry.
And as for the Ninja? Yet more tears. It was on my Christmas list this year. But I’m still using a blender that’s cracked to make our daily smoothies in.
Oh well. Life is good-even without polka dots and Ninjas:)

beki - Ah, so fun!! I wish I was there 🙂

Gale - I looked and this and realized I’ll be there in about 24 hours!! I’m so excited to have been chosen – and terrified at the same time.. LOL And since I still have no idea what I’ll wear, I’m glad I got to see your clothes – and now I still don’t know what to pack! Good thing I have tomorrow off to get ready and go shopping!! 🙂 I wish everyone could come – but I guess doing it every weekend might get kinda old for ya’ll! So excited!!!!

Aby Gittings - Oh my. I sooooo wanna come to Craft Weekend. Sigh.

and all of these trees are in my yard.
today is a beautiful fall day.
i am really irritated that i didn't go for a run this morning.
it was windy then.
but perfect now…too bad there are a bunch of kids here…six total.
and so noisy.
i could use a run right now.
or an escape of any kind….anyone need me to go to the dentist for them….the obgyn… clean your bathrooms.
i will be there.

it's been a long week.
i am thankful it's friday.
big time.
what are you doing tonight?
give me some ideas….so i don't go crazy (since i didn't run and my nerves are shot.)

Sarah - Thank you so much for posting this. This is indeed a lovely pictures. I do love Fall it is actually my favorite time to have my teeth clean at the dentists ottawa in time for the holiday season. Thanks again for posting this!

Jessica - I love seeing all of your lovely fall photos. It’s my favorite season and you capture Kansas fall perfectly. I was born and raised in Ottawa, KS, but moved away a few years ago when I married a Marine. Thank you for posting the beauty of Kansas that I miss so much!

mary beth - I am with you …I can’t get enough of the fall color! each one I see is more beautiful than the last! hope you got a chance to recharge over the weekend, windy Monday is here!

Sarah - The view down the road in front of your house is so peaceful. Love it. I should have read your blog yesterday when I was feeling the same way you were, then I would have known I wasn’t alone.

April R - Jack Johnson 🙂

Ana - Seriously. You always inspire me to go take pictures of so much natural beauty outside. So, I went in my backyard with my Nikon. Sadly, I couldn’t find a single change in leaf color. =) Great pictures!

jennyonthespot - I love Fall. My favorite time of year… Wouldn’t it be fun to go for a run together? I soooo know what you mean about needing to go for a run… I hear that… <3

Jennifer - Well, I straightened up the kitchen kissed my kids and husband goodbye, Scooped up Dear Daughter off of the bus and headed out to teach my 5:45 healing yoga class:) Came home and my husband had dogs on the grill and a beautiful cucumber tomato avo salad on the side:) I gave him a big kiss and relaxed vegging out in front of fb and tv. Next time leave the kids with one of the older kiddo’s in charge and go for a run or take in a relaxing yoga class 😉

tinaehb3 - lol…love the the appt. offer 🙂

Grace - Ohhh! Thank you … 🙂
I left definitively Boston 2 months ago for France (my country), and I was so sad to miss the autumn foliage… Very sad. I usually love going out just to take pictures around.
So, once again, thank you very much. You made my day very happy.

Leah - Just watched “About a Boy” and was reading blogs and getting crafty ideas.

Kate - Watching Sabrina and flipping back and forth between that and Sleepless in Seattle

Mary - awww man!
today was nuts.
our leaves are LOOOOONG gone, but they sure were great when they lasted.
hope you get some ALONE time this weekend.
i had a fit today because my plans for the weekend were foiled do to impromptu babysitting for my dear friends. i got over it, because life isn’t all about me, but i sure hope to get a FEW quiet moments to myself…and i sure hope they involve coffee! 🙂
xoxo

beth - home made pizza and movies here too. that’s how you’ll find us spending our friday nights, unless something else comes up. usually works out well, since hockey, soccer and dance are on the other weeknights and the rest of the weekend. i find it’s the perfect way to unwind with the peep’s after a long week. while the crust was rising we took a family walk on the train tracks that run along side the lake where we live. it was a nice crisp fall day here on vancouver island, no rain, lot’s of fall colour on the trees, and a pretty sunset on the lake. your ahead in time than me, so hopefully your house has quieted down by now : )

Maria - A nice, quiet night at home for us tonight…homecooked dinner, followed by cider and donuts and a new tradition (ala Nienie) of watching the legend of sleepy hollow with the boys…a perfect October night!

Routhie - Not going to lie: A little tipsy from some beers and full from decent bbq (I’m a Texan living up north, so it’s slim pickins), kids are playing with neighbors, I just talked to my mom for 30 mins about one of my brothers, making lists about what needs to be done instead of just getting things done, brainstorming about a bday present for party on Sunday, and burning incense because there is a funky smell in my bathroom because, according to the plumber, a vent on top of our house is clogged. Oh, and I am sad about Big Tex.

KirstenP - Here’s something completely different: go to ancestry.com and sign up for
a free 2 week trial and then start doing a genealogy search of grandparents. You’ll probably find some info in census records. Have a happy fall weekend with lots of color!

happygirl - All these pics are about light. Ever since you said photography was all about light I can see it in the images. Now if I could find the light in my lens.

Valerie @ Chateau a La Mode - You are so funny! Scrambled eggs for dinner and we are going to watch Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer!? Hmmm not quite sure I’m going to like that. Just a wild and crazy night here in my house.

tiffany kraght - assuming you watch the x factor, you could just re-watch the two episodes that were on last week over again because they were soooo good. especially the two 13 year old girls at the end. amazing. i’ve watched both episodes twice!!! are you watching??? you totally should. my kids think i’m going crazy with how much i love those girls. i’m just super jealous i wasn’t blessed with a good singing voice!!

Molly - we are eating homemade pizza and watching movies. these plans were made entirely by my hubby. reason #509 why i love him:)

shauna - stop with the leaves you brat

Heidi Jo the Artist - Love fall and all the photos of the oak leaves. My favorite tree lately. We are going to watch a movie shortly, just the kids and I until hubby gets home from work. We try to do that a couple of times a month, and will probably do that each week this winter. Where mom (me!), actually watches the whole thing without doing anything else during the movie, a tough feet for this busy hands.
I’d say pop in a movie, or do something crafty with the kiddos and then when your hubby gets home, go for that run or even a walk? I almost didn’t run last night and so glad I did even though it wasn’t my best run.

Amanda - Driving 4 girls and meeting 11 more to dinner, Cotillion, then back again. Can Totally relate to wanting to do something else, ha! I woke up this morning and my hubby asked me why I kept turning off the alarm. “I have to do boring things today. I do not want to get up.” Us mamas are tired on Fridays and frequently, it’s a busy night!
Your photos are really great, thanks for posting those!
Amanda

jackie grandy - Hi Meg! I feel your pain today. Friday’s are supposed to by my days off to play. I usually hike or have lunch with a girlfriend, but I had so much catch up work to do today (house chores) that I ended up doing chores like vacuuming the beds, washing and changing sheets and endless piles of laundry. BORING! I use to be able to take a day off from laundry, but as my kids get older there’s just more laundry to do.
I also cooked up a bunch of stuff to get ready for our crazy weekend, so I’m taking the night off from cooking and we’re headed out to our favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner. I’m going to have me a tall glass of wine! Now, I just have to go and pick up my kids from school!

Tiffany - Wine, get some, it’s relaxing. Sewing too.

Amy Huff - Grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s then snuggling in bed with hubby after baby goes to bed and watching Revolution and Grimm on the dvr.

Donna - Dave Matthews Band!

shannon - We are having a movie night, Winnie the Pooh 😉 I’m sure that movie might not work for your kids though. It’s always an easy way to transition into the weekend around here.

Donna - hi meg. i feel your pain – i have 6 girls in my house right now – i think if i closed my eyes i would think i was at a justin bieber concert right now. i too would take a pelvic exam in exchange……….well maybe NOT. My husband and I were going to get a bite to eat tonight, but now I think I am stuck home with Little Caesars pizza, screaming girls and justin bieber!!!! I think I will lock myself away in my bedroom and organize my jewelry – my inspiration comes from Paige: http://paigeknudsen.com/

Jen - P.S. Also just downloaded my first EVER iTunes. Yep, helllllo 2012! Blues Traveler Run Around was my first song. Looking for tunes to play in the background when my girlfriends come over for dinner. Suggestions?

Jen - Beautiful pictures, Meg! Thank you!
Here in Ohio, it’s chilly and raining. My girls and I just crafted some Halloween cards a la Pinterest. Now I need to get off my rear and make chili and cornbread. After dinner, girls, hubby, and me are going to snuggle up and watch Madagaskar 3. TGIF!

Alicia @ La Famille - beautiful pictures! wouldn’t it be sad to live where there was only one season? hope you have a good weekend and get some quiet for a few 🙂

Lachalle - hired a baby sitter for my kidlets and heading out to supper with hubby and before we head home maybe just a walk together . Then home and hopefully she gets everyone in bed before we get home . Wishful thinking there I am sure.
~L~

Lori Tacchino - Lovely photos, Meg! Great job capturing the light. We are still waiting for fall to arrive in Cali. Can’t wait-its supposed to be here next week

keri - forever folding laundry - I’m hosting a sleepover for 10 boys (+ Avery) tomorrow.
Still wanna trade?

Leadia Jarvis - the colors are so gorgeous that it makes me laugh on those (many) days when I feel so “gray” on the inside! Trying to motivate myself to get to the 6:00 Crossfit class or I will be Mt. Vesuvius by 8:00. Last night we had a floor picnic/family movie night. We turned off all the lights, I gave them treats…90 minutes of relative peace. I download Kindle books onto my iPhone so I can snuck in some reading during the movie. That, and Words with Friends. (Do you play that or Draw Something? Both are mindless distractions!)

JennD - Waiting to head home from work and hibernate! The kids have a day off of school and we are having a huge snow storm.
(I am very jealous of youe beautiful fall pictures, looks like winter is here aleady for us…)

Sara Torbett - Watching Project Runway, bath or long shower, crafting. Plus lighting a fall candle and leisurely drinking some decaf coffee. 🙂 I’m a mama to a busy 16-month old and 8 months pregnant. Friday nights are the one night for me! 🙂

Amber - I made a pandora station today based on Mumford & Sons and I laughed out loud thinking of you when Phillip Phillips Home was the second song. http://www.pandora.com/stations/share/1091640507528120005
You’re welcome. 🙂

Michelle - I would love to read “The Message”, but when I searched for it, there were tons of books by that title. Who wrote the book you are referring to?

Flower Patch Farmgirl - I thought that Old Navy return was a bag of DRIED BEANS at first. And I thought, For the Love of Pete, Lady!
haha.
You were making me feel good about the state of my purse, with your bag of beans.

Adrienne - My gum is always all over my purse too 😉 looks like y’all are having fun!!

Brooke - Do you know what I like about you? You dont’ try to show everyone how cute and organized your purse is…..or you don’t lay it all out in order. You just keep it real. Thanks for that. I am not going to lie, I want my swag and every other month’s swag at craft weekend. I guess that means I should work for you…so i get one of each swag. Oh man, i wish I had some talent to bring to the CW team. I don’t.
Hope you have an awesome time this weekend!!

mama lola - hope you’re switching sides when carrying your purse!!! how do you fit all of that in your purdy blue bag?
happy crafting!

Trudy - I want to come to craft weekend just to absorb all the good, colorful vibes! And please know you ARE a blessing to so many!
You need to check out the First Friday in Kansas City next month. All the vintage shops downtown (West Bottoms by Kemper) get together and have their shops and flea markets open at the same time. Not only do they have some way cool stuff to buy (I snagged a super shabby chic chandelier!) the inspiration is amazing!

Karen Gerstenberger - Have a wonderful time at CW!

Carrie - Courtney (and sally, below), she talked about it when they first moved. Look in the archives at the end of February and early March.

Su@TheIntentionalHome - I want those hoops and I want that print too. And I am trying to figure out how to wrap fabric around the outer loop???

Jennifer Davis Wood - I had and have the biggest crush on Phillip Phillips and you just reminded me of it! Got to go look up some Phil youtube now:)

Jill - Have you ever had the Peanut Butter and Jelly M&Ms? They are AH-mazing. They are special limited edition…so anytime I see them on the shelf, I stock up. And then hide them so I don’t have to share. 🙂

Southern Gal - We watch AI so we have definitely heard the song and love it. In fact, my son made me play it again today. I say “made me” because he loves it too much and played it so much I banned it for a while. (Then all he did was sing it, especially the ahh-ahh-ahh parts, so I lifted the ban. ;))
I love reading about Craft Weekend.

Courtney - This is all beautiful, but I checked back today because I was curious as to whether you were going to answer as to why your family is living in the rental? I assume this was a business decision to keep your home set up for craft weekends? It is confusing to some who may have missed an explanation somewhere along the way.

sally - So wondering if you are going to explain what is going on with your house situation? No offense, but it is starting to seem odd that your family lives in a cramped rental with one bath while you reserve your beautiful home for down time and craft weekends. Are we missing something?

ko. s - I love your posts! Especially when they are filled with so much random goodness! That’s a lot of stuff in your purse lady! I was at a women’s tea last weekend and we were asked to decorate a hat with whatever was in our purses, lo and behold I had a toy gun in my purse! I was the envy of every table! Ha! On a different topic I’m so glad to see you run in what my hubby calls fashion sunglasses! He thinks I’m nuts for doing it 🙂 Hope its a lovely weekend! Looking forward to seeing all the crafty goodness on IG!

Tiffany - I love so many things about you… but that purse? Oh my. I would die. Can I organize for you when I come for CW next month? 🙂

Tracy Fisher - Ever just had one of those days. Sprinkling outside. Crying inside. PMS? Hormones? Feeling left out of a group outing? Just hearing the words CRAFT WEEKEND cheered me up! I am signing up soon. I swear!! -tracy

mum of all trades - Finally the inside of a handbag that looks like mine! Whenever people show the contents of their bags, its always so clean and streamlined. Love the flowers for the craft house.

Maura - Do you make a double batch in your kitchen aid? I always do a 1 1/2 batch but have been afraid a double batch is too big?? I would love to make more cookies!

jackie grandy - I love all the color in this post from the awesome Hunter boots, to the craft wall and lastly to that amazing photo with the oodles of flowers and pumpkins. I love this time of year so much. The colors are so vibrant. Have a great craft weekend and enjoy the cheesecake. Feel proud of yourself that you ran in 30 degree weather! Just so you know, I wouldn’t be doing that! I’m a total wimp when it comes to cold weather.
xoxo,
Jackie

Jocelyn Pascall - Love the Hunter boots! Have a GREAT weekend!

christy - What a fun, happy post! Love all of the color! Thinking Craft Weekend needs to go on my life list.
Not that you asked me, but I think you should definitely add chickens to your life! We have 4 & they are fun, and silly & YES, they are fast! We let our free range in the yard (sometimes) & chasing them around to put them in the coop is hilarious fun. We have one “prodcution red”, one more peach & 2 that are black & white, but different from one another. They love to eat meal worms as a snack, they go NUTS!

Kimberly - Ever since I discovered Hunter boots I’ve wanted yellow pair! Love!!

Emily - Why is it that Orbitz gum NEVER stays in it’s pack once you open it!!??!! That purse looks like mine!

Megan - You are amazing, and I hope to come to craft weekend sometime!! I would love it.

Sierra - Oh man, I seriously laughed out loud when I saw what all was in your purse. 🙂 Isn’t it funny how much stuff we can cram into them? haha Also, that is a super happy backseat! 🙂 Hope you ladies all have a great weekend.

Wendy - … & the flowers … & gords … & yellow rubber boots too!

Wendy - Love your silly mood 🙂

Leah - Question for you: Is there some secret way to get Instagram photos to your blog? Right now I’m just manually saving them from Facebook or wherever I’m posting and then inserting to my blog. There must be a better way to do this!

april - LOVE LOVE LOVE the hunter boots and happy flowers…..I hope you have an amazing weekend girl! xoxo

Terrie - That has to be the happiest backseat ever!!
Have a wonderful time at Craft Weekend!
🙂

Gretchen - Love Home, the words just speak to me. It sounds crazy, but some songs do that. It also makes me think of my late husband, and the home we made together, and the one he is making for the day I get to see him again. I just love it. It is on repeat all the time. Have a great craft weekend!
