November Craft Weekend

it seems like a long time ago but just two weeks ago we had our last craft weekend of 2015.
it was a wonderful end to the year.

the house was all prepped and ready.
kimberlee had delicious food baking all day on friday.FullSizeRender 29IMG_7439 3IMG_7257 3IMG_7840IMG_8152IMG_8375IMG_9504
the fall weather was putting on a show in kansas that week.
IMG_8125IMG_8234
we love our wonderful sponsors!
I will share the details on their wonderful products very soon!

kimberlee made a wonderful dinner and i passed out the margaritas as soon as our guests arrived.
IMG_8237IMG_8238
we eat together and then as soon as we’re done we dive right into crafting!
because it’s CRAFT weekend!

IMG_8240IMG_8245
we always have ladies who sew for their very first time at CW.
it’s pretty special to get to be a par too that.
sewing is one of my favorite ways to create!
IMG_8376IMG_9524IMG_9499
i love to see the combinations at every single weekend.
I’ve never seen a duplicate after all these years!
they are each unique and sooooo pretty!
IMG_9520FullSizeRender 36
another yummy meal with Kimberlee before we headed out to antique the day away.

IMG_8301
this mug came home with me but the chicken statue did not.
the statue looks huge but it’s actually just a little bigger than an actual chicken.
i thought about it for quite awhile but then decided that in reality my chickens would just climb onto it and poop all over it.
and there is enough poop already.
no need to call more attention to it with a big statue.
IMG_8327IMG_8302
and HOW is this beeeeeautiful cabinet still there?!
it is literally giving me PAIN to see it there and not be able to bring to my house.
i love that thing.
IMG_8292
hmmm…. this was… interesting?
IMG_8294
chris and i found our christmas sweaters!!!
can you even believe i found a rainbow sequined christmas sweater?!

IMG_8313
those three ladies met on the internet!!
i love that.
IMG_8291
IMG_8319
i love those cute scarves!!

IMG_8320
i’m not sure what to say about this… ha ha ha!
i guess you really can find anything you might need at The Mill.IMG_9515IMG_9501
Mary works at Bearly Makin’ It – my favorite antique shop.
she is a funny lady and everyone loves to hear her stories.
IMG_9518FullSizeRender 32FullSizeRender 33IMG_8361
we made super cute felt pillow covers with felt from Benzie Designs.
the pillow tutorial was from A Beautiful Mess.  i love their awesome ideas!

IMG_9525IMG_9500
saturday night is my favorite of CW because everyone is over their nervousness of getting there… they’ve made new friends and they are in their creative groove.  Everyone is so happy to sit and create for hours.  THE BEST!!

IMG_8357
Julie taught us the cheater way to make hand lettered signs.
BRILLIANT!

May Craft Weekend

BLOGstripRNBW1000i was excited to get this Craft Weekend going because i was missing craft time!
i’m always happy to be with Kimberlee again and our two friends Tara & Amy came to help too!
the time just flies by much too quickly…no one is ever ready for sunday to come at CW.

very randomly this group was almost all midwesterners!
we only had one guest fly in – that is the opposite of most CWs.

IMG_1134IMG_6196IMG_5246
we got the house ready room by room…
IMG_1374
did you know the Craft House has rainbow stairs now?!!

kimberlee served us a delicious meal and then we got right into making ruffled aprons!
i always love to see their color combinations!
i really enjoy helping women learn to sew for the first time.
the talk around the table always turns to their mother’s or their grandmother’s sewing skills too.
sewing with a room full of women is just FUN!
IMG_5340IMG_5341IMG_6203IMG_6188IMG_6194
kimberlee served us chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting with a chocolate ganache on top.
you guys… i mean… A M A Z I N G!!!

IMG_6187IMG_1207every apron is adorable like they always are!
IMG_1200
seriously just the best combos!
i can never get enough pattern and color mixing!IMG_1203IMG_6199
saturday we had a yummy breakfast before we headed out to antique.
kimberlee’s frosting gets me every time!

the weather was beautiful and we were able to eat outside at the Mill.
those are my favorite shopping days… sunshine, antiques and a homemade salad!

how creepy is that painting?!!!
IMG_5382lots of fun treasure were found… loved the old sewing machine and Lard Cans.
IMG_5385IMG_6185FullSizeRender-24IMG_5420

saturday evening we make three or four different crafts at once.
tara led a project that was really fun using magazines & mod podge on wood!
it’s always fun seeing everyone make it their own.
taraIMG_6205IMG_6182tara2tara6IMG_6195
we keep making the cuff bracelets because
#1  they look super cool.
#2  we have all the supplies
#3  it is a fun skill to teach and learn!tara3IMG_5428FullSizeRender-21IMG_5492FullSizeRender-22IMG_6193
the scraps are too hard to look through in their baskets so it’s just easier to dump them out.
🙂

a VERY fun new project we made was this adorable Rainbow Chalk Board Wreath that came all together in a CUTE kit provided by Britni at Giggle This Studios.
the kit comes with the chalkboard backing, the wreath form, fabric, chalk pencil, chalk, ribbon to hang the wreath and a set of examples of chalk art to choose from to trace and create your greeting in chalk AND a fast motion video tutorial on how to put it together

everyone had a really fun time putting these together!
Britni you made it very easy to create an awesome wreath – THANK YOU!

we thought they would make great gifts too!
if you have a crafty friend who is having a birthday coming up… ship this to her!

if you want to make one for your house you can order HERE.
You can use the code WreathKit10 for a 10% discount too!

YAY!!!

IMG_5445IMG_5439IMG_5431IMG_5432IMG_5447
i like that you can change the message!
“Happy Birthday” when you are having a party… “SUMMER” on the last day of school… baby name when you bring home a new baby!
the chalkboard is rad!

some of our guests added extra ribbon or fabric scraps to make it unique to their style.  🙂

all of these women have great stories and i loved getting to know them.
IMG_1205IMG_1201IMG_1194
this group of five was our biggest group to come together yet.
what a fun car ride that must have been!
IMG_1208IMG_5406
tara, kimberlee and amy make me laugh and laugh.
i enjoy them each so much.

IMG_5393IMG_6200
everyone’s least favorite part of the weekend is the 30 seconds they have to get their picture taken.
🙂

but i love seeing everyone in a brady bunch collage framed up forever in my memory.

mayCWcollageIMG_1193
thanks ladies for an awesome weekend!
i hope you left feeling pampered, creative, refreshed and that you went home and crafted your hearts out!
because that’s what Craft Weekend is all about!

if YOU would like to come a Craft Weekend like this… first read THIS post

then Click Here to be put on the Wait List.
we use a lottery system to select our spots so you never know how quickly you could get picked.
but you won’t get picked at all if you aren’t on the list.  🙂

BLOGstripRNBW1000

Liz - I just signed up for the wait list and I have read your post about craft weekend questions, but I have a question that I can’t find the answer to. What if you have food allergies? Do you accomodate or should one be expected to bring/buy your own food? I am sensitive to gluten and I noticed that almost every meal had a wheat flour base.

Thanks!

Pam - I love your outfit in the group pic. Where are your jeans from? You look fantastic!

sharon / theprincipledtype.blogspot.com - what a dream. as usual!

Jenny B. - Oh the rainbow stairs!!! Pictures of the craft house just make me happy. Sigh… 🙂 But, um… what is up with that super creepy clown painting?? Yikes!

Elizabeth - LOVE LOVE LOVE the rainbow stairs!!!!

Tara - #hashtagsforever #rainbowlove #succulentsareforgiving #natgeo #spacehaha

jaime - three things.
you & kimberlee do good work. your new wavy hairstyle is hawwwt.
it felt like a little piece of my heart was crafting right there with you girls when i saw the NY mug.
thats all.
the end.
xo

Kristin S - I can’t even. Love this so!

meredith - Hi Meg! Where’d you get your jeans?!

Jennifer - Is that Smitten Kitchen’s chocolate peanut butter cake that Kimberlee made? I tried to make it once and it was a delicious but horrible mess… https://howtosavethekosmos.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/i-tried-to-make-this-beautiful-cake/ I am attempting it again beautifully for my 30th birthday at the end of the month.

Melia - You should print out the collages from each craft wknd and make a collage wall at the craft house!

Julie - I adore your craft weekend posts, the colour, the crafts, the food – it all looks like such an amazing time is had by all.
LOVE those new stairs too!!!

Megan - Will you post some details (like the paint colors) for your rainbow stairs??? I have a back staircase that I want to attempt repainting them in the upcoming weeks. I would so appreciate your advice.

BTW….I am still on your waiting list….and cannot wait until my name gets picked. Meanwhile, I absolutely love reading all about the weekends…each one seems to have something fun and special that makes is different from the one before it!!

i like meeting all these women each year.
Craft Weekend makes for some great friends!

there was major EPIC swag in february too!
the post about each one is coming later week filled with discounts.

IMG_2012
this is the “christmas morning” part of CW…opening all the swag.
we go over each item sent and talk about the fabulous companies that sent them.

and then we get down to business.
friday night is for new friends, margaritas and ruffle aprons!
IMG_2048IMG_2054IMG_2056IMG_2051
so many decisions to make… fabric patterns and colors and the ribbon… full or a half apron… what other details to add… what time to stop and go to bed… how to sew for the first time (for some).
it’s a big project that takes much longer than it seems like it would.

kimberlee makes the dessert while we are apron making just after dinner.
like… starts and makes the whole thing right there!
what a gift she is to all of us.
having someone bring you a plate of warm bread pudding just out of the oven… covered in carmel sauce… while you craft is probably in my top ten good things about life.  HA!
this dessert is to die for!

we were sure that saturday would be freezing but it turned out to be blue skies and sunny!
which made shopping at Bearly Makin’ It and the Mill so much more enjoyable!
i always like to see piles of old things whether it’s locks & sanders or green dishes, potato mashers or scoops.

i liked the silver toaster on the second from the bottom… the salt was a piece of white bread and the pepper was dark bread.

several of these metal gold letters came home with me.
i spelled out  c r a f t  and  f u n.
dianna got M e a t.

there was show-and-tell when we got back.
i love seeing what caught people’s eye.
and it’s sweet how everyone says “ohhhh this is cool! who got this?”
or “i never saw this! i LOVE it!”
IMG_2105IMG_2109
we get right back to crafting on saturday night.
keri taught us how to make string & nail art.
not a quiet craft… but a really fun project!

IMG_2134securedownload-6
stephanie didn’t want sarah to go home with out her cuff completed so she finished it quickly for her.
new friends are awesome.

we made pillow shams too!
we cut circles from scrap fabric and sewed them down in a line on the front side of a pillow.

it was so fun to have friends from near and far!
kimberlee made us such great food all weekend & takes care of all kinds of details.
our helpers keep so busy cleaning up and making sure everyone has what they need.
this month they even fixed a toilet!?!
you never know what might happen at Craft Weekend.

wishing we were still crafting together girls!
thank you for letting me have the world’s most awesome job!

if YOU would like to come a Craft Weekend someday…  all the information is HERE.
there is a reeeeeeeally long waiting list but we use a lottery system to pick so everyone has the same chance to get in.
but you will never get a chance if you don’t get on the list.  🙂

Also… you and your friends can reserve The Craft House for your own weekend getaway!
All the details on using the house with your friends is HERE.
it’s perfect for a church group… quilting/sewing groups…. crafters… or just a girls getaway.

Susanne - A craft weekend may be added to my bucket list – and I don’t even know how to sew – but you make it look like SO MUCH FUN! (I sewed in home ec once – I made a pair of kids pajamas. I got a C- because she knew I tried really hard.)

Tracey - Would you please, please tell me where you found the nesting doll fabric?

Amy Woods - Swoon. Just swoon.

I’m on the waitlist…but, I’m such an introvert, I’ll probably back out if I ever get picked. I hope I don’t though..back out that is! 😉

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - Hey beautiful girls! So awesome. Miss you guys. Especially Kim-Burly’s desserts.

leslie - Hi Meg-

Can you do a quick rundown of how you make the name badges. The obvious part is cut scraps and quick stitch together. What I want to know is- do you use a special ink, and does it bleed when wet? Do you stiffen the back and how do you attach the pin (hot glue? hand stitching?). Just curious, they are adorable. Thanks!

Renice - Even before I read which salt and pepper shaker you liked, I was looking for the little toaster. My grandma had a salt and pepper collection and the little silver toaster with white and black slices of bread was always my favorite. Before she died she asked me if I wanted to pick one and that’s the one I picked. I just love it! I noticed a few others she had too. I’d love to search through those antique stores you have there. They look like so much fun!

Pam - I would love to make those aprons with my girl scout troop. Would you email me the measurements for the ruffles, and do you use a premade apron to start with?

thanks a million
pam creech
pea ridge, AR
Troop 5780

tiffany day - So fun! I am on the list and keep trusting/hoping that when my name is picked I will be able to go – it will be perfect timing!

But just so you know, I would LOVE – LOVE – LOVE to come as a helper for sure! I have NEVER used a sowing machine – i know! I am willing to try/learn but honestly – I have a heart to help, no matter where I am – so being a helper at a Craft Weekend would be SO great! Just sayin’ 🙂

also, for the shopping at the flea market – are there arrangements to ship your stuff home?? I would so over buy and not be able to bring it all back in my suitcase!

Love your blog – your IG and well you! So glad I found you on the “internets” 😉

craft weekend 2015

our 10 week break seemed to fly by like breaks usually do.
but with Craft Weekend being my job it’s pretty easy to enjoy getting going again.

we had another sweet group who were so nice to spend the weekend with!
i love meeting all these new friends.
they always ask me “is it so weird for you to have people know so much about you?”
🙂
i answer “no… i actually like it because the pressure is off for me.  you already know all my stuff and you chose to come anyway so i know we will be friends!  it makes the nervousness go away for me completely.  i love it!”

IMG_2350
our routine to get the house ready…. light the candles…. open the curtains… turn on the lamps…. turn on the music… make the margaritas.
it’s a the perfect equation for welcoming guests.
(but really i think it’s all about the margaritas… recipe HERE)

FullSizeRender-3FullSizeRenderIMG_2394IMG_2328IMG_1079IMG_2479IMG_1093IMG_1090IMG_2398IMG_2397
on friday night we eat dinner and then we head straight for the swag!
we have SUPER sponsors that i will tell you all about in the next post.
after we talk about our sponsors and oohhhh and aahhh over everything they send, we start right on the aprons.
we don’t mess around.
no time to waste.

I love friday nights while they sew their aprons.
some of them are sewing for the very first time in their life!
they learn new things… they make new friends… they eat dessert… it’s so fun.IMG_2396IMG_1115FullSizeRender-2 copy 3FullSizeRender-2 copyFullSizeRender-2
i loved this collage that Jill made on her Instagram – SO SUNNY!

IMG_1117
FullSizeRender-2 copy 2every plate at craft weekend looks like this – completely empty.
i can’t tell you enough how well we eat!

IMG_0098IMG_2378
one of our projects was this pillow made from felt triangles.
i used this tutorial on ABeautifulMess.com and we used the fabulous Benzie Design felt for all of it.
some of the girls switched up the design which i loved because they were making it their own.
i am always happy to watch where they take the projects.
it’s always fine to make the exact copy of the example but it’s so cool to watch where everyone’s creativity take them.

IMG_2331IMG_2620IMG_2242FullSizeRender-2 copy 5IMG_2415
we had slightly chilly weather to head over to Bearly Making It Antiques and The Old Mill.
i always find the colorful things… orange sewing machine… yellow pencil sharpener… and even yellow livestock fly spray? yuck.
bearlyIMG_2412
umm….this cabinet is A M A Z I N G.
i keep looking at it over and over!?!  it has cutting boards?!
IMG_2432

so many treasures were brought back to the Craft House!IMG_1112IMG_2444
no one thought they should bring any of these skulls with fur still attached back to the craft house though, thank goodness!
although… a little glitter.  a little yarn wrapping… some paint… you know we would make those RAD!
IMG_2449
i was jealous of Lola’s find of the WEST sign.
i really liked it!
IMG_2450IMG_2458IMG_1109
it was Sooooo WINDY!

how cool is that trunk that Kelly was eyeing?!
it’s an old ice box!

IMG_1092
kimberlee spoiled us again with delicious meals and snacks and desserts.
after we ate those beans i said “who knew green beans could taste good?!”
she makes it all yummy.
we even had personal chicken pot pies in jars!
adorable!
FullSizeRender-4 copyIMG_2492
we made the leather cuff bracelets with stamped metal tags.
everyone had a blast with this!
so many people asked on IG how to make these and where to get the supplies?
i ordered the metal stamps on amazon.
the belts are ALL from thrift shops.
the snaps, rivets and blanks are from hobby lobby and michaels.
then from there… google it and see if you can find a good tutorial.  🙂

it’s not difficult once you get over the fear of the hammer and the metal parts.

our helpers this Craft Weekend were Taryn – a friend i’ve had since 2nd grade
and Jami – an online friend that i met in real life on friday morning.
AND I LOVE THAT about Craft Weekend!
all my old and new friends all mixed together forever!  it is a gift from God to me!
our helpers are so great.
they work hard for these ladies and keep everything running smoothly!

i know everyone wants to be a CW helper… i get email after email after email about it.
but unfortunately… that’s not the way it works.  🙂

BethAnne - Some day… some day I will craft weekend! Unfortunately, I just can’t afford that expense any time soon. I hope that you ladies don’t quit doing this before the day comes that I can join you! (I’d be even more sad since it’s within driving distance from my home.)

It looks like you ladies had a fabulous time! My friends and I are having a girls weekend next month and I am most definitely going to be making your margarita recipe. 🙂

Janna - I WANT TO LIVE AT CRAFT HOUSE. THE. END.

Five on Friday - […] Keeping it super simple and going through 5 of my favorite swag items we got at Craft Weekend! […]

Barbara (WA) - Meg – what always strikes me the most when I read your blog are your photographs of COLOR, bright, happy color. Thank you.

Kelsey - *Make that FLOUR lol

Kelsey - My grandma had one of those cabinets! It’s a baker’s table, and the big bucket=style drawers underneath are for sugar and flower. LOVE!

Jenny B. - Can Kimberlee share the green bean recipe? 🙂

Kori - The craft weekend post was fun to read, but what really grabbed my attention was your awesome navy polka-dot sweater! 🙂 So cute with the bigs and littles! Any chance you got it recently at a chain store?? *fingers crossed*

Chris - I just love your craft weekend posts. Wish we could have a big craft weekend reunion. And so funny that you mentioned all the emails you get about being a helper – as I was reading I was thinking, “I sure wish I could help at craft weekend”!

Katie P NC - can I place an order for that set of Jade-ite bowls that are sitting on the hutch at the antiques place? Please dear sweet loving readers pick that up and mail it to me, or call me so I can pay over the phone and have those shipped! I broke my beloved bowl that belonged to my grandmother and have searched high and low for them. Only to find them costing ten million dollars. 🙁

Su - what did y’all make with the yarn? pom poms? speaking of yarn, I got some pom pom makers in my stocking (to me from me) and I am addicted to making pom poms. . .so fun, so easy. . all the kids can make them too. . .we actually decorated a friends wedding with gray and yellow pom poms. . glued them to branches and stuck in mason jars and made pom pom garlands. . .i’ll have to post pics on my blog and send you the link. . .it was so eclectic and fun! so thanks for recommending those clover pom pom makers 🙂

Lola - LOVE this post Meg! Thank you so much for opening up your heart and craft home with all of us! It was a magical weekend and I wish it could happen at least once a month! Missing you ALL and trying to have a look at everyone’s blogs and online presence to keep in touch! Hugs!!!

Julie - Such a fun colourful weekend. I always want to try a Margarita after seeing your CW posts. One day I will.

november craft weekend

the craft house looks its very best 10 minutes before the guests arrive.
we light all the candles.  we turn on all the lights.  we open all the curtains.
music is playing.
everything is clean and sparkly.
and kimberlee and i are making the margaritas!

IMG_3490IMG_3505IMG_3496IMG_3498IMG_3504IMG_3467IMG_3466IMG_3464IMG_3463IMG_3470IMG_3472IMG_3469IMG_3473IMG_3474IMG_3475IMG_3478IMG_3485IMG_3489IMG_3548IMG_3885IMG_3914IMG_3915IMG_3886
the guests arrived… nervously met each other… ate a delicious meal and then we get busy ruffling!
they chose the fabrics and ribbons.
they sewed into the night.
they are always so excited about what they’ve made… which makes ME excited too!
IMG_3558IMG_3554IMG_3552IMG_3560IMG_3566IMG_3594

while we were shopping i told myself i didn’t need anything and wasn’t spending any money.
but then i started pulling out quilts i’d never seen before at Bearly Makin’ It.
and i was starting to feel my will power giving in.
but thankfully these girls stepped up and bought all the things i wanted so i could stay strong.
isn’t that orange quilt the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?!

my breaking point is usually when i see something very unique that i love.
because i know i may never see anything like it again.
and that vintage wedding ring quilt in ORANGE? i bet that was once in a lifetime.

IMG_3593IMG_3592IMG_3590
and a rainbow quilt?!
it was a tough day for me!

IMG_3595IMG_3600IMG_3603
i like to take pictures like this in the barn because when i am in the barn i feel like there is so much and i miss great stuff.  so when i take a picture i can go back “shop” again.  like… i never noticed the stool in front of the desk… the middle table with the cradle on top… or the round table behind the desk!

IMG_3604IMG_3616
this green desk.
this was my dreamy idea i had out in the field… a nursery or flower shop should use this for display!
or i should put it in MY flower bed (if i had one…) for more pots to create another level.
OR anthropologie should use it for stacking 2507 dishes on and make a hand written price tag of $3913.00
ha ha ha
bottom line: this rusty desk is awesome.

IMG_3619IMG_3610
i died a little when i saw this.
sad sad sad.
i appreciate my electric sewing machines 1000% but this hurts my heart.
IMG_3623IGpics
after shopping and eating and a little resting it is straight back to crafting!
IMG_3641IMG_3637IMG_3629
ashley taught us how to make leather cuff bracelets from old belts!
oh my goodness.
this was a total blast!
i found all different metal stamp sets on amazon…
Lowercase Alphabet 6mm
Lowercase Alphabet Set – 3mm
36-Piece Letter &Number Set 6mm
4mm Letter & Number Stamp Set
Metal Block
Revolving Leather Hole Punch Tool

and all the other supplies you can find at a craft store.
it takes a little while to get the hang of it and it is loud but it was SO much fun!

(my friends joyce & arnie found THE MOTHER LOAD of belts making this project possible!! YAY!!)

IMG_3635IMG_3655
i am certainly no expert at stamping but it is too fun to care!
my husband calls me mrs. duerksen.  🙂

IMG_3644

the girls made super cute wreaths with fabric scraps and benzie felt.
benzie felt is easy to work with and she has the best colors!IMG_3650IMG_3929IMG_9420IMG_9411IMG_9427
IMG_9430IMG_9416IMG_9414IMG_9412IMG_9408IMG_7439
julianna and ashley were our helpers this month.
it’s not an easy job!
there is not a lot of sleep.  there is not a lot of crafting.  and there are very very many dishes to wash.
but the food is amazing!
and new friends that you get to make… i think it’s worth it.  🙂

all three of these girls make me happy!
i just keep looking at those smiles and it makes me smile too.
IMG_9406
i always like to photograph the room mates!

IMG_9476IMG_9473IMG_9481facesNOVIMG_9470
what a super group this was!  they were joyful and silly and so kind!
it was the best kind of group to end 2014 Craft Weekends!
God knew just what kimberlee and i needed.

IMG_3676
these girls reminded me once again what a blessing this “job” is.
we get to give these women a break from their demanding lives, give them a pretty place to feel refreshed, feed them good food, remind them of their creative gifts and let them be themselves!
they go home inspired and ready to make things again.
sometimes they get teary when they are leaving because they’d forgotten how much they like to create.
our lives just get so busy and creativity takes a back seat to work, kids and lots of other things.  and sometimes it’s not even in the backseat anymore.  it has been put in the trunk under all the other junk and we forgot it was even there anymore!
but at Craft Weekend… Creativity is number one.
front seat all the way!
getting time to sit, have all the supplies you need and just M A K E is a big deal.
i am so grateful that you CW girls agree…. all of you that have come…. all of you on the wait list and all of you reading that encourage me.

THANK YOU!!

if you would like to come to a craft weekend….

1. read this informative post
2. send an email to get on the wait list (address is in that post)
3. wait patiently to get a chance to come
🙂   🙂   🙂   🙂   🙂   🙂   🙂

Crossfit Craft Night » ashleyannphotography.com - […] of my friends saw a wreath I made at Meg’s Whatever Craft Weekend and mentioned she would love to learn how to make it. And thus…a Crossfit Craft Night was […]

mandy - I hope you know how lucky you have it thrifting! A quilt like that here would cost about $200-. a ratty one not as cool would still be above 75-. And I saw that white cupboard in the background. ugh! I love Oregon but we sure don’t have the good, affordable antiques!

Lori R. - It was such a wonderful weekend. I don’t think I stopped talking about it, well…. I am still talking about it. When I was talking to my husband he commented that it was great to hear me talk about something with such passion in my voice. It was truly an inspiring time and the friendships made in such a unique way make it a lifetime memory. Thank you for bringing a bit of me back to me!

Laurel - I cannot wait to join you for the 1st Craft Weekend of 2015!!!!!!! #planestrainsautomobiles all the way from Ottawa, Canada!

Melissa - Always looks like so much fun!!!

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - I just love you. And miss you. that is all.

Leslie - I have a kinda random question- approximately how much money were the quilts being sold for? The reason I am asking is that I live in California (bay area), and finding a vintage quilt is SO rare, and SO expensive (hundreds of dollars in antique stores- and even the stained/super hole filled ones at the thrift stores can be over a hundred). I’m just wondering if they are more affordable in Kansas. Maybe I need to plan a trip one day?? Or save up some money and “Hire” you to buy and ship me a few?? 🙂

amy jupin - i loved this post.
and it made me ache a bit.
i miss y’all.
and i i’m definitely one of those that get teary when it’s over because i don’t make time to create.
and i need it!
it makes me happy.
so do you.
and kimberlee.
and cheesecake.

Mel - First: those cuff bracelets? Love at first sight. Please keep doing them forever so I get to make one someday.
Second: if I’ve never said this b fore I’m sure someone has – you should franchise and im not even kidding. This kind of community and rejuvenation is so needed for women.

Sami - So much goodness in this post. SO MUCH!!

heather m. - What a blessing you are to all these women simply by doing what HE put in your heart to do- be creative and share it!! I’m so inspired by you gals ♥

Barbara (WA) - It is all just magical. . . . .

Kate B. - You captured the weekend perfectly!! This weekend was the inspiration I needed and I am so grateful to all the amazing women I met! Keep up the great work, Meg and Kimberlee! You two are a gift to so many women! Can I get on the wait list again?!?! 🙂

Su - orange is my favorite color. . I melted when I saw that orange quilt. . . and those sewing machines. . all I could think of was when we were in Ethiopia those were the machines the men made clothes on. . one of our kids is adopted from Ethiopia. . .and he talks about his dad making clothes on the pedal machines. . made me sad to see them in that pic. . wish we could fix them all up and take them over to Ethiopia. I’ve been waiting for this post 🙂 Thanks.

Jen - LOVE the leather cuff bracelets! How cool are they?! Thank you for all of the color you bring to this earth. I love your colorful pictures! Have a wonderful day, Meg!

Kimberlee Jost - What an awesome 2014 it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now we rest.
🙂

Lorraine R. - I love looking at all of the pictures of your craft house and your whatever weekends. It all seems like a dream – that place is perfect and those weekends….what a gift!!

I covered my mouth when I saw those pretty old singers out in the yard, sad indeed!!

I don’t know how you don’t go broke living near such an incredible place to shop for treasures!!! I don’t think I would have any will power!!!!!

What a gift you give these mommas!! I love it!!

Kathy - How many times did I pass “Bearly Makin’ It” when I was serving a mission in Kansas?? Always wanting to stop, but I was on the Lord’s time and I knew it wouldn’t be right. So now that I’m back home (in Seattle) I totally want to come back and PLAY! Soon!

they were heavy duty!
the chalkboard paint was a big hit too.

IMG_9046
we made photo frames out of old books.
Amy from Amy J. Delightful taught us how to cover the books with fabric and cut the covers and pages to make a frame.
These were really fun!

IMG_9043photo 2
We made these SUPER CUTE garlands using Say Hello Shop’s wood banners and Felt Pom Poms from Benzie Handmade.
i love these!!!
we used chalkboard paint on one side of the banners and decoupaged fabric to the other side.
the felt pom poms make it so cheery!

i was really tempted by the farm bureau sign because i love my kansas sunflowers.
but it went home with someone else.
i am happy about that… i would hate to have left it there.
