go go going

we are headed out of town for spring break.

which requires so much work on my part…washing, packing, planning, last minute things.
but it will be worth it.
right?
it will won't it?
i am feeling doubtful at this moment.

i have no time to be blogging.
so i will leave you with this picture.

Nacho_jack2
it keeps popping up on my computer in a Netflix ad.
and it cracks me up every time.
that belly is hilarious.
i didn't see the movie…this picture is enough for me.

back to the LONG list.

i hope i will be able to peek in here while we are gone.
i really hope.
don't forget me….

Nancy - Hope you have a great spring break!
There are many jokes in our house from the nacho libre movie; most of them have something to do with “stretchy pants”.

liz - you must see the movie! “stretchy pants” are great!

Laura Phelps - I HATE the LONG LIST of things to do just to get a BREAK.
But you will get there
and we will be here
when you return
God Bless

Courtney - I’m sure you’ll be back to wowing us with some great documentation of your trip in no time… that post made the song
“don’t you forget about me”
get stuck in my head 🙂

robin bird - have a great out-of-town trip sweetie and no, of course we will not forget you…ever…ever.
xo

adrienneK - have a fun trip!!!!

Blanca - Hope you have a great time. By the way my kids love that movie. They know all the lines to it. It’s worth watching at least once.

Andrea @ Big Creek Cottage - Jack Black was so funny in this movie….Have a great vacation! Dont’ forget your camera!

Sara Neufeld - Nacho Libre is Awesome.
Hi Meg…I have been reading your blog for a few months now and am finally commenting! I LOVE your blog. Love your style. I also have wanted to thank you for sharing all your great crafts before the holidays. I had just had our 3rd baby boy and was feeling overwhelmed with Christmas gifts and also the need to do something crafty. I totally did the notebooks with all the fun ribbon and my boy’s teachers LOVED them! It was just the idea I needed, something easy, yet something that would make me feel “normal” again!
Thanks for being real on this blog…it’s refreshing. 🙂
Also, I’ve been wondering where in Kansas you were from (my in-laws all live in Inman) and then I saw the coffee shop for the Cora benefit is in Newton! How fun!
Anyhow, that was long-winded…but THANK YOU.

gina - Packing is a neccessary evil- Have fun.

My First Kitchen - I always need a vacation after my vacation. Maybe that’s why we never go anywhere. 🙂 And I haven’t Nacho Libre either, but my husband has. And from what I can tell, the picture pretty much says it all. Have a great spring break!

Johanna - nacho libre rocks!

Christina - Please, if you think Jack Black is remotely entertaining, see this movie, preferably with someone equally as silly as you are (wait, that was me). A ridiculous, but so-funny-you-might-wet-your-pants movie. Especially with a silly friend.
Have a great trip!

julie - You need to watch it!!!
Seriously.
For Easters. Which will make sense once you see it.
Go rent it.
Really.
Now.
Go.
Get it.
Go.

Diane - hahaha This movie is classified in the “sodumbitsfunny” catagory.
Have a great trip.

Beth - Have fun — I’ll miss your posts :)!

Staci - Oh Meg! We could never forget you!!! Didn’t see the movie either…but yep, agreed…the picture is good enough for me 😉 I hope you and family have a great trip! Have lots of fun 🙂

Jen N. - Have fun!

Julie K. - Sounds wonderful! I can’t wait to hear about all the humorous moments and see some of your fabulous photography from the getaway. Thanks too for including me on your “happy links” today! What an honor to be included in that. You would not believe the amount of traffic you have generated. You have quite a following!! We all await your safe return!
xo ~julie

sandy toe - have fun and relax…

Melanie - Have a good time on your spring break. I haven’t posted in a long time because I have been so busy but I still check your blog everytime you update. I have missed you:)
Have fun!

Kate - oh, Jack Black. seeing a photo of him without the costume on is funny. haha.
-kate

Karli - You MUST see this movie. It’s hilarious. Nacho Libre is my sons newest ‘superhero’. We even had a Nacho Libre Birthday Party for him. He got the entire costume handmade by his grandma. You can see it here:
http://annakarli.blogspot.com/2008/08/so-overdue.html

Kristi REDISKE - I found your website through the Cora website and I have really enjoyed it. You seem to be so thoughtful and caring to Coras family. I use to live in Newton so it was fun to look at the pics of your house. My mom still lives there so I visit alot-I am trying to figure out where your house is. I am in Arkansas and I live in a house built in 1900. I was wondering if you painted your woodwork or if it was already painted when you moved in. I love old houses. Well keep up the good work with ideas for Coras playground. Your great and you sure motivate me.

gina - How fabulous! This is so inspiring to see the goodness go on and on!

CherryTreeLane - You are awesome.

patti - well, if i didn’t live halfway across the country, i’d totally be there! i do feel really good that my husband has raised nearly $1400 for pediatric cancer research. he shaves his head tonight. we have listed cora as an honored child.

Alice - darn darn, i wish i lived closer, because i would so be there.

Becki - My first visit to your blog! I love the photos of your home. Reminds me how much I love colour! Thanks for sharing. Becki

Julia - I wish I could be there!!!

christine - Oh, how awesome!! Wish we could be there 🙂 I love how the community is continuing to support the Macs! God is awesome!

Laura Phelps - I would be there if I could! I am thinking about having a little fundraiser here, in L.A. I have my own small cake business, and thought it might be nice to have CAKES FOR CORA…a month dedicated to the playground, where all proceeds made will go directly to Jess and Joel. Wish I had done it this month, the month of her first birthday…but better late than never. I will keep everyone posted….

Holly Nickel - Thanks Meg!
We’ll be here until 11pm on Friday and I have fliers at the shop for anyone who wants them.
-Holly

Trish - how neat is that!!! wish i could come 🙂

carissa... brown eyed fox - more goodness… what love… what a group of people… what a blessing we have in our Father!!!!!
i would be thrilled to be able to be there!
the place will be beaming!

Lindsay - oh yeah, do you know how late they are open on Friday?

Lindsay - Megan, Do you know where we can get that flyer?

danyele - that is so awesome! i am still loving every single second of it! i did a giveaway yesterday with some coffee cozies from cora’s playground etsy dealy…great stuff! great, great stuff!!!

Wendy - How fabulous!!! I wish I lived closer!

sarah - PS. Julie is on the front page on Etsy right now with one of her shirts for Cora. How awesome is that!

sarah - It’s wonderful to see the love and compassion in your community!

adrienneK - newton? my mother and father and law live in newton!! (ill have to send them in my place teehee)

chas at the wild raspberry - where is this? Newton, as in Kansas?
chasity

Kameron - It is so wonderful how people are coming together for this cause. I took part in the etsy fundraising and it was amazing to see how mnay people joined in! I have a question for you. I made a flower shirt like you make for my neice and it was too small, now I’m stuck with it. Would you mind if I listed it on my etsy page?

jewels for cora

my friend amanda organized a very cool event to raise money for joel and jess.

it was called Jewels for Cora.
she used her premiere jewelry business to bring women together from our church and community
that all love the mcclenahan's.
all of amanda's profits went straight to joel and jess.

so….we had a jewelry party….but it was much much more.

IMG_4523
IMG_4529
IMG_4533
IMG_4540

we were blessed to hear stories of jess and joel before cora came in to their life.
i didn't know them then so this was very touching.
and hopeful.
to hear some stories of their dating and early marriage…
that joel is funny and jess is a wonderful wife.
i cried…
then we heard of the excitement of when cora was coming
and the fun that was had over the 11 months of her life.
i loved hearing those stories.

IMG_4549

10 women read 10 different comments recently left on the macs blog that talked of their strong faith
and how cora is changing lives all over the world.

IMG_4554

it was comforting to be in room full of women who all had the same heart for cora's parents….
broken….wishing it hadn't happened.

after the stories, we had a jewelry show….with models.

oh yes…I GOT TO BE MODEL!
i think i was "the old lady model"  but that's ok…i had on cute jewelry.  :)
(no photo…but it's the truth…i promise)

after the show it was time to shop.

i am looking forward to wearing my necklace.
(i got that turquoise one right in the middle of that table above.)
each time i put it on will be a beautiful reminder to pray for jess and joel.

amanda….great job pulling this night together.
i know you had tons of help but you got this all going and kept it so organized.

it was lovely.
you made it so special.

Sandy - Will Amanda let us place online orders to add to the jewels for Cora party? I am so jealous of you and all of your very cool women friends! Who knew Kansas was so cool?! (don’t take that the wrong way) 🙂

carissa... brown eyed fox - a place bursting with beautiful women inside & out!
wow !!!
so glad to be able to share… see… the pics!

princess lasertron - you live in such an amazing place

jackie chappell - how could you have had any idea that you would be moving to such a community ??
thank you for the brite spot you add to my day..
jackie from sunny florida…says thank you … =)

katy - Awesome! What a wonderful idea. You all did a great thing by getting together and doing this. Thank you for sharing.

traci - what a special event. how fun to be a jewelry mode. you wouldn’t have been the old lady model – crazy girl!!

kathy b - Thank you for sharing this event. Your photos captured the loving spiritof comfort that was obviously present.
2 Corinthians 1:4-7
Kathy b

shelia - What a wonderful idea and thanks for sharing. Its amazing what God’s people can do when we do what he wants..live in community and love each other. Thanks for the encouragement. What a lovely testimony!!!

Ashley - What a wonderful event. What wonderful friends! My family is continually praying for baby Cora’s family.

sandy toe - How wonderful….this family I am sure is blessed by everything.
sandy toe

Christy Lewis - That was such a wonderful idea! The story of Cora has touched me so deeply and I think and pray for her family everyday. I love reading your blog! You are such a wonderful and inspiring woman! Thank you for everything you do on your blog!

alyssa - It was a very nice evening. And I’m pretty sure you weren’t the ‘old’ model. I don’t think we are that far in age.

Lazy Mom Leslie - What a fantastic idea! It sounds like you live an in amazing community!

Sara - Thanks for sharing. I am always curious about how these things unfold when I read about them happening, and as usual, like with the etsy shop, your community is amazing. There is such love for Joel and Jess and it makes me feel less anxious for them. They will get through this with people like you surrounding them. It is still horrible and awful and I can’t imagine the pain, but they will get through it in time and with much love around them.

Laura Phelps - beautiful.
I live far from you all…and I don’t know any of you,really…
but I pray for Cora every day with my children
your friendship and faith is so inspiring

Karina - Thank you SO much for posting about this. I have been pacing the floors up here in Canada wondering and waiting…for what? I’m not sure…But after buying some pinafores on etsy to help raise money for the playground, then your announcement of the staggering sum raised, there has been a sense of void, almost disappointment that the collective effort did not restore sweet Cora to her parents’ arms.
I, too, am touched by the love and support in your community as I sit here feeling lonely in mine…there are many of us who admire from afar via the web, and have been inspired by recent events in Newton – if only it weren’t at such a terribly high price! Cora continues to reach far and wide, thanks to bloggers like you. I guess we now wait to see the playground built…

Tess S. - my heart is deeply touched by the kindness, and strength of your community. it’s beautiful.

Kate - Meg
I can’t tell you how much I Love your blog. I am an avid follower/fan. I can tell you are such a beautiful Christian woman/wife/mother/crafter/photographer. My husband says you are my BFF I’ve never met. There is an old big historic home we are hoping to buy from an older couple in this next year or two. And your home is absolutely stunning. We share the same taste. All of your pictures of your house have me so excited, dreaming and brainstorming for what I hope will be our “future home”. Thanks so much for sharing everything including your Christian Faith.
Your blog friend in South Cental KS, Kate

Heather - Each and every time I read your posts about events like this I am in complete awe over the women you know. How on earth did you get such an amazing circle of friends? You are truly, truly blessed.
Lately I have been feeling an immense void in this area of my life. It’s difficult to make new friends when you’re not in high school anymore. 😉

Jennifer - such a beautiful tribute….

susanne p. - that was amazing. what a sweet thing for the community to pull together for this family.

danyele - oh my goodness…what a great evening. it was honoring to joel, jess and cora and fun too…then there’s the fundraising! great idea. i love how many creative and heart warming things are continuing in honor of a great fam.

kasey - what a beautiful story.
xo

Kristin - Hello! I found your blog through Julie at Joyshope. Your photos are amazing and your pillows are adorable! I too, have been touched by Cora’s story even though I am all the way in California. I bought a bracelet from the etsy site and think of little Cora every time I wear it. This event looks amazing – wish I could have been there!

Starnes Fam - Things like this remind of how genuinely good people are. Out of tragedy, people are bonding, growing stronger, finding a new and refreshed love for those close to them. I must think God intends for us to do this.
Beautiful party and lovely post.

MMW - I thought it was amazing how help from blogland supported the Nie Nie Dialogues author. And now this is the next most amazing work God has blessed with via blogging and the internet. Praise Him! I cry with emotion love and gratitude each time I read about sweet baby Cora and all the love going into her memory. It really is witnessing, isn’t it?

Deputy's Wife - What a wonderful thing everyone is doing for this family.

very cool write up about the McClenahans.
and sending more people to the Cora Paige etsy items.

God is so BIG.

garage house plans - he Steens have also provide valuable information on earthen plasters, wall finishes, moisture, and ways to retrofit a home with straw bales in this delightful gem of a book.

Amy Warden - I can’t tell you how amazed I am at how far & wide Cora’s story has spread. There is a soaper friend of mine who has recently heard the story and is donating to the cause because it has touched her heart. I hope Jesus touches her heart as well. She needs him – bad.

LIana - That is awesome!
Any plans for anything for boys? Your designs are great (and I’ll order a pillow if I’m quick enough) but think a shirt with a truck or something would be too cute…in 3T…for my 16 month old. Hint hint…
Keep up the good work!

christine - Oh, I’m so excited about this!! I’ve been scratching my head this week trying to figure out what I could sell and finally listed something this morning – YAY! Kate Eschbach - You are still LOVE-ED!!!! Can’t wait to see, but take your time… ‘if you want to do things well, take your time go slowly!’

Ann - Hi Megan. I have thought many times about posting a comment, and I’m finally doing it! Your mom is such a dear friend to me, and I so enjoy your blog. My daughter, Emily, is a senior in high school and was looking at your photography. She would love for you to take her senior pictures this spring. Maybe a road trip to Newton for a photo shoot? Good luck getting your craft things listed on etsy. Ann

Staci - Good luck! We will always love you no matter how long it takes 🙂 My kids LOVE to play in Mac’s cage too 🙂

meredith - Like that poster “Keep Calm and Carry On”. You’ll get there. In the meantime, if it all gets too much, I’d be tempted to climb into the dog crate myself with a bunch of magazines and a thermos of coffee. If you throw a quilt over the crate, you could potentially have hours before the kids find you! Hope you have a happy day.

Christine - no need to freak out.
it will all get done, all in good time.
no one will think less of you if you
need extra time to get organized!
the fact that you are adding this to
your plate, doing this project,
is ALREADY great, and truly
inspiring.

angela - waiting patiently……….hope your day was not a disaster!!

Gini - Looking forward to the launch. In the meantime, I am laughing my butt off – Do you know how many pictures of my littlest one I have in the dog crate??? So funny.

Sue - I have pictures like that of my boys. They have big fat grins on their faces all the while being in the dog cage!!! Too funny!

Aubrey - are you going to name your etsy store after your blog? i think it would be perfect if you’re selling whatever floats your boat to make. but then you probably already have your own brilliant idea and i’m turning into my grandma, giving the unwanted two cents. 😉
