a favorite of mine….

this past weekend i got do something i love for someone i love.
that is a favorite of mine.
don't you enjoy doing something you love soooo much more when you get to bless someone else?!

my friend's son got married and my friends and i were honored to prepare and serve the rehearsal dinner.
we were the mother of the groom's friends….
you know…like at YOUR wedding when your mom's friends took a picture?
and you thought they looked old then?
yeah….that is ME now?!!!

surely we don't look as old our parents did????  ha ha ha

i love flowers.
i cut from the craft house, bought sunflowers at the grocery store & pulled over and cut wildflowers in the fields.
they came together so beautifully.

IMG_2642-5
the meal was simple and perfect.
a group effort of friends and family.
and all family recipes of the groom's favorite foods.

engagement photos were blown up at kinkos in poster size.
we used spray adhesive to mount them onto plywood.
and then they were hung from the rafters in the barn.

the craft house tables and chairs took a little field trip this weekend for the party.
hay bales served as seating and even made a loveseat for the bride and groom.

IMG_2692-16

this old door made a perfect frame.

the sun went down and the candles and twinkle lights were so pretty.
we enjoyed some time when everyone went home just soaking up the day.
what a blessing it was to be a part of it….to prepare something special for our friend.

AND get to do some of my favorite things at the same time….decorate AND eat good food!

my heart is full today.
bursting practically.
i am a happy happy girl.

I know its a bit of an ask but could you plan more parties so that your blog readers can devour all the eye-candy on a regular basis lol 🙂 And you guys ARE so young. I’m the same age as you and my eldest is just 4. MOst of my friends’ kids are around the same age so when they start getting married, we are going to be officially OLD. especially if they wait as long as their parents did…I don’t even want to think about it…but hey, i have alot of cute ideas for the party 🙂

Alice H - Everything looks PERFECT!! This is such a great idea.
Just a few questions: how many people were you serving? And how many pork shoulders/butts did you buy? And can you share the recipes for those cakes?
Thanks in advance if you make the time to answer these questions.

dumb california being so far from dumb kansas.

Dani - Beautiful! I love the pictures from the rafters. Simple, yet beautiful!

Dana @ Bungalow'56 - Megan,
I always look at events like these in magazines. You and your friends are so creative, it truly looked like a perfect night. The thought given to small detail and the meal… oh my goodness, just amazing. Your friend is one lucky lady to have you ladies in her life.

And she is not old enough to be a MIL. Period.

Cheryl E. - WOW, WOW, WOW!!!
Just beautiful…. all of it… the huge photos of the bride and groom, the wildflowers, the hay, the mason jars, home-cooked food…. all of it made with L.O.V.E.

Laura - NO WONDER YOU ARE EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!

Kimberlee Jost - Happiness for Jana!

You mommas showed up and that makes me smiiiiiiiiile a mile wide. I have a son and I know how much it would mean to have my friends help me get my baby boy ready for a wife and a new life. AAAAAAAAGH!! But alas he is just 16. Thanks for sharing Ms Meg.

Linda - perfection!

laura b - Everything looks so lovely and relaxed. My brother just had his wedding reception (they married in a private ceremony a month earlier) and they did a lot of the decorating and cooking themselves, but they seemed so busy and stresssed. You don’t look old at all!! Your friend doesn’t look old
enough to have a son getting married! I just feel old every time I see A!
🙂
You had quite the gamut of emotions this week. Loved seeing all the
treasures from your family this week. And that quilt was to die for!
Thanks for sharing all of it with us. So sorry for your family’s loss.
My thoughts and prayers were with you!

that was a long break. :)

well….another craft weekend is past and i am feeling fabulous.
and sleepy.
12 wonderful women have blessed my life again.
it was a great one.

i was thanking God all weekend for bringing Craft Weekend to be.
thankful for each woman he has brought here.
thankful for Him knowing just who to bring for each weekend.
i am so grateful.

and i kept thinking over and over how God brought kimberlee into my life so sweetly.
when i took her girls photos 4 years ago we could never have imagined what the future would hold for us!

IMG_2138-1

her talents for craft weekend are amazing.
her cooking is a true gift.
everything she makes tastes so SOOOO good.
and then she brings it with a cup of coffee to go with it!
she has a servants heart and loves to give the gift of relaxation to the women who come to CW.
everytime she serves a meal i feel so incredibly blessed.

IMG_0890-1

she is also very organized.
when you get the special invite to CW….she is the one who wrote it.
she keeps track of all the details of who and when and where the women are coming.

she tells me when i need to focus and what to be focused on.  :)
i am so thankful for that.

she is thoughtful too!

i am so grateful that God knew that i would need kimberlee.

IMG_2348-1

she is awesome.

thanks kimberlee for making craft weekend so totally great.
thank you for being the most fun person i could work with….ever.

and have you seen this video?
it is so stinkin' cute.
that is one lucky lady.

seriouslysassymama - That was the best video ever! Reminds me how much I love my lovin man!

Corey - Thanks so much for sharing the proposal video….it made my day!

Lisa - Over the years I’ve realized not everyone has awesome REAL friends. Always thanking God for mine too!
That video… I LOVE. I listen to that song every day. No joke. LOVE it! 🙂

Jana Banana - I’m finally getting around to leaving you a comment….I’m not sure how I arrived at your blog, but since I have, I’ve loved following along and find your photography fantastic! I’m so inspired by your crafting and the craft weekends you’ve established; incredible! I’m so glad you have such a neat friend in your life, too. Thanks for sharing your positive energy and creativity.

jacqui anderson - omgosh!!! that was so stinkin cute, bought tears to my ears!!

Angela - My 16 year old son showed me that video, needless to say I thought it was even sweeter that he appreciated it too.

amy jupin - kimberlee is awesome.
i am so happy you introduced us too!
i bet this post really touched her heart.
awwww, group hug!

Cathy - Great video!!

Aby Gittings - OMG!! BEST proposal EVER!!!! I am crying!!! Soooo very cool!!

Melissa - Oh my! First of all, what a sweet post of appreciation for Kimberlee! I’m sure she knows you appreciate her, but it is nice to be reminded every once in a while. And second, I was crying into my coffee with that proposal! How sweet that he would go to all the trouble with all those people and how much they must love the two of them to practice and get it down pat! Amazing! That is something none of them will ever forget. Thanks for sharing that, I loved it!

Kimberly Dial - Isn’t that just like God? 🙂 I can tell that you & Kimberlee make a great time … I hope to meet you both some day!

HandbagPigtail - Kimberlee sounds like an amazing blessing for sure and thank you for telling her so. I’ve always been baffled that people, in general, don’t tell others how they truly feel until its too late and the other person is lying at the front of a church in a casket. I’ve made it a point in my life to love on and appreciate those around me NOW.
Just yesterday we lost someone very dear to us but there’s peace in knowing we told him how much we loved and appreciated him…and often. And now he’s in glory with Jesus:)
Praise God for sweet friendship and time to recharge, right?

Karen Giddings - Kimberlee is an incredible lady (and so are you!). I speak for myself and Tracey that we are so in your fan clubs. 🙂 You touched our hearts and we are forever grateful for our experience at last month’s Craft Weekend. God is so good.

annie - AMAZING!!!! That’s awesome!!!!
What a great way to start my Tuesday morning off with a smile!!!!!

Beth Ann - What a super fun way to be proposed to!!!!

summer - Oi, that video began a two hour happy/ugly cry festival between YouTube proposal/military homecoming videos and myself. But it was cathartic, even if it made me talk my hubby’s ear off that night all about proposals and homecomings 🙂 I am such.a.girl.

Jen Brandt - What a sweet post about Kimberlee. I’m sure you made her heart smile.

Kim - Don’t you just love it when you find a friend that brings out the best in you? That makes you even better than you already are?
My daughter (she’s 11) has recently made a new friend. They bring out the best in each other. It is so cool to see. It is such a neat experience for the girls to have early on, to learn that some people bring out the best in you while others, well, not so much. I am so thankful for that other little girl! She has brightened my daughter’s life, just like Kimberlee has brightened yours.

TAB - What a blessing to have such a special friend.

Sara Torbett - Glad you have Kimberlee and that another weekend was God-sent! I’m curious-what’s on the sign in the pic with Kimberlee and the big vase of flowers?
Can’t wait to see more Craft Weekend pics!

Tracie - I was just sobbing while I watched that. Awesome!

Amy Lynne - Oh my word! That was the best proposal! What a great way to start out together!

jen - thank you for putting joy in my morning. that was the best proposal ever! tears, smiles and coffee. xoxo. thanks!

happygirl - You certainly are blessed to have Kimberlee in your life. God is good, all the time. 🙂

Gemma - All teary eyed from that proposal video. So cute!!!
Gemma xx

Carolyne - Meg, I think you need to do an international craft weekend!! Us aussies are missing out big time and you are a big tease in waving this wonderful weekend in our faces. Not fair!!!! (stamping my feet on the ground)…I love hearing about these weekends and look forward to all the mischief you gals get into. Seriously we need to look at getting us over there to craft house. hugs.

Pat - What a grand proposal!!! Oh, and the craft weekend is good, too. LOL

Stephanie - You and Kimberlee are so cute.
And I am totally teary eyed after that proposal!!

alimoll - I pray EVERY DAY that I get an invite to Craft Weekend! What a blessing that would be! But, I am patient. I can wait. I love that you do this Meg, and that you have a friend like Kimberlee to help you make this all happen! God Bless you both!

Terrie - Ok…my turn to make you cry! Sweet proposal!!!
Of course…it doesn’t hurt that I spent the day with my dear friend and her daughter
making their wedding invitations!
Can’t wait to hear all about another fabulous craft weekend!!
Rest up!

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - Best Video Ever. Crying!
And yeah. Kim. Burly. rocks. 🙂 hugs to you!

Katie - Meg – May I ask where you purchased the rainbow bead necklace? Thank you
-Katie

emily (justem) - Hey! That’s me! What an awesome surprise! I will contact you! 🙂
And I LOVE that proposal video…I was making everyone I know watch it… 😉

Heather S. - You have to be totally confident that the answer is YES, dontcha think? 😉 Cute video!

Ann Williams - Hi! I have been reading your blog for a long time now…I don’t know…about a year the way time flies? Just wanted to say thank you for the fun and inspiration! Craft Weekend looks like the most amazing experience! I would sooooo like to do that and spend a weekend with faithful, fun, funky ladies! How do you get on the list for future weekends? 🙂

6.2

a few months ago my running buddies and i decided we'd sign up for a 10K to keep us motivated.

it was hard to keep running some mornings but most of the time we made the effort.

this weekend….we did it!

IMG_20120602_070526-6

IMG_0418-4

i am sure you know how hard it is to have time with girlfriends.
so instead of just never seeing them….we meet up to run.

and to distract us from the running we talk about what is going on in our lives.

IMG_0412-5

we each ran the whole 6.2 miles….no walking.

woo-hoo!!!

IMG_0413-2

these are positive, encouraging, Godly women that i love.
we support each other.
we lift each other up.
we are happy for each other when good things come.
we pray for each other.
we want to see the best for each other!
they are so special to me.

i am so proud of all us for sticking with it and working hard.

IMG_0414-3

IMG_20120602_090606-7

when we were done…we weren't even exhausted.
we all agreed we could've kept going.

sweet.

our post race tradition is starbucks and the spa.

IMG_20120602_093726-8

this time we could only do starbucks because we had to get back home for our kids' swim meet.
but next time…

we are going to the spa.

and there IS a next time.

10 miles.

in the fall….it's ON!

and there is talk about a half marathon but that scares the heck outta me right now.

some of you have asked me about specifics on my personal running gear….

let me tell you that this sports bra has been A W E S O M E!!!

317kvxc-9IL._AA300_

i used to have to wear two sports bras to run…until i found this.
it's my fave.
it's available on amazon even….i got mine at Dicks Sporting Goods.

it's not cheap…but it's about the same as having to wear two before….and it's totally worth it.

i love the C9 running stuff at target.
love these capris….

13739483_Alt04

and i actually just got this running skirt!!!     first shorts and now a skirt?!  who am i ??

13966729_265x265_pad

41CSbrlSL5L

i love my bright happy shoes.  i have had NO problems with the Nike+ Free Runners.
love them.

of course you don't NEED any of these things to be a runner….except maybe the bra.
but happy shoes or a cute skirt makes it a teensy more enjoyable.

🙂

so….my main advice for running….what has been the best for me?

friends.

running with other women keeps me accountable and movitivated and keeps running fun.

find some friends and start walking or jogging.

226657793716180672_7xlMkgAw_f

i liked this.

and kinda hate it too.

but mostly it made me smile.

all this talking about running is making me want to get out there and GO!

i guess i will.

🙂

josy - Anyone who can run and talk at the same time is a superstar in my book!

Julie - I’ve been doing the double-sports-bra thing for years, and hated it. Based on your recommendation, I swallowed the money guilt and went right out to get that bra. I don’t usually do that, but I figured you wouldn’t steer me wrong. After my “long” run this morning, I can safely say that it is everything you said it would be. I really really appreciate it. Thanks for being a running inspiration to me.

Jennifer - Hey Meg…love this post. Congrats–that is so awesome! I turned 40 this May and have been feeling this sense of urgency that I need to get back into some sort of work out routine. I have for the past few years since my son was born just put it on the back burner. Your enthusiasm has motivated me to get more serious about getting my booty in gear. 🙂

JoLynn - So inspirational! I am overdue right now for baby #4, but running looks fabulous! 🙂 I would love to get into it once I recover. Do you have an iPhone that you listen to music? I am really behind the times when it comes to technology, but would love to buy something good to listen to tunes on for motivation. Thanks and keep up the hard work! 🙂

Christina - That is sooo great! You have been very inspiring to me with all of your running. Congratulations on doing this race!

nicole i - bravo!

Katherine @ Grass Stains - Meg, I’m sure someone’s already sent this to you, but just in case they haven’t … I’m in love with some of these floors! I thought they’d look terrific at the Craft House. 🙂 http://twentytwowords.com/2012/06/03/huge-bright-geometric-floor-designs-made-with-ordinary-vinyl-tape/

Tracy Fisher - you inspire me! and i love your stories about your friends. good friends are such a great thing! tracy

Tiffany - So awesome!!! Congrats on 6.2 miles, I always say running is not for me. Maybe I need the cute skirt? Nah, bur some inspirational friends would certainly do it.

Amy @ Little for a Little While - Was it a coincidence that you ran 6.2 miles on 6/2? What a great feat, good for you girl!

Nicole Wight - This is SO, SO inspirational & informative! Woohoo! Keep it up, Meg!

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - Yay Meg…You go girl!

Tanya - Congrats Meg!
I just ran my first 5k race weekend 2 weeks ago. I loved the energy. Pretty great…and addictive. My sister treated me to a LuLu Lemon outfit for race day! WOW 🙂
Yay for running!!!!

shiela - that was quite ssstrange that my previous comment got erased for some reason…? don’t feel like re-typing everything again & if this message gets “erased” as well…then, oh well!

Emily B - That is awesome! You look amazing! Races freak me out. But you’ve been (your 100 mile month), and are continuing to inspire me to keep running! Thanks for that.

Megan - Absolutely amazing! I am just starting on 5k’s and am so thankful for the inspiration you are!

elz - Congratulations. Be careful, I started with 5 and 10ks and now I’m a half marathon runner! You know, you can easily run twice as far as you’ve run before. Meaning, you gals are ready for a 1/2 marathon! Don’t be afraid to walk when you run (walk 1 minute every 10 minutes or so), it’s actually better for your muscles in the long run (ha ha, pun!). It keeps you fresher longer.

Ashley - Congrats! I think you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to add mileage, once you get past that 10K distance. It is daunting, of course, but seriously once I did seven miles it seemed like oh heck, what’s another mile? Good luck with the 10 miler, and I say go for it. Find half to sign up for! You can do it!

Kimberly Dial - So awesome! Congrats to you & your friends!

steph - way to go meg!!!!
so proud of you girls.
i always find a race gives me a kick in the pants and running is easier when i schedule it in.
so if i’m training, i’m more inclined to get out there.
sometimes i just ‘train’ pretend so that i get lots of mileage in.
i’m so sneaky! ha ha!
i love it though too… and i love running with my BFF.
we call it “coffee time” without the calories. 😉
right now i’m training for my third half marathon.
it’s on father’s day.
i’m sorta freaking out but excited too… in a barfy kinda way.
make sense?
ha ha ha!
i’m encouraging YOU to do a half too!
you will love it!
honestly!
lots of hard work but such a great feeling afterward.
if you want some training tips ever, feel free to email me.
i have always followed a very easy training plan.
only involves running 4 times a week.
3 shorter runs during the week and 1 long run on the weekend.
doable, for sure!
there’s nothing like the feeling of finishing the half too…
like having a baby without drugs.
super crazy hard… think you can’t do it… then it’s over… and you feel like a million BUCKS!
awesome!

roganne - you are so inspirational! i totally hate running. if i have to run, it is usually only because i am being chased! great job!

Kristin S - So proud of all of you! I’ve never run with a group because I love the alone time but I like this concept for encouragement.
I got achilles tendonitis in both feet (waaaa) four weeks and two days ago and haven’t run a step since. It is HARD. I miss it. I feel like a crazy, psycho woman missing running. I mean, I miss ice cream, but running?!?!
Thanks for the tips. I’m always on the hunt for a good sports bra. The cross back ones always seem so complicated but yours has a zipper! Brilliant. I get mine from Title Nine.
Run for me!

amy jupin - soooo proud of both you and jana!
this takes time and dedication–to running and to each other!
way to go girls!
p.s. va-va-voom! hotness.

Katie Jones - How did you get started like did you do a program or something?
Also still wondering about your devotional you were reading last week??? Which one is it????

Heidi Jo the Artist - So proud of you! 🙂 I have a ways to go, but I keep chugging along each week. Really hoping to try out that sports bra. I wear two when I run right now, and sometimes I think I need three, so I definitely know what you mean!! What headphones do you like? I remember you said you listen to music most of the times you run by yourself. I’ve got cheapies right now, but want to invest in a nicer pair that will stay in my ears well. I wish I had a lot or even ONE girlfriend that liked to run in my area. My brother runs a lot and between him, you, and another person online I know, you guys really inspire me. 🙂 I’d run with my brother, but man I got the short end of the stick and have super short legs compared to him and even if I was in pristine shape he would leave me in his dust… Trying to get my hubby and my oldest son to run more. My oldest son really wants to get a medal; my brother has gotten several and that is great encouragement for him. I really need to push it up a notch though, did lots of walking over the weekend so that made me feel better than doing nothing. I started doing stretching and some yoga over the past month. Every morning I had bad back pain the day after I would run or walk lots. I can’t believe how much of a difference it makes. Last night I was in a lot of pain from walking so much over the weekend and I just did the stretching even though it was painful, and wow felt pretty good this morning. So that is my advice if anyone ever asks you about backpain. 😉 Have a great week!

Suzanne - Great job, Meg! I am starting the Couch 2 5K program – I really LOATHE running. But I really need to get in shape, and I set a goal of running a 5K, so….

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - I am so happy for you! That is fantastic!

april - You look sooooo great!!! Congrats on the race! xoxo

April R - Yeah you guys! 🙂 That’s so awesome!
and I can see how those shoes would make running happier 🙂 super cool!

happygirl - You are a ROCK STAR! You look great. Good for you. 🙂

Jenna@CallHerHappy - I need to get back into running. I was in a running accident a couple of years ago, and I’ve had a hard time starting up again. Prayers for me? I’ll say some prayers for you that keep getting more awesome!
Jenna

Christy K - This is awesome Meg… way to go!

Londen - congratulations! I will do any kind of workout but hate running, always have. you are looking quite fit btw!!

Seriously Sassy Mama - I so love to run. I just started, and hope to run a 5k in a year. I actually like running by myself. It gives me time to listen to music, think, and talk to God.

Jennifer - Congratulations! That is quite the accomplishment. I’m not a fan of running, but I go to a bootcamp 3 days a week and we do lots of running. What keeps me going…..friends. You are so on the money with that. They motivate and empathize about the pain and being tired. Thanks for the tips on the running gear. I agree the Under Armour bra is the best and have wanted to know which shoes you had…so cute!

Laura Wilder - Wow Meg – Awesome AWESOME job! Just yesterday I was checking back in your posts about running music. I just started back up again after a long hiatus. 🙂 It makes me feel free.

Sandy - Way to go! That is awesome! I want to be a runner but I am no good at it. I’ll keep CrossFitting and working on my running. …

the whyte house - congrats!!
my friend shelly was at the gorun booth there. she also posted kansas.com’s photos from the race. her hubby is the one blowing the bubble w his gum! haha.
http://www.kansas.com/2012/06/02/2357578_a2357528/2012-kansas-health-foundation.html

Terrie G - Oh.My.Gosh. I’m almost embarrassed to show my age…I was one of your dear sweet running friends’ youth group leader! LOVE that girl!! She has such a sweet spirit about her! I’m so happy that she has sweet, wonderful, faithful, Godly women like you in her life! Puts a smile on my face!
Congrats on your accomplishment!!

Holly - congrats Meg! That is awesome! We are doing a color run here in Nashville in October. You need to see if there is one close to you because you would LOVE it!

Ashley - I am so proud of you…and in awe of you. That is a LONG run, a REALLY REALLY REALLY LONG run in my book. Great job friend!

it was a crafty day.

i forgot about the sleeping in part of spring break!
woo-hoo!
i LOVE sleeping in.
especially on these rainy days.

i ran at the gym….i got there and the tvs were being replaced!!!
running in front of a mirror for an hour?
i almost left.
it sounded AWFUL to me.
then the dude next to me left and he was on the only treadmill that has it's own tv.
i assumed it wasn't working since he wasn't watching.
i took a quick bathroom break at mile 2 and then checked that treadmill….it worked!
so i got to watch old grey's anatomy on lifetime for my last 3 miles.
i am glad i did not leave.

IMG_8225-1

i promised my girls a craft when i got home.
we couldn't agree on one so we did a few different things.

IMG_8226-2

annie and i made winter cardinal art from deepspacesparkle.com.
i was in a painting mood.

IMG_8247-8  IMG_8248-9
annie's cardinal.                                                             mommy's cardinal.

talby made a princess and the pea picture and painted the turtle shell!

such good friends.
they are helpful and funny and GREAT painters!

DON"T FORGET ABOUT WORLD WATER DAY.
its coming up on thursday.
go get signed up to use your blog or facebook or twitter right HERE.

we need you.

let's do it together.

Water3

join us here to be ready on thursday!

jenni - I really really want to be your friend! Dang girl, you have a craft house! Why oh why do you live on another continent?

Susan - Love the chairs – what type paint do you use?

Dana - I love when I haven’t been able to read your blog for a few days then I see a pin on pinterest from your blog (the chairs) and I think “ohhh Meg is up to something new…better go check out what I have missed!”

Heidi Jo the Artist - Now, that is a bed Talby! So cool. Love the painted turtle shell too. My kids love to paint rocks. 🙂

Johanna - LOVE those chairs—I have some I need to paint. It looks like you did not prime them? Think it’s necessary? What about sanding? The thought of sanding all the rungs is keeping me from starting i think!!! 🙂

Amy - I would love to borrow your girls and have a craft day. I have one son and he doesn’t like to craft or paint. I could craft all day, every day. Good luck in your new home. I live in the country on a farm and love it. Very peaceful and calm out here.

Kristin S - Meg, I’ve wanted to make this cheesecake but I don’t know what a “small tub” of sour cream is. 4 oz? 8 oz? I buy the ones at Sam’s so do you know the ounces/cups on that one?
Thanks.

Carrie - I have been reading your blog for quite awhile now. When life is busy I skim the title of the other blogs I follow, but read yours through. I just love to read it. I have 5 kids 15-4 and I open enroll them to a school in a neighboring district and drive them to school – the morning bus is too early for us this year. Our pick up is in a church parking lot. Looks a lot like yours. I had to laugh when I saw you drive a white suburban… me too. Also smiled when you talked about your inner homeschool mom. I have that too. I was jealous when you found a house – we’ve been looking for 3 years! I started running last spring… but I was really hung up on keeping on running (not walking) and pace, tried to train for a half marathon and made it to 8 miles but fizzled out by fall. Should have taken it slower. You inspire me to take it up again. Keep keepin’ it real!

andrea - Annie’s cardinal looks just like the one that thinks he is in charge of my bird feeders! He is one fierce little bird.
Love, love, love Talby’s painted turtle shell. Turtles are my favorite animal. Would never have thought to paint it.

Krissy - I LOVE your chairs!! They are so happy!!!

Katie - okay, seriously? those painted chairs are enough to make my heart stop. soooo adorable!
i feel your treadmill pain. i use the one that my in-laws have in their (unfinished) basement, so i’m staring at piles of junk the whole time. makes me want to scream sometimes… but then i’m thankful for the free workout : )

Prairie Jenn - Deep Space Sparkle makes me happy:)
Lots of art inspiration there!
Love the rainbow chairs…I want to do the same in my craft room if we ever get finished remodeling!

Laine - Ooooo….can I come paint in exchange for cheesecake?? =) Love the colors, what are the names? With all my squinting I still couldn’t make them all out, lol!

Jennifer@beautyinbloom - Oh my stars. It would be a dream come true for me to have a chair painting party. You have no idea 🙂

Holly - I need to get some friends over to help me work on my painting projects! hmmmm….:)

Lori Austin - I would totally paint chairs for cheesecake! 😉

Dani - The chairs look amazing! I love all the bright colors. Y’all are so talented! The cardinals were beautiful.

Mandy - I totally have that sea blue/green color from Walmart sitting on a white antique desk that I bought for a steal on Craigslist! I have yet to paint it!! Would love to see your finished product with that color paint!
http://dailydoseoframblings.blogspot.com

Bernice - Love the colours you chose for the chairs! And your choice of entertainment and dessert
Sounds like it was a fabulous time.

Marianne - Gorgeous chairs! Aww, now I want my own craft house too… 🙂

Leslie @topofthepage - i missed that cardinal one on deep space sparkle. i love that website. i want to do that. love birdies. and that cheesecake is the best ever. made it a few times now. once being in my grandma’s million year old kitchen in rural oklahoma. i’m not sure she even knew what a springform pan was. but it worked fine in a pyrex 9×13, though a bit painful to look at.

Sarah Wolfe - What a great idea! This is going to be such a lovely room. Your paint colors are so great. Wish I could include a little pink in my school room chairs, but I don’t think the boys would appreciate 🙂

Sara Torbett - Love the turtle shell 🙂 and the pretty chairs too. Cheesecake sounds delish with some strong black coffee. Yummy! Glad Grey’s came to the rescue for you today 🙂

AshleyAnn - That sounds like a perfect girl’s night in to me…and I really want some cheesecake!! Have fun at CW. I’ll miss you all!

Julie - I love Talby’s Princess and the Pea picture! And Annie is such a great artist!
And…those CHAIRS! They are gorgeous!!!

ko. s - So fun! I would love to paint chairs and eat cheesecake!

Kelly - Loving the colorful chairs!
And no…. Haven’t tried the recipe yet. Why is it that making cheesecake scares me so?!?
I’ve always just bought it. Hmmmmm…

Karen Estes - Where are you going to use those chairs? I love the colors on them and would love to do that in my kitchen but my husband thinks I’m crazy.

Becki - The chair idea is great! What a fun girl’s night!

whitney f - Oh, and I must not know how to find the winners for things you giveaway??? haha
Was the winner announced for the Girls Night out $100 gift card to Olive garden??

whitney f - Those chairs look amazing!!!!!! I need to do that!!!!

Tanya - I work at a 50+ rec centre with a conditioning room and there are NO T.V.’s!! But the peeps still come cause it’s c-h-e-a-p 😀
We did bingo dauber art today, easy and fun.
I love the cardinal paintings <3

The Frat Pack + Me - Now that is my kind of girls night out…except could I have a cookie instead? I think I am the only person on the planet that doesn’t enjoy cheesecake.

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - Yes, girls night out does change as we get older, have hubbies and kiddies, but I wouldn’t change a thing, love that kind of night!

Patty Palmer - The cardinals and the sweet princess look divine! And I love your chairs….hmmm. My chairs are looking quite grey and boring!

tina - that cheesecake looks heavenly…ps peanut butter pie falls in to breakfast food at my house too 🙂

Pink and Green Mama MaryLea - ….except the blue ones in my dream were more of a bright turquoise blue!

Pink and Green Mama MaryLea - love the chairs — they look JUST like the ones in my dream from a few nights ago — too funny! : )

Happy girl - Those chairs are gorgeous and those friends are priceless. 🙂

mae - Love this post!!! Thank you for supporting World Water Day and using your voice for the good of others. You rock!

Lasso the Moon - our girls are so inspiring! I love that shot of the painting that only has the blue and red. Looks so graphic and cool!
Now I need to stop reading blogs and go make something with my own kids.
Anna

Seriously Sassy Mama - mmmm cheesecake!

Anita - I sent you an email but wasn’t sure how often you check it and I was trying to get the recipe for the blueberry buckle muffins. Can you post it or sent it to me.
Thanks,
Anita

Kim - I love that you have a craft house! And good friends close by. We moved about a year ago. Still working on the close friend bit. It’s coming, but it takes time. The chairs are looking great!

Jacci - AWESOMENESS 🙂 I’ve soooo missed watercolors and desserts since you’ve moved! ha ha.
I **love** the chairs. I should’ve known you were going to paint them. But, it just seemed like SO many chairs. How great that you have friends that are willing to come paint with you. I’m sure cheesecake bribery helps 🙂
And… you *know* you’re going to get a bazillion commenters asking for the scoop on your paint colors. You might as well add the color names at the bottom of the post! I know I already squinted really close to my monitor trying to read the tiny letters. ha ha.

Sheila P. - Your life just looks way more creative and relaxing than mine. I think I need to go buy some paint and make some friends! Oh, and make a cheesecake too. 🙂

http://musings-of-a-gem.blogspot.com/2012/02/giveaway.html

Valerie@Chateaualamode.typepad.com - So which came first? the friendship or the blogs? Just curious how you guys know each other and how long you’ve been friends. Maybe you’ve blogged about it before and I don’t remember (which could be as I’m soooo very old) but that might be a fun post to read about if you want to share 😉 Looks like it was a successful CW.

Robyn Farmer - Now I want to know the peanut butter cake recipe!?

Diane - to continue with the hair color thing…if it’s your own haircolor- I”m SOOOO jealous!

Diane - I want to comment on how cute your aprons are…but I just keep staring at your haircolor! I know, weird, right? I’m about to dye my hair for the first time. (I’ve been covering my 5 grays with mascara- don’t ask)…and I’m in love with your hair color. So…please feel free to email me with the color. Hope this doesn’t sound to stalkerish. Ugh. 🙂

Michelle From Australia - Love the pics. And the aprons. Don’t love the fact that I’m half a planet away and unless I win Lotto, I’ll never get to go to a craft weekend 🙁

Natasha - Fabulous photos! And I totally love those aprons too… thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

amy jupin - sniff, sniff!
missing you both.
biggie time.
and that heavenly cake too.
and my g-string pennant banner underoos.

Heather D. - I love your necklace and your haircut!

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - You two are so pretty. And I am in love with your apron! 🙂

My friend is trying to talk me into doing a 1/2 iron man with her.

Miss you friend, hope all is well with you!!

Deb Meyers - woo-hoo!!! great job!
deb meyers

Emily - You look fantastic!! Congrats on the race!!!

Kimberlee Jost - Awesome job ladies!!!!!!

Jodi - congrats!! so proud of you! 🙂

Heidi Jo the Artist - That’s awesome! I used to wear crazy stocks when I was in cross country in high school and my final gift from the team was another pair of weird/crazy socks.
My brother runs in races all the time and is encouraging me to run in one/some. So my goal is sometime in the new year, because I think it will push me more. I ordered my first pair of running shoes in a long time and they sent me the wrong size. 🙁 So hopefully will get right size soon and I will start running more than once a week.
Happy running!

Nicole Q. - You go girl !!

TinaM. - way to go! i hope that was a peppermint mocha in that cup 🙂

wednesday

IMG_3516-1

today was cold and dark.

IMG_3519-2

i drove out to my friends farm and we did bloggy stuff.
🙂

i like bloggy stuff.

IMG_3521-3

and coffee.
and cupcakes.

and talking with my friend.

IMG_3532-4

i stepped out to say hello to the ladies….

IMG_3542-5
this one even mooed at me.
it was a nice quiet moooooo.
i think she was saying politely "please leave now…and take that camera with you"

IMG_3544-6

i came home with some FRESH milk…YUM.

between talking about blogs we talked about everything else, her phone rang several times, a truck of cows came and left, two people came in to buy milk, she baked and frosted dozens of cupcakes and picked up a sick kid from school.
i know how that life feels.
it's my normal too….just hers has cows.
there is not a break.

but it's all good.

IMG_3545-7

Kerry makes FABULOUS cupcakes!
she catered for craft weekend and she has baked for parties for me too.
they are unreal.
my favorite is the coconut….. oh my.  YES!!!  so good!

local kansas girls: you need to call her.
you need these cupcakes.

birthday party?  family reunion?  christmas party?

or even just for dessert!

(or breakfast)

you will love them.

L O V E them.

i drove to back to town to pick up my kids in the gray kansas country watching little snowflakes blowing
all around my car.
i felt grateful…
for kansas.
for school buses.
for cupcakes.
for dreamers.
for laughter.
for tears.
for friendship.
for God…the REAL true God who loves me more than i can imagine. He is abundant in blessings.
He is the Hope i have.  He has me in His hands.  He knows all the questions and thoughts i have.
He knows my dreams and desires.  He knows what's best.  i am so grateful for that.

🙂

Thanks for posting Kansas pictures! I miss home! We used to go buy milk from that barn, although it’s changed a lot since I was there! And I was just recently home shooting a wedding reception in the barn. Kerry is amazing! Thanks for sharing your life with the reading world!

Lisa - Wasn’t that weather crazy yesterday? Dark and dreary, then the snow starts, and starts really blowing, and then the sun comes out as strong as can be . . . . while it’s still snowing! And then the sun stayed out and it was beautiful the rest of the day. Ahhhh, Kansas.
On my lunch break today, I started reading Debbie Macomber’s book “One Simple Gift” (I think that’s right) and my brain is tumbling with the words of the first chapter about having an attitude of gratitude, and living a generous life. Seeing everyone’s list of blessings is reinforcing her words. We are so blessed in this life, aren’t we?! Thanks for your list and your down to earth words.

Kari - awesome post! i am thankful for so many things but lately i am thankful for the beautiful skies i’m seeing this fall – breathtaking!

Shayne - Hooray for time with friends. That is one of the biggest gifts that God gives us. (And a friend who bakes scrumptious cupcakes? Can’t get much better!)

Kris Timson-Bates - I really need to get more organized so I can start up a blog. After reading your posts, I really feel like it would be a great idea. If for nothing else, it would be a great way to find myself again. I think it would also motivate me to get to work on the other projects I have put on a back burner- just so I could post and blog about them. You are an inspiration. Thank you!
My list of thankfuls:
My loud and obnoxious, beautiful children
My soon-to-be husband
My chaotic household
The chance to have a second go at finishing up school
A vehicle that is still running
The few friends I can count on and talk to
A set of eyes that can wear some creative make-up concepts
The ability to unload my creativity into many different mediums
A stocked food pantry
and the opportunity to have a small peek into your life, learning that even with a full plate- there is always time for crafts, baked yummyness, home cooked meals, and a little girl time.
… I don’t think I have actually sat down and made a list of what I am thankful for since grade school. It felt good. 🙂
