oh my.

this has been quite the interesting and GOOD few days.

i have so much to tell you.
so much to think of how i want to tell it.
and literally hundreds of pictures to show you.

for now…just this.

IMG_2425

i will write more soon.

i HaVE to…there is SO much to tell you about.

Mandi - Ahh! A cliff hanger. Love them or hate them, they leave you wanting more!

Melanie - Just wanted to stop by and say hello. We have been very busy getting ready to move 800 miles from Florida and it has been hectic here. You know, I am moving to the cold weather and I just might think about that hot chocolate machine! Just kidding. I know you have enjoyed it and I loved giving it to you. I hope you are doing well.

Suzanne - so not funny.

Laura Phelps - Isn’t it amazing that even when you tell us NOTHING, you get over 40 people commenting?

jody - enough! let’s hear what you’ve got!

Tracy - I think I have checked back 5 or 6 times today….do you have some pics from the arts and crafts fair? Just a thought!

Patti - i think we can categorize this as cruel and unusual punishment.

Wendy - I have officially checked back here 4 times today, Dana M.!!! LOL! Pw and Meg are the only blogs I’d do that for. 🙂

Ashley Ann - I am holding my breath that it is pictures from the Cora Playground dedication. I have checking the Macs blog and yours waiting for a glimpse. If that isn’t the post you have in mind…please post on that soon. I wish I could have been there….

carissa... brown eyed fox - oh my word! ants in our pants! big FIRE ants!

Jess - Dana M.-I have checked 3 times today!
The suspense is killing me!
Oooh, is it the “extra” room? I’ve been dying to know what you decided to do with it!!!
I have an early bedtime here on the east coast, Megan. I will not be able to sleep for thinking of what could you have hundreds of pictures to show us!

Dana M. - I just want to know how many times has everyone checked back today to see if Megan has filled us in……Way to leave us hangin’!!

Keri ~ Forever Folding Laundry - I think I have a clue…did you have some visitors? 😉 Can’t wait to see!

Amy B - GAH!!! So MEAN! Get back here and tell us already!

Becki Skol - Tease!!!

Sandy - can’t wait to hear and see!!

luisa - Ohhhhhhhhhh, it’s almost time for me to go to bed, I have to wait till tomorrow? 🙁
luisa – italy

Kelly O. - hmmmm…..

Sarah - Ooh yay! I can’t wait!

danyele - the colors make me happy, but my type a personality wants to untangle everything. sad.

Sarah - That’s cruel and unusual punishment. Pretty soon a rumor will start about #6 on it’s way. (I know…that has absolutely NOTHING to do with your teaser pics, so why would I even bring that up?)

Jamie - Can’t wait!!!

Tracy - I can’t believe you are being such a tease girl! Get on with it – I am not a patient person! LOL :o)

maureen - don’t tell me you are doing your own I-spy books:))

Wendy - O.k….. I’ve already done my errands for the morning and still no updates. I guess now I’ll *have* to do that darn yoga cd then maybe, just maybe I’ll get to read all about your news. 🙂

Michelle - You’re good at building suspense. : )

jennifer - Wow! Nothing like leaving us hanging here! 🙂
Can’t wait…

Anna Marie - Not funny.
We’re waiting. 😛

Kate - Oh, I love the mystery!! Can’t wait to hear more 🙂

Trina McNeilly - Looking forward to hearing all about it….. this is why i love your pictures….. what could be clutter or a mess is just beautiful!!!!! Have a gorgeous week! xx

Trish - Such a great picture of random yummies! I was the “crazy” lady that was going to drive to Kansas from Michigan on Saturday 🙂
Glad you had a wonderful time!

Julie K - Oh Megan, that is just plain mean!! 🙂

emily - i’m seriously envious of the bowl of sparkly things. 🙂 can’t wait to hear about your days!

Summer - My four year old would have a hayday! Looks like all things fancy.

Nina - way to leave us hanging Meg!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Can’t wait:)

Nicole - You have us all wondering . . . . i had to laugh about your comment with the kids being “wack” in the bleachers. We went to our neices volleyball game a week ago and it was INSANE, it was like those pop up games where you hit one down and the other pops up. AHH!
We had a GREAT weekend, still recooping. I’ll post some pics later today hopefully. You would have LOVED it all!! THe details and creativity were amazing, very vintage!

erica - lol way to keep everyone on their toes!

volleyball

lauren is playing volleyball again this year.

i think she likes it.

i never can get too much information out of her.

she says it's "fine" "same" "good" "fine"

so i guess that means it's going okay.

she's number 14.

IMG_2015

we ALL went to her game on monday.

and brought great grandma too.

IMG_2037

our kids acted as if they had never been out of the house before.

as if they never seen bleachers or knew how to sit on them.

they were WACK.

IMG_2013  IMG_2014

but it was good to see lauren in action.

that girl can hit hard.

IMG_2007

traci - she can jump high too!! GO LAUREN!!!

princesslasertron - hahahaha. I remember loving bleachers when I was little. it’s amazing how they just fold into the wall! and what if I got folded up in them? and look how you can sit your butt either on the seat or in the foot space! let’s climb all the way to the top! let’s try to climb dad!
good for lauren. it’s really really really awesome to be involved in high school activities. I think she will remember these times fondly!

Laura Phelps - AH!!!!!!!! What is it about the BLEACHERS!!!!!???????? I refuse to take my kids anymore!

Tracy - Glad she’s having a great time – my daughter, Alliye, is also playing volleyball this year and is number 6 on her high school team! Unfortunately, the games are all during the week so I’ve not been able to get to any but my mother-in-law got to go to one last week while my husband and I were on vacation and took some pictures for me thankfully! I hope that Lauren has a great year! Hugs! :o)

lauren bean; - Haha thanks guys;) & yeah i do love volleyball I just get tired of hearing ‘How’s practice?’ every day, lol.
fyi…
teenage girls ARE fun. ill bet a great deal more fun than moms that blog, 😛 !
love, lauren

Kathy - So funny good to know I’m not the only one that hears “fine” and “good” and nothing else oh and “Okay” and “I know” yup that’s about it. Hope Lauren has a great season.

pve - I am living the fine-good-what mom life here and I it suits me fine.

carissa... brown eyed fox - get em girl… that was for lauren! 🙂 i saw a pic you posted of her the other day… OH MY WORD… she is GORGEOUS… she gets prettier every day doesn’t she!
i laughed so hard at the kids acting like they had never been out of the house! SO relate… it is almost out of body… like… “who are these kids”?
when we were house hunting… in a tour of homes… my kids were “WACK”! it was so weird… didn’t know whether to laugh or spank em! i KNOW they thought my kids were terrors! oh well… kids! 🙂

Wendy - That’s great that she has a sport that she’s passionate about! 😀 I think in teenage mumble talk, “fine”, “great” etc. area all very passionate words. lol I get the same from my 17yo son about football. I know he loves it though.

tami - yay, lauren! 🙂

Erin - My 8yr old daughter is learning to play volleyball for the first time this year. She loves it so far. I wish my 11yr old like it but soccer is her thing.

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Oh my word, I was so lame at volleyball. I never did figure out how to properly “set” the ball. It hurt my fingertips!
Lauren looks hard core. And you got some great action shots!

aubrey - Their shorts remind me of that line in the movie Hook–“However did you fit into those smashing tights again Peter?” I wish my legs and hips were that little–or that I was not full of baby and could go play volleyball–I think it’s fun.

Romana - Wish I could have jumped like that!
Meg, you have to check out this song, I think you could relate to it at the moment! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_veIGGP1Uh4
If the link doesn’t work, check out Peter Denahy’s song “Sort of dunno nothin’ ” on youtube, hilarious!

Carrie - What a jump! She seems like a great athlete. Even in the midst of teen angst, you guys must be so proud! 🙂
And I am pretty sure fine and good are the most you can get out of teenager.

Dana D @BoysMyJoys - WACK- a-ha-ha, how truly well that word can describe children’s behavior at times!
Mine act the same way… A LOT!
WooHoo, Lauren!

adrienneK - awe thats so neat!!! go lauren!go lauren! 🙂 does lauren dislike being in the blog? she doesnt seem to be in as many posts lol (teenagers right?!) i have no idea what im gonna do when my girls are anywhere near that age lol

Staci - I love her answers, “fine”, “great”, etc…. I remember saying those same things 🙁 She looks like she is AWESOME!!! GO LAUREN!!!!!

purejoy - she’s got serious skills!! go girl!!

TRACI - Teen girls are soooo much fun….NOT!! LOL
Isn’t it cool though to see her excel at something? I always LOVED vollyball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kate - Wow! And she can jump! Go Lauren!

chicago

IMG_1822

we went to chicago for our anniversary.

15 years.

it doesn't feel nearly that long.

i have been with him longer than i haven't.

that is such a safe and lovely place to be.

we flew out on friday after getting the kids settled with grandparents.

(we love that grandmas watch the kids!)

dave picked us up at the airport…did a trip down memory lane through the old neighborhood…

yes.

i saw you old neighbors sitting inside your homes…marybeth.  you were on your computer.  :)

you too sue.

it was too late to just show up unannounced.

i could spend a week with jenny easy….but i will take what i can get.

we talked till late.

we went to IKEA on saturday.

oh my love for ikea will never die.

i fit as much into my carry on (that i made craig carry since it was so heavy) as i could.

these lights are fabulous.

IMG_1751

they are HUGE.  hold out your arms and that is how big each one of these lights are.

and they are made of paper!

so creative.

i didn't get one though…

we went for our usual gluttonous family style meal at maggianos.

we were short a few people that are usually with us….but we managed just fine.

who knew only four people could eat so much?!

we deserved a free t-shirt…or complimentary stretchy pants.

IMG_1756

that's my bff…chicago jen.

IMG_1761

the first night was at jen and dave's.

the next night we went to a hotel…the airport hilton.

i had LOW expectations.

and i was so pleasantly surprised.  it was nice!  and SO quiet.

i think i only heard one plane…and we are across the street from the airport!

impressive hilton.

well done.

and i was glad (for many reasons) my kids weren't there because the windows would have given me

a heart attack.

AND they opened!

it makes my heart jump just thinking about it now.

IMG_1763

we rode the train downtown.

we spent all of sunday in chicago.

walking around just craig and i together.

we didn't have to go into any lego stores even.

i got to see everything i wanted…hey except what about pottery barn? did you trick me craig?!

craig was checking out all the architecture…

and going into buildings we have never gone into…just to see them.

IMG_1794

IMG_1770

craig's favorite.

IMG_1788

IMG_1781

IMG_1793

IMG_1791

we ran into our friends from newton…they were in chicago for their anniversary too.

they had run a half marathon that morning.

they are awesome.

they were headed to american girl place.

(we knew they were in chicago but we weren't planning on seeing them downtown…just later for U2)

IMG_1798

IMG_1797

IMG_1802

IMG_1805

IMG_1803

IMG_1827

the bean is just so cool.

i could sit here all day…i love to people watch.

everyone is smiling here.

IMG_1812

IMG_1828

i told craig i think we should live on the top floor of that middle building.

"just a simple home for two"

i thought we should just have the whole floor.

i dream big.

those windows are gorgeous!

IMG_1838  IMG_1840

ok…this is gross.

IMG_1837

i am sorry.

i just had to share.

it was so crazy…

she put her kid by the fountain right in front of us and then just bends over to take a picture.

showing us all her goods!

AAAAAAAAAA!!!

she did it several times…so i took her picture.

i just had to.

if you are reading this lady….thank you for at least wearing the underwear.

IMG_1848

we met up with the kansans and dave & jen for dinner.

stuffed pizza….YUM.

then we walked to soldier field for U2.

IMG_1849

IMG_1850

IMG_1862

IMG_1852

this was the stage before they started.

it was super big….like rock star BIG.

with gi-normous screens.

U2

U21

he didn't bring me up on stage.

i thought i heard him calling me but no one else heard it.

ha.

U22

U25

U2 junkies.

IMG_1905

IMG_1920

IMG_1928

you must click on this one.

make it as big as your screen….and then just think of what it would be like to be Bono.

can you even imagine all those people screaming for you?!!

it is unreal.

IMG_1921

IMG_1922

U24

it was amazing.

you should go to their concert.

you won't be disappointed.

i promise.

even if you don't know all their songs…you will LOVE it.

we made it back to kansas monday morning.

the kids were happy (most of them) to see us.

and we were ready for them…we missed them.

they loved their chicago souvenirs.

i love getting away with the
craigster.

he is my favorite.

so…now you have been reading about me waaaaay too long.

you should go get something done.

me too.

bye.

tami reed - looks like you had a great time! You should have taken pics in front of Harpo studios lol. Im use to live in the midwest too! Cleveland, Ohio! We were neighbors lol

cufflinks - Wow!
How amazing does that look.
I love U2 but never had the opportunity to go and watch them live. I had heard that their gigs are something special but looking at your pictures it looks absolutely stunning.
I wish i was their!
I can imagine your aniversary must have been really special.

Kristine Robb - omg you crack me up! the lady… the craigster… the going and doing something else besides read your blog…
your pics are so great! makes me miss my sweet home chicago… my husband used to live in marina towers (the corn cob looking bldgs on the river – 48th floor) the year before we were married. it was amazing!
i had several friends at the concert. glad you had a blast! your pics gave me the visual for what they had to say about it!

Diana aka "knzus" - wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! what a great place to go for your anniversary… and btw, Happy Anniversary a few days late! have missed reading you, been so busy, and ill with my migraines, and busy, and well, life gets in the way of regular blog reading, heh-heh LOL! geesh, that lady with the goods that aren’t even good, oh my *rolls eyes* sure glad we don’t have that here… or do we???? always love your pics… love that you share your world with us, thank you for that… inspite of the undie fashion blunders ROTFL! {{hugz}}

Joni Lloyd - we used to visit chicago every summer while my parents did wholesale shows at the merchandise mart. it was a tradition to eat at portillos and try to catch a cubbies game if they were in town. thanks for sharing the pictures. brought back lots of memories!

Teri - Happy Anniversary! I am so jealous! My last anniversary that we got away, we lived in Chicago and went somewhere else. We didn’t know we’d be moving a month later. We are planning a huge family trip back, but to walk with my hubster all to myself.
Did you know- that you can order Portillo’s and it will be overnighted? We do it for Christmas every year.

Diane - Hi. I normally don’t comment but I love reading your blog.
First, great pictures … always love to see your what you capture … and that lady? Now that was hilarious. Couldn’t stop laughing!
My husband’s cousin was at the U2 concert as well so I shared the pictures. And the one that you say to enlarge, well, she did that and found herself in the picture!! She was so excited! So thanks for sharing.
Diane

Sam - Ok, seriously that women needs to invest in some longer skirts. Nasty. Definitely agree about the apartment. Imagine what great light you would get…..

Heather Anuta - I love your Chicago pictures! I am from Chicago but go to school in Ohio. I love whenever you even mention Chicago. I was home the same weekend you were there. I was actually there for the half marathon your friends were there for. I love the Portillos pic.. I had to get some before I made the drive back here.
I, too, could spend all day at the bean people watching. It’s just the most beautiful city! Thanks for sharing!

Jen - OH. MY. WORD! I cannot believe the lady in the fountain! Can I have your permission to post that on my blog with a nod to yours? I could use it for a post I’m ruminating over–seriously!
Chicago is my VERY favorite city! My husband and I are probably the ONLY people in the world who want to retire to a loft apartment in downtown Chicago. Hey–dreams are free!!
Thanks!

sara's art house - LOVE the Chicago pics!!!!

Melanie - Guess what, Megs? Me & my hubby were on the FLOOR of that U2 concert! Yep, I won radio station tickets and we had floor access. It was SO awesome looking up at those thousands and thousands of people. Not to mention that we were on Soldier Field where the Bears play. Too cool.
Glad you enjoyed Maggianos…we go there every July to celebrate our oldest son’s bday, as it’s his favorite restaurant.

Jenny - What a great weekend!
The photos of Chicago look fantastic. I would really love to go there.
I love those light shades at IKEA. I was looking at them last weekend. IKEA is one of my favourite places.
The U2 concert looks amazing. The stage is incredible. I saw them last time they were in Sydney – they always have amazing effects.

Dawn - Chicago . . . what a fun city! It is one of my favorite cities to visit! Loved seeing it through your eyes!

amy - I have enjoyed starting to read your blog. Check out ours…thebradsmithbunch.blogspot.com. Ordered Ed Emberly books today for crafts for my boys…they will love them. I’ve always wanted on of his books! amy

Kimberlee J. - The other night I asked B what he would like to spend money on more than anything—you know what he said? Seeing U2 in Norman, OK. He loved the pictures and you are spurring on the cause…maybe I should just send you with him???

Nicole - WHat a great trip . . . made me want to get away with my man! THose times are AWESOME!!! I’m with you on the IKEA love, I miss mine in UT! WHAA! THat lady bending over was HILAROUS, like I laughed out loud!! Glad you had fun, have a great time at the craft fair!!

Jaime @ Simply Arizona - Happy Anniv, Meg! We celebrate 15 years this year too (and I have been with my DH over half my life as well)… =)
I was actually born in Chicago… but we moved when I was 18mos old. I want to go back for sure – and your pictures just proved the point even more (except for the underwear lady, I could do without that scenic view!).
Thanks for sharing!!

Andrea @ Big Creek Cottage - Happy belated anniversary…..your pictures take me there!

Sandy - Once again – great pictures! I’ve never been to Chicago, but between yours and my daughter’s pictures I REALLY want to go.
The picture of the lady bending over – you should send that in to …what magazine is it?…Glamour??…that has the DO and DON’T fashion pictures. Maybe she’ll see herself in there (although I doubt she reads magazines like that). They will insert a nice black rectangle to protect her privates. …maybe she should have thought of that!

Elisa - I saw them many years ago when I was at UT- great concert. I would love to see them again!
Glad you got away, always a good thing 🙂

pve - Guess I need to post mine.
It is coming – the anniversary.
22 years, so I have got you beat.
You kill me with all you do,
you bend over backwards –
with all your shots.

Mary Beth - True Story. Swear to Gawd.
1981 or 1982…a band called U2 was playing in Ames, Iowa.
We went.
( I went to Iowa State University back then.)
Didn’t LIKE them or didn’t GET them….AND WE LEFT!!!
And we had to PAY SEVEN DOLLARS TO GET IN.
After all these years, I’ve wanted to call that old boyfriend and ask if it WAS U2 that we left. I’m pretty sure it was.
Really nice pics, Meg!

Christina - Amazing, all of it! U2 and Ikea to boot!
Happy Anniversary. I love what you said about your years together.
And as you said…now I’m off to bed!

nicki - I’ve been reading, but never posted before! Anyway Happy 15th Anniversary. My husband and I just celebrated ours as well. Well, celebrating conveys that we’re on the same side of the world…. he’s deployed in the Navy. We have 5 kids as well (4-13) and we lived in Chicago when we first got married. We try to get to a u2 concert every tour, but won’t this time as I just feel traitorous going without him!
Oh and I needed to know, what pizza did you eat? Sometimes I dream about Connies’

Sara - I rarely comment (but am a long-time reader!), but had to comment on this to tell you a.) Happy anniversary! and b.) we probably walked right by each other on Sunday!
I live in Chicago (and work in that big white building behind the bean) but played tourist on Sunday and took my dad and sister on the architecture boat tour. I was wondering if I’m on that boat in your picture of the river! How funny would that be. We saw lots of the half-marathoners, too. They made me want to start training for something, but I’ve never run more than a mile in my life. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed your weekend in the city, and OMW that that girl with the underpants!! Yikes.

Sally - Look how many people love you! 54 comments is impressive.
I love Ikea. I used to live an hour away…now live 6 hours away. It’s hard.

Carol S. - Awesome pics, awesome blog, what a great concert that must have been. I turned down a pair of tickets last week because I had a church anniversary dinner to go to…..arghhhh! I think I’m heading downtown with my two boys for an overnight while dh is on a fishing trip. We love just hanging downtown Chicago!!

Suzanne - Looks like so much fun and I LOVE CHIGAGO !!!!!
Thanks for sharing makes me want to go again.
Just imagine what heaven is gonna look like with all those people (and more) are praising GOD 🙂 awesome.

Jerri - Happy Anniversary! Looks like you had a great time!! The pic of the lady, YIKES!…makes me hope I have never bent over with a skirt on…not that I would wear “that” outfit or anything! I feel like Bono was calling you name but you just couldn’t hear him! ha ha

Melissa Smith - Yeah! U-2 – we are going to the Atlanta show in October – can’t wait. Looks like you had a blast!

Trina McNeilly - Meg….. looks like you had such a great time. i was in the city that day too…..and some friends had an extra U2 ticket.. it was like a giant kiss from heaven…. I had wanted to go so bad but wasn’t able to and at the last minute that day I got to go. I LOVE seeing your pics.. I was like way up at the top…which was fine with me but it is cool to see a little closer. Wasn’t it like super amazing when he sang Amazing Grace? 80,000 people were there is what I was told…wow! Kathy T - Happy Anniversary. We moved from Chicago to NJ 3 years ago. When I go home, it’s for the food. Portillos, Potbelly’s, etc. Oh, how I miss it! Hope you had a great time.

Jodi - You are officially my favorite blogger E.V.E.R!

Chicago looks fun–I’ve never been there and wouldn’t know what to do or where to go, so I’ll have to reference your blogposts about it if we ever do. 🙂

i’m alive

this is a song (no video anywhere to go with it…anywhere!) that i keep playing over and over.
i just love it.

breathing in and out is a blessing can't you see…
today's the first day of the rest of my life…
i'm alive and well.
Annie2

Ann
Anni

and today you know that's good enough for me.

i'm alive and well.

Cheap Jordans - IT IS hard to look at the Capitol in Washington, DC, without a frisson of excitement

Mikaela - I am a mom of 2 from WI and stumbled upon your blog from The Macs. I love all your pictures! You’re work is amazing. I am not sure if this is proper to be asking or not but wondered if you sell your pictures? If it’s not appropriate, just disregard my question, I totally understand. But if your game…what I am looking for is picture to go with the saying “Skip to my Lou”. I make barettes and wanted to make a sign to accompany them where I sell them or for a business card. I am a pastor’s wife and just do this on the side. It’s really not a big endeavor, just something small to try to help my sister’s family out….they are in the process of adopting a little girl from China.
I love the last picture of the girl standing on the bench with the sunflowers in the background. I would just want the picture from under her armpit down. Could you crop it down or could I? Let me know your thoughts. Please be honest with me and sorry if this is way out of line to be asking. Honestly, it’s taken me months to even muster up the courage to ask you this question because I just wasn’t sure if it was appropriate. Either way, know I love your work. You can e-mail me back at besureofHim@hotmail.com
Mikaela

Jo - i sure love how she dresses herself, did you help her this time? I just LOVE the leggings underneath!! 🙂 she’s so precious. i always wanna hang out with her and talby! 😉

Cate O'Malley - Alive indeed! Nothing like kids and colors to put a smile on someone’s (anyone’s!) face!

joycelyn - Willie Nelson also has a version of this that I actually like better than Kenny’s…it’s on Willies new album. It is an amazing song, and quite a good thing to remember each day.

se7en - That little girl of yours is simply magical!!! Wow… How do you not splather your whole house pictures of all that cuteness!!! And she just rocks in the sunflowers… I totally love your happy blog!

Lori - Love that song 🙂 Haven’t heard it in a while. Love your blog too. I look forward to reading it everyday 🙂

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Couldn’t agree more. GS Megaphone has a song called ALIVE. IT is so powerful. Have a great weekend Meg.

Amber - Sometimes we forget how blessed we are to be of good health and alive. :o)

Starnes Fam - LOVE pettiskirts. So fun!

Nicole Q. - Great song, hope your trip went well. I wish I was coming for the Arts and Crafts fair – that would be so fun!- but we are heading to Fairview for a wedding. Jason’s performing it!! It will be a stunning wedding, it’s on their family farm! Deb Karber (Ratzlaff’s) daughter – she’s from Hillsboro so you may know her. ANyways, I want to start messing with editing some of the pics I take, got any starting tips. I still just have my good point/shoot camera – someday I’ll get a real one!

Amy Lynne - I love that song too. Another favorite right now is “Sounds Like Life to Me”.
Those pictures are priceless…I wish we lived close to you so you could shoot our family…you are so talented!

Kim - Every once in a while I need a good dose of country music!

elma - Beautiful post!!! It is a blessing to be alive and well forsure:) Enjoy your weekend with your beautiful family! We are enjoying this wonderful weather and are thankful as Al starts long long days and nights harvesting all the crops for our farm:)

tami reed - She looks adorable my daughter use to dress like that lol cute!

TRACI - That annie girl is just a doll!!!!

Flower Patch Farmgirl - That blasted Kenny. Why is his voice so darn sexy? (And why are all of his songs either utter genius, or pure silliness, with no in between?)
What a perfect theme-song for a beautiful weekend!

adrienneK - such a little cutie!!!!

Simply Lanny... - LOVE IT GIRL FRIEEEEND… and that annie too 🙂

kasey - love this post.

i have not forgotten you.
but i am very slow.
thank you for being patient….i am trying to adjust to this new role as a working woman
while still working 24-7 at home. (the laundry alone is enough to make me cry)
seriously while i am typing this annie is having a HUGE meltdown tantrum downstairs.
like lose your mind kind of screaming….
and i have no idea why.

so don't worry.
your pictures will be done soon.
i can tell you this…you will all be happy.
i have looked at all of your photos and every one of you will love your shots….yes!

i appreciate you.

************************************************

AND i did not succeed on my 2 rooms a day plan.
i did clean the boys' room…for 6 hours.
i mean….come on!
that is just wrong.

IMG_1728

IMG_1717 IMG_1739

IMG_1723
that's our cat emily.
she is a sneaky quiet kitty that no one sees….and she HATES waffle with a passion.

IMG_1730
i also cleaned out the laundry room…packed for a trip…washed all the clothes…and got a lot done.
but not 2 rooms a day.
i STINK at goal setting.

***********************************************

AND that same new kids on the block song was on this morning??
the first time was cool but twice in one week…20 years later….too much.

**********************************************

AND i was 7 months pregnant with talby when 9/11 happened.
i had just dropped lauren at school, scott at preschool and sean at a sitters.
i listened to the radio as i drove from the sitters to the lab to have a blood test done.
i was in a little bit of shock.
i had no clue what was going on.
i went into this little lab and a woman sat behind her desk listening to a tiny radio
and i could barely hear it.
it was the two of us alone in this building listening to people yelling and screaming
"the second tower just fell" etc.
tears ran down in my face…big and pregnant in my bright pink shirt…in the corner chair.
i called craig and asked if he was ok…what do i do…please come home.
it was such a helpless feeling.
a tragedy.
i took my kids out of school and sat home worrying myself sick.
crying all day…sure that chicago would be the next hit.

and today….i am getting on a plane.
on 9/11.
crazy.

Joanna Peck (Jodi) - I should have been pregnant with my 3rd…..but he had been taken by C section on Aug 22nd. (he was due on Oct 19th) he weighed 2# 6oz at birth. I was HYSTERICAL that morning. We were in a different city…in a different home…so we could stay at the hospital everyday to be with him. My 6 year old was in a school–that she was not familiar with. I had a 2 year old that I had to take up to the hospital with me everyday–I could hardly walk those 1st few days, You are not supposed to drive-HAH! I had a preemie–I must hold him, talk to him, sing to him. I was driving by the 4th day alone. My husband was on 3rd shift then– so he slept during the day. All of this to tell you I was HORMONAL and HYSTERICAL! I was pacing back and forth saying– I need to get my baby, I need to get my baby! I too was in a suburb of Chicago, thinking it was next! My husband had to shake me and tell me– you can’t take him out of the hospital– He will die, you can’t take him. The fear was overwhelming. It felt to me like I was choking. I will never, ever forget that day. So sad for our country! On a completely different note….No idea there was a cat in your house. We have one that looks just like her named “Tiggy”

pve - This morning -my husband asked me to find out the time of the movie show and then tonight when he asked what time the movie was and I said I had not done it….I simply saluted. He could whip anyone into shape or shame…lol
Enjoy your time away getting further behind….he he.
pve

Audrey - Ahhh, I could have written this post…keeping up with house/kids/work is tough! Kid rooms take longer to clean than they should! And I too was 8 months pregnant on that morning. I cried listening to re-broadcasts from 9-11 today, and remembered so many things I will never forget.

Jaime @ Simply Arizona - The room looks good! 🙂 Although I noticed no “in the closet” shots! lol… Sorry, maybe I am the only one who throws everything in the closet? lol…
Cute cat!

Jaime @ Simply Arizona - The room looks good! 🙂 Although I noticed no “in the closet” shots! lol… Sorry, maybe I am the only one who throws everything in the closet? lol…
Cute cat!

Sarah W. - 6 hours! You deserve some kind of fantastic treat, i’m sure!
I did not do one single room this week. I picked up a few things here and there… but as for my deep clean one room a day…. NEVER happened. I’m not good at goal setting either.
Being a mommy and working gets in the way of cleaning sometimes, and seriously there’s a million other better things to distract from cleaning.
I remember this day 8 years ago so well.
Overwhelmed. Upset. Angry. Scared.
I cried. Waited for my daddy to get home. And attacked him with the
biggest hug ever when he came in the door. (he had just been in new york and washington dc. just days before)
Be safe on your trip. And have lots of fun.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I spent the day with my New Yorker friend today. Every Sept. 11th she wakes up and has a hard morning cry. We can’t really understand the fear and grief that gripped the people of that city. It’s still so hard to fathom.

Michelle - I get goosebumps when I think about that morning. It still brings back that same helpless feeling, every time. We saw the very best and the very worst in people that day.

pam - laundry should be a four letter word. 🙂

Ashley Ann - Man that long list of people to get pictures too…I KNOW that feeling…and all the late nights that come with it. Hang in there, I can’t wait to see all the amazing pictures you have stored away for future blog posts! Congrats on a quickly growing business…stay true to you in the midst of it!

Amber - love the cat pictures. :o) and today i have wasted 1/2 of the day sitting in bed taking naps and surfing the web. o_O don’t feel so bad.

Elisa - Be kind to yourself about the work.
I too struggle, and threaten to quit almost every day.

robyn Beckley Vining - i was in chicago, too. i know.

robyn Beckley Vining - i was in chicago, too. i know.

Amy B - Not waiting on pics – darn it – GA is too far away, but you go girl! You’ll get it all done and it will be fabulous!!! Thanks for reminding us all that we aren’t in this mom thing alone.

Sarah - Boys rooms take twice as long…you know, the Legos, the moldy hidden apple cores, the empty crinkled Dorito bags, the dirty shirts hidden in the closets…
I totally procrastinate on THAT room.

Miranda - 6 Hours to clean your boys’ room…bless you. I love that other people type blogs while their kids are screaming…I’m always trying to gauge the urgency of a cry while I type ONE MORE SENTENCE.

Karina - I’ll never forget 9/11 either. Even though I’m up in Canada, all flights were grounded that day and we had house guests who could not fly back to the UK. I was off work and just sat in front of the TV all day. Then I attended a huge memorial on Parliament Hill and cried with thousands of others. It is hard to believe it has been 8 years.
I, too, would like to know: where are you going?

Laura Phelps - 9/11….ya know, I had JUST flown from NYC back to LA on 9/9 that year. I sat and stared at the luggage tag on my bag as the towers fell. And I had nearly stayed in NY longer, alone with Jack, pregnant with Belle. Had I stayed, I doubt I would have ever gotten on a plane with my babies alone back to LA. My father and brother work in NYC. I lived in the West Village before moving here. Jack and I played at Battery park nearly daily. He would sit in the jogging stroller and we would roller blade down..with the towers as our destination. I am glad you posted about it…we need to remember.
and on a lighter note…your Emily looks just like our Delilah.
Have a safe trip…to…where?????

Dana D @BoysMyJoys - Safe travels to you!!!

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Fun boy room! And I liked hearing you 9/11 story. Such a defining and terrifying moment for all of us. I’m sure we all remember exactly what we were doing at that moment.
Also – Where the heck are you going? You just sorta threw that one out there, right at the end.

carissa... brown eyed fox - i was pregnant too! what a scary… “what is happening to our world” day!
i TOTALLY understand the plane thing… i have a pit in my stomach EVERY time i board a plane… BUT… get on that plane… HE is with you… HE will get you through! i pray for peace for you! safe travels!
there is NO way i could get two rooms done in a day either… we have WAY to many distractions! at our own pace… it eventually gets done! 🙂

Sharla - The sad thing is I think I could spend 6 hours cleaning EVERY room of my house right now. I hope to get at least one knocked out this weekend.
Can’t wait to see the pictures – you have been BUSY girl!
Have a great weekend.

Heather @ Cookie Mondays - so chloe and talby are the same age, cause chloe was two weeks old! i was nursing her while watching it unfold on tv. it was my 19th birthday.
safe trip 🙂

Sarah @ In A Dream - I thought you had mentioned a cat at some point – it’s good to see her! Very pretty! My cat had to stay outside once we got our Scottie because of a lot of “spraying” or basically peeing all over everything.
It’s quite amazing how this country has changed since 2001. I miss all the flags and the national pride. I was in the seventh grade when it happened and didn’t even know what the World Trade Center was. Boy, did my world change!

Kathy - Safe travels!!

jennifer - Here’s to laundry, doing the best we can on the housework, and to living in a still free country 8 years later…
Have a wonderful getaway wherever you’re going. Hope it’s just you and Craig. 🙂

Lori Danelle - I’m great at Goal-Setting.
Just horrible at Goal-Following-Thru.
have fun on you trip!!
http://loridanelle.blogspot.com

Joel Rodell - I didn’t make the list!
Joel

Jill J - I too had no idea there was a cat in the house! How funny.
I was 4 months pregnant with my son (my first) on 9/11. I remember watching it all on t.v. and balling my eyes out thinking, “what have I done bringing this child into the world at a time like this?!” What a scary feeling that day was. I can’t imagine living in a country where war is constantly raging.
On a lighter note, have a good weekend! I hope it’s productive… and relaxing. That can happen, right?

Julia - that sounds like a good kind of behind – can’t wait to see the pics

Jo - I did not know you had a cat, maybe that’s because she hides! 🙂 love the boys’ room, good job!

CK - I was pregnant with my first child on 9/11. I cried, too. I was so worried about the world that we were bringing her into. A few years ago, we visited the site of the 2 towers. There is this wind that blows through and the presence of so many lost… It literally gave me goosebumps. My heart still aches for all of those that lost loved ones that day. May God continue to comfort them.

mom - I felt the same way when I flew to France 3 years ago today! Who would book a flight on 9-11? We would!!Ha.
Can’t wait to get the kiddos for the weekend.

Stephanie - Hard to believve it’s been 8 years since the tragedy of 9/11.
I didn’t know you had a kitty! She’s so cute. I love how you just walk in a room and there they are randomly curled up asleep on a peice of furniture or under the dining table. I’m a kitty person in case you didn’t pick up on that!

Maria Masurat - Travel safe today – know that you’ll be in my prayers.

adrienneK - omg you need to go look at my “happy” laundry post!!!!
a cat?! i had no clue you had a cat?!?
oh my look at all the KU stuff my husband is from kansas and his dad and step mom and other family still live there,so we have a ton of jay hawks kiddie gear for the girls!!

7 things.

1.  i have been listening to Pandora all week with the station i typed in of the Jackson 5.

it is making our morning chaos a little fun…..we're groovin'.

2.  this was on the radio this morning on the way to school.

i was belting it out and dancing too….oh oh oh ohohoh!

it was 20 years ago that i went to their concert in Kansas City with steffany.

they wore rainbow colored sequined blazers.

3. i bet you didn't know i am really good at naming movies from another room…by sound not sight.

i will be doing something in the kitchen and craig calls to me "name that movie"

it's just like name that tune….

i am a name-that-movie expert.  (self appointed expert of a game that i made up)

4.  my 15th anniversary was last week…..and i forgot!    but craig didn't.

5.  i made coffee on sunday about 2 minutes after i got out of bed.

i forgot to put the pot in the machine.

the whole pot of coffee ended up on the counter and floor.

     niiiiiiiiiice.

6.  i have a attack plan for cleaning my house over the next 8 days that i will be home.

     2 rooms a day…deep cleaning….UGH.

     but it must be done.

i started with the craft room so i would feel like i could breathe.

and today is the boys' room.  MAJOR mess.

they "clean" it on saturdays but i am going to CLEAN it.

with The New Kids on in the background.

7.   wild sunflowers are everywhere….

Talb

Liz - I used to suffer BIG TIME with this crap! I have been cotleemlpy delivered from anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, ocd and much more for over 5 years now. No it’s not a, you gotta pay something nonsense. I want to tell as many people as I can because I am cotleemlpy healed of it all without having to a pay cent! Check out my channel or go to my site: fuentesevangelism . com. You will not be disappointed!

Sabine - I used to suffer BIG TIME with this crap! I have been comtlepely delivered from anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, ocd and much more for over 5 years now. No it’s not a, you gotta pay something nonsense. I want to tell as many people as I can because I am comtlepely healed of it all without having to a pay cent! Check out my channel or go to my site: fuentesevangelism . com. You will not be disappointed!

Zeynep - Sensitization , Bewilderment and Fear. This person is treppad in the anxiety state due to extreme sensitization, both physical and mental ( you can see his nerves are edge all the time). This sensitization is kept alive by belwiderment ( he does not know why he feels like this and wants to be his old self agian if only he knew how) and the most powerful emotion FEAR. Unknowinlgy he adds FEAR to FEAR. He needs to PASS THROUGH the fear the right way and not avoid or quiten it. DR Weekes

Kristine Robb - talby’s shirt is awesome!

Trina McNeilly - Love this post.. always love knowing random things about people especially when they are things like making coffee without the pot… i do things like that too.
ps- if you get a chance stop by my blog.. i’m having a fun giveaway….i think you will like!
Have a great rest of your week!
xx Trina

Val Russell - I have done the same thing with the coffee TONS of times… but at a restaurant that I work at! The coffee pots are right behind the counter where people sit, so they always notice and laugh.
And one of my talents is naming a movie that a certain song is on… Like in the car hearing a song and knowing what movie(s) it is on. Don’t know why I’m good at that. But it’s fun.

tami - Love the new look too cute!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - That is a great plan of attack. My house needs a thorough cleaning, but all at once seems overwhelming. Two rooms at a time may be doable. Thanks.
Love that you screw up too. I’ve been running around with my head cut off lately. That just lends it’s self to screw ups.

Heather Richter - I have done the coffee thing, danced to NKOB, but I can’t name people or movies to save my life. I need the “mom translator” from Saturday Night Live. Thanks for the flashback. :)~Heather Richter

Courtney - I started playing the video and my two year old got up and started dancing all around! So cute to see my kid jam out the music of “my day”. lol!

Angela - LOVE IT!!!
I am such a NKOTB fan. I went to a concert 19 1/2 years ago. LOL
I actually had tickets to a concert this past summer. I was going to go w/my husband. But then he had to go out of town. So my mom was going to go with me. But then they MOVED the concert ahead a week, and SHE was out of town (as was my husband still). So I sold them. It was a two-hour drive and I didn’t want to go alone. I’m still bitter.
I have recently discovered Pandora and LOVE it! I’m sure you know this, but you are aware, of course, that you can combine artists for a station, right? I have a New Kids/Debbie Gibson station that rocks my socks off! 🙂

se7en - Oh good grief – I have never even thought of your coffee project, what a nightmare… but I never remember our anniversary or the poor man’s birthday!!! The luck of the draw I guess… I could remember his birthday and forget his lunch!!!

DreamGirlLisa - Love the picture! And I like your idea for the cleaning. Made the rainbow cake this weekend for my daughter’s 18th bday, it turned out great, she loved it!

ashley - i love pandora…it also makes my daily activities a little bit more groovin’.

Jennifer - I LOVED Jordan. I practiced writing Mrs. Jordan Knight on my notebooks! My mom took me and my cousin to see them in Wichita. We had a NKOTB wall with all of the magazine pictures of Jordan and her favorite Joey. When I hear their songs, I can’t help but smile and sing along!
Last week, I told my husband to throw the pancake griddle away beacause it wouldn’t heat up. Turns out, I forgot to plug it in!

Betsy - I was also at the New Kids concert in KC. I didn’t realize it was 20 years ago. It was my first concert. I still talk about the fact that I went to it … AND … Young MC was the opener. Wouldn’t it be funny if all of us were sitting near each other?
Happy cleaning! I wish I had the same plan to clean my condo this week. Maybe you’ll inspire me a bit! 🙂

Dana - I totally play the ‘name that movie’ game with my husband, he tries to stump me all the time and gets mad when I get it. I can even name movies I’ve never seen, as long a I have seen the trailer at some point. Great list, I love your blog.

Jaime - I too love your blog…and the coffee pot one cracks me up. That is so something I would (and probably will) do. 🙂

Kate - I was a Jordan gal 🙂 LOL – awesome song – it is cracking me up! 7th grade I think? 🙂

Lauren - I love your blog!!! It’s one of the first things I read in the morning and it always makes me smile 🙂

amy - let’s see here…
-love pandora. i like to type in dixie chicks or led zeppelin or sometimes both. fun stuff!
-NKOTB…yep. went with my seventh grade boyfriend and he was mad at me the whole time because i wanted to attack jordan.
-my anniversary is coming up…my husband reminded me yesterday!
-hate it when coffee pots can’t fix their own malfunctions!
-can you say cleaning frenzy?? come on over.
-talby is too cute.
oh, and one more thing, thank you for your sweet comment about my ben boy. it made me smile. {hugs}

carissa... brown eyed fox - meg… you are happiness!

Meg - i too was at the nkotb concert in kc 20 years ago. although i’d rather not put the number of how many years ago that was. wow!! still love them to this day.

Jenny Wenzel - Hey Meg…love your new kids video…I never got to go to their concert “back in the day”, but my friends and I went when the came to KC last November…it was a BLAST! A bunch of 30-something women screaming for these guys!!! What a memory!

Flower Patch Farmgirl - You are rainbow-rific.
And I wasn’t allowed to listen to NKOTB. I revolted a couple years later by memorizing most of the Metallica Black album. Showed them.

sarah w - I have the same cleaning plan this week. A room at a time, deep cleaning.
I HATE cleaning. But I HATE living amongst a mess.

Christina - I LOVE THIS POST!!
I was such a New Kids fan…I went to a concert and peed in my pants a little I screamed so hard. How embarrassing is that?! My mom was so sweet, she took me and a bunch of friends to a concert at the Richmond Col. and then she wouldn’t let us have the binoculars. It was also about 20 years ago. Crazy. And that song has been stuck in my head for several days for some reason-weird. I thought it was such a riot to see it here!
And I have done a couple of similar things like your coffee pot story the last couple of weeks. I also had to share them with the world. Funny stuff.
And you are majorly inspiring with your deep clean…I was about to tear into our living room and our schoolroom, oh, and our computer room. Blech. But seriously needs to be done, just like you said. Wouldn’t it be fun to get together with a group of your friends and clean together? Just go from one house to the other! It makes me miss my mom. Or my sister-in-law. It’s so much easier and fun when someone is with you. Since I’m all alone, I guess I need to be Hangin’ Tough. 🙂
Have a great day, and hope you get lots done.

fanee - I totally play “name-that-movie” too! The smallest little snippet is all I need- Glad there’s someone out there who shares my “gift” 🙂

Jill @ Barnes Yard - Oh I could really get some deep cleaning done with NKOTB in the background!

amy d - man, if you can deep clean your whole house in 8 days, then i must really have a lot of stuff….i gave myself until halloween! bonjour!

Summer - I was pretty into Jon…I liked the shy guys.

Erin Drennon - Love Love Love New Kids, I too went to their concert in Kansas City (that is where I live) what a blast from the past. They were on the The Today show a few years ago and I was singing the songs in front of my girls and they thought I was so weird. I tried explaining that I loved New Kids like they love Jonas Bros.

Molly Pearce - Oh gees girl you just brought back memories with that song. That was me and my sisters first concert and we screamed so hard that we had sore throats the next day. My mom got us the bedding, sleepng bags and dolls. Me and my sister would play Barbies for hours and pretend that they got married to Jordan and Donnie. HAHAHA, fun times!! Love reading your blog everyday chicky!!!
~Molly P

adrienneK - my husband loooves pandora radio it’s pretty neat!!

Kelly - GREAT photo of Talby! Fun list! Kelly

Keri ~ ForeverFoldingLaundry - I have done that coffee trick as well. It’s such a mess. My condolences.
Have fun with the cleaning. Funny that my boys’ room is my least favorite room of the house to CLEAN as well!

purejoy - i know i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but a little new kids along for the ride never hurt. i love that idea!!

Nicoleigh - I like the sunflowers! That is one thing I don’t see a log of in Iowa.
But a comment on Pandora…you get only 40 hours of free music a month. Last month I used it up the first week…since I had it playing every day at work. But I still love it!

Kathy - OMG great list, I can’t believe you forgot your anniversary!!
Deep cleaning good luck with that, I think I have ADD when cleaning! Love your sunflower picture, so cute.

misty - new kids!! yay! i am glad someone else likes them and remembers them from when they 1st started! sometimes i feel so old! love the sunflowers! wish we had them growing like that here in Tulsa!

Laura Phelps - #5 is HEART BREAKING. I actually cried a bit for you.

Sarah - Love the 2 rooms a day!…think that might motivate me!

Erin - I had NKOTB everything – even pillowcases – pathetic. Never went to a concert though – just to Boyz II Men 🙂
And we were just singing The Right Stuff at a party last night – so funny!

Lori Danelle - the coffee. . .I have totally done that!! Luckily, now I have a coffee maker that holds the coffee until the pot is in place. Or at least in theory it does. I think that feature is working a little less well than it did originally.
Now, I just find the milk in odd places. Like the cupboard with the sippy cups.
http://loridanelle.blogspot.com

Michelle - Joey WAS the hottest. Ahhhh memories of my mom driving 2 hours in a snowstorm to take my sister, me, and several friends to the concert. She must have REALLY loved us.
Thanks for this post this morning Meg, it really made me smile.

Miranda - NKOTB. Yes. I also adore ‘name that movie.’ I think in high school I quoted so many movies that I rarely spoke original thoughts.

Starnes Fam - I cried at their concert. Seriously. I did. Not sure why. I think it’s what I thought I should do.

Jess - happy belated anniversary. i am in “organization” mode right now, ’cause i procrastinated getting it done before school started. i like to do a deep cleaning in the fall more so than the spring. i luuuuv fall!
delightful pic. love it.

Julia - We went rollerskating this weekend and in a very “uncool” move I participated in a race. I got put with the other mommas. Apparently this embarrasses one’s children.
I won by the way.

Sarah V. - Donnie was and still is my favorite! Only I didn’t get to go to their concert until this year and man was it fun!

Jaime @ Simply Arizona - NKOTB was the best! 🙂 It was Jordan for me! 🙂
Deep cleaning, huh? Yeah, I had a 4 day weekend and was supposed to do the same. I managed to get just about nothing done. =(

cori barney - NKOTB FOREVER!!! Donnie still makes me light headed!

Sara - Oh, I was so in love with Joey. Now I feel old.

re-post because of spammers.

**i am posting this again because this post gets so much spam for awful gross stuff.   i re-named it and took a couple words out….deleted the old post…we'll see if this helps.  please don't feel like you need to read it if you read it last year.  :)

___________________________________________________________________________________

10 months ago we began working on this room.

IMG_2325

removinging the vintage blue rose wallpaper. (it just wasn't workin' for me)

removing the matching drapes.

painting the walls and trim.

replacing the very ugly brass/wicker wobbly ceiling fan with a nice new fixture.

and now….it's done.

IMG_8203

this is the kids' toys room and also the guest room.

we (try to) read books together in this bed every night.

it's so cozy all piled in there.

this room has five windows on one wall.

it has a huge tree right outside where you can watch squirrels and birds right in front of you.

and once while up in the night feeding a baby i saw a big fat raccoon.

i knocked on the window and he just looked at me – yuck.

the point is…the view is pretty.

it gets all the afternoon sun.

IMG_8217

behind the map is a pocket door that goes into my bedroom so it's always closed.

i found this red trunk at the flea market years ago.

it smelled awful and the inside was covered with swastikas.

now it holds costumes and dress up clothes. (ahh…much better)

the map is an old school map that my mother-in-law gave me.

it's one of my favorite things.

IMG_8263

a big comfy bed calls for great big super-sized pillows!

and i made the polka dot lampshade too.

it is very basic and imperfect but that's OK.

IMG_8237

IMG_8228

IMG_8213

that door goes to the back stairway, lauren's room and a bathroom.

these chairs were trash picked in illinois.

they have seen better days but i still like them.

the rug came with our house.  it used in the craft room.

it has holes but it's the perfect color in here.

the little blue cabinet was from salvation army.

the READ letters came from hobby lobby…they were gold leafed

before i spray painted them.

i heart spray paint.

IMG_8266

IMG_8281

IMG_8230

some of our favorite books.

children's books are so colorful and happy.

my dad has had this where the wild things are print since i was kid.

IMG_8233

all the toys and books are inside the closet.

it's a mess in there.

there are toys and a tv in the armoire also.

IMG_8231

i made the duvet and ruffle on the curtains out of sheet sets from target.

my mom makes duvets too.

you just sew two flat sheets together leaving one end open for button hole closure.

or ribbon instead of buttons….much easier.

feels good to check so much off the list.

now….who is coming to visit?

i just wanted you to know that your taste and style have really inspired me.
i call your blog “color therapy”, your love of bright colors got me to think that i should be adding more to our home. so i’ve spent time painting wooden chairs RED (my favorite)
and be a little bolder with color choices all around.
I admire you for other things too but will just comment on your decor for now :).
thank you for taking time to fill our days with some of yours.
God bless.

Jenni - What an absolutely gorgeous room. It makes me sigh with pleasure and delight! BUT…

Christina - To answer your question…me, me, me, please?
That room is FAB-YOU-LOUS. Note the middle of that word.
Actually, will you come here and help me with this house?!

Naomi - I comment very randomly, but read always. We are currently in the middle of de-color-ating a new house and there are some struggles as there is no hobby lobby, michaels or target here, BUT your post gives me hope and ideas and sets my creativity juices flowing.

Naomi Williams - I am a complete lurker who fell in love with your blog b/c of this room the first time you posted it.
I never knew what my “style” was (and I still don’t to be honest) but this was probably the first time I actually found a space that resonated with me from top to bottom that actually EXISTS somewhere and is USED and contains JUNK that is AWESOME…and did I mention I love that you USE IT!!!
It is a big time inspiration to me!
SO glad you reposted this…very “meant to be” for me.
Inspiration!

Vera - Oh and I have to say… the wallpaper with the matching drapes cracks me up – I mean, really, what were people thinking?!? I guess if you REALLY REALLY REALLY love those flowers and want to feel like you’ve been swallowed by a giant flower-bellied monster, it’s a good idea.

Vera - YAY!! It’s my favorite room in your house (I’m sorry if it’s creepy that I have a favorite room in your house)… in fact, I sewed a crib bumper out of that green sheet set and, in a little over a week, when we hopefully find out whether the bean in my belly is boy or girl flavored, I’m going to ask you to help me figure out how to decorate the nursery. Seriously 🙂
