movie party….in MOMs room!

I am always looking for fun ways to spend time with my kids.
3M sent a projector to help us be creative with family time.
i couldn't wait to use it.

IMG_0912-1
My mind was immediately full of ideas!
We have an outdoor movie party every year at the end of summer.
We provide every kind of topping you can imagine and our guests bring their favorite
kinds of ice cream.
In the past we've borrowed a projector, but now we have the 3Mô Mobile Projector!
It's small and portable and hooks up to an iTouch, iPod, iPad or even my laptop -- amazing!

Most of the time I am not up for hosting a big party with lots of prep and planning.
But we always have family night on Fridays. It's usually pizza and board games.
this week I surprised the kids with a formal invitation to my party.

IMG_0910-1IMG_0911-2

All we need for family night is us!
Just seeing that sign made my three youngest completely thrilled.

We piled onto my bed and used our new 3M projector to make memories together.
Comfy
jammies were required, slippers were also in attendance.
W
e needed LOTS of soft pillows and favorite blankets.

IMG_0944-1

I popped popcorn, bought chocolate chip cookies and we used water bottles for drinks.
Actually, we even shared water bottles, because we are family!
I don't think I can watch a movie without Mike & Ike's so i made sure we had those too.

IMG_0946-1

My little girls were very excited. They love to be cuddly with me and with their dad.

The hardest part of the entire evening was choosing a movie!
We watch lots of movies so it was a challenge to pick one that keeps their interest
and that they haven't seen. My favorite family movie is "The Emperor's New Groove," so we almost
chose that. But we hadn't seen HUGO so i went with that one. I rented it from iTunes, downloading
on the iTouch. The kids found their comfy spot and settled in. There was just barely enough room
for us, but the squishier the better when it comes to cuddling!

We loved spending time together in a fun new way. You don't need a big party to have fun.
Sometimes the best times are when you are just together, even if you're smooshed. Ha ha ha!

The 3M projector will be great for slumber parties, camping, team parties...so many possibilities!
It's so small we can even take it on vacation.

It turns your tiny little iTouch into a movie theater -- that's awesome!
You can get an additional cable to hook it up to PCs if you don't have the i-products.
It is also able to be hooked up to bigger speakers for more sound.
It's available at Target.

IMG_0930-1

i sent this necklace to my mama for mother's day.
i am so in love with it.

my aunt Pam and my cousin Sam came over for dinner this week.
she lives in sydney.
i hadn't seen her since i was 14.
isn't that crazy?
22 years?  it seems completely silly.

it's official….the farm in may is THE perfect place for dinner guests.
it may be different in the hot summer but this month we have eaten almost every meal outside and it is absolutely perfect out there.
i loved having them here.
maybe next time i see you Pam it will be at YOUR house…in Aussie!

IMG_1259-3

annie BEGGED to take a picture too.

we had CREAM PUFF SQUARES for dessert.
i think it's my family's favorite.
and i think ALL company likes it.
true story.

(while you are way back in 2008 archives…don't get sad and start crying that your cute little baby is all grown up….like maybe i did when i was searching for this recipe)

here is a rare look inside the farm house.
:)

IMG_1294-1

because check out my new messenger bag from The Pleated Poppy!!!

IMG_1296-2 IMG_1297-3

it is pretty darn cute isn't it?!     it's better than cute.    it is….marvelous?!  yes….marvelous is a good word.

so here's the deal…..she can't keep these bags in stock because they are all so amazingly happy.
but she will keep making them.
be patient and she will restock.
SHE WILL.
you don't need to email her & ask…poor girl doens't need 50 emails asking "when can i get a green chevron bag?"
she will restock.
she knows how fabulous they are.

go over to the pleated poppy….look at ALL her cute stuff….she has free posy pins today!

and look at her bags and make yourself a note to come back in a couple days to get your own messenger bag.
and if i see that they are restocked i will remind you.

but really….everything in lindsey's shop is rad.
you can't go wrong.
what about teacher gifts??? pick some up today!

i have been sitting here debating on running all morning.
trying to talk myself out it.
"i have a headache"
"it's too gray"
"it's windy"
"i'm tired"
"i'm sore"
"now it's too sunny"

dang it….i'm going.
and i am not coming back till my headphones tell me i have been 6.2 miles.
but i am not happy about it.

i brought my two littlest girls up to my parents for a short visit.
there was no school and it looked like it might rain again and after that LONG rainy spring break we just had i was done with that…so we packed up and left.

and today we had a girls day.

🙂

so many comebacks i could've had.

IMAG0620-16

ok moving on….

it has rained EVERYDAY of spring break.
ALL DAY.
and i was not prepared for that.
there is MUD everywhere.
we have practically ruined every pair of shoes we own….in four days.
IMG_8536-1

what do farmers do with their dogs???
do you bathe a farm dog?  or just let it go?
do country folk just not have indoor dogs?

IMG_8517-1

these are things i need to learn.

craig stayed home today and we had a family day.
i wasn't convinced it was going to be any fun with all the crankiness that was going on before we left.
and the weather….it was ominous……AGAIN.

IMG_8538-2

first stop….home depot.
isn't it always?

IMG_8540-3

and our plans for mini golf were messed up from the cold so we went to the movies…last minute decison.

IMG_8544-4
i took the girls to the Lorax….they'd already seen it.
and craig took the three oldest to the Hunger Games…i think they bought the last four tickets.
our theater was showing it in almost every theater every half hour!
kinda wish i'd gotten to see it.
but the Lorax was good.
🙂
made me remember that i don't want to live with regrets.
i want to make a difference.
my kids watch me so closely to see if i will cry…i only got misty eyed this time…annie called me out.

then we hit the bookstore.
IMG_8547-5
my stack i browsed through.

IMG_8553-6

sean spent some of his gift cards he had.
annie read as many Piggie & Elephant books as she could.
and i wished for a few more hours and a starbucks and silence….but we moved on.

IMAG0561-1
chilis for dinner.
perfect place with the ball games starting.
it was interesting to observe that all of my children are old enough now (suddenly) to order their meal, have conversations the whole meal….without crying or fighting….and laugh together…it was pretty cool.

i think i like them!

we drove home and FINALLY the sun was shining.
i said "wow…i had no idea how bad i needed that sun?! it feels so good!"

scott left for basketball practice and i told the kids to play outside till it was dark.

IMG_8583-7

IMG_8589-8

she wanted to show me how fast she could ride.
last week she said "i think i was going 120 miles an hour!!!"

IMG_8603-9

i stepped out on the main road to see the sun set….i took this for Pam.
she loved the sunsets on her kansas farm.
miss you pammie.

IMG_8604-10
annie had come out to see the sun set too and then i told her she could go on ahead as fast as she could.
she did.

IMG_8608-11

i stopped to take this picture and as soon as i snapped it i heard a crash in the house.
the kind that you wait for what comes next….

while arranging her bedroom lauren dropped the glass top to her dresser and it broke everywhere.
she cut her arm and was bleeding a lot.
oh my.

craig pulled up in the driveway 2 minutes later and took her to the ER….13 stitches….ouch.
she is fine.
she is making cookies right now as i type this.
but still….OUCH.
(you are welcome for not including pictures)

there is never a dull moment in a big family.
ever.

i think i am ready for bed…..it's been a really full day.

i will go to sleep smiling about World Water Day.
i love how God uses blogs to bring us together for a greater purpose…HIS purpose.
it really is SO COOL.
all of us from all over the world working together to help others.

in the words of the Lorax….
"Unless someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better.
It's not
."

sleep well.

and thanks again.

we are here…and happy.

thanks clorox….now onto the moving details!

IMG_7491-3

only one diaster from the move….
otherwise it all went very smoothly.
we had strong men step up and help us out….love it when people are willing to reach out and HELP.
and my sons were SO HELPFUL!
they surprised me big time at how strong and willing they were.

IMG_7473-1

we got all the beds set up and annie got cozy right away.
she loaded her bed with ALL the stuffed animals she owns!

IMG_7484-2
a very fun little extra to this house is this little room…with a tiny door.

IMG_7477-1

it's the perfect size for two little girls to play with all the bajillion littlest pet shops.
they go in and close the door and you can hear their little voices…..it's completely adorable.

the kids' rooms are pretty much set up.
our room is not.
we have too many clothes….way too many….we have to deal with that issue.
the kitchen is put together.
we had our first meal together in the house sunday night.

IMG_7681-17

we had friends and family bring by meals on saturday and sunday.
it was SO NICE!!
i was extremely grateful to not have to think about what to make for dinner
and all the cookies….oh Y U M.
i decided to ditch myfitnesspal for the weekend.  :)

IMG_7668-16

SERIOUSLY….this gift was to welcome us to our new home.
from new friends that we just met?!
i came inside and set it down and had a few tears of gratitude.
another confirmation that we have made the right choice.

we had been so busy with everything and then half our power went out and craig was working on that
i was so tired saturday night that i built our bed myself at 10:30 and put the sheets on and climbed in.
i slept like a R O C K.

the farmhouse is good.

and waffle is very excited about it too.

IMG_7554-7

ok….i am off for a morning run.
and the walmarts.

have a fabulous monday!

hi…..

i want to make this cake….my kids would LOVE it.

a commenter yesterday told me about this site.…a Childs Own.
i was in awe.
the poor girl is so swamped with work though.  i wish i could help her out!
she is an amazing artist!
my kids loved it too.
they kept thinking of which of their drawings would be the best to send in.
🙂
i think they think it's a contest….
annie quickly drew this picture for that blog.

IMAG0495-1

a rainbow bus!!! love that….and those cookies too.
mmmm.

i am sitting here in the crafting/dining room….surrounded and nearly buried in the things to prepare for the Whatever Craft Weekend #3.
i had a successful day today getting supplies and using my time well.
(that can be translated as….i had time for starbucks without having to speed on my way to the bus stop)

IMAG0499-2
do you see i found cupcake fabric that is glittered?!  hello?!!
(brother sister design studio fabric from hobby lobby)      (and my planner is from erin condren)

this is my little crafty cave.

——————————————–——————–———————–————————-———————

so this has been on my mind to share with you lovely ladies…..

i was driving in my car and listening to a christian music station.
the DJ came on and said who the song was by and then said something like:

"there are so many people that think they need to change before God will love them"

they say that in church, in books, on the radio.
i have heard that probably over a hundred times in my life.
but all of a sudden

I HEARD IT.

and i felt so sad in my heart.

do people REALLY think that?
Are there people that think that God won't love them if they are flawed?
That they have to be fixed and pretty and better before God would want them?

if that is you….if that is what you were taught or what you have told yourself….

IT IS NOT TRUE.

You cannot do anything in your life to make God love you more.

You cannot do anything in your life to make God love you less.

HE IS LOVE.
He loves you….right now.
in your mess.
in your heartache.
in your despair.

in your mistakes.
in your anger.
in your grief.

in your fear.
in your depression.
in your loneliness.
in every teeny tiny corner of your very being…..

HE LOVES YOU.
no matter what you did ten years ago, last month or today.
He is ready to welcome you into His open arms.
all you have to do is ASK.

i hope you know that deep and unfailing and unENDING and never changing LOVE from God and Jesus.

"Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." Matthew 9: 12

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28
